Heh, Prometheus didn't decide later on to start an Apocalypse/Ragnarok, which might happen depending on how is plan will work.

Actually, after Prometheus was released by Hercules he never got back on Olympus. So who knows what he's planning :P

Does that mean DA4 will end with Solas chained up to a giant rock and every day an eagle comes to eat his liver which grows back that night?

Who knows? :P Solas seems convinced that he's going to suffer greatly for his deeds.

That part of Promethus' myth would be probably rapresented by him sleeping for thousands of years, since it's the consequence he 'suffered' after his action.

Yes, we may not yet have gotten to the part with the regenerating liver.

I always thought "regenerating liver" was... awfully specific. Why the liver, of all organs??

(points at self: STOP PROCRASTINATING, YOU!)

Ok, ok....

Dunno.... Greeks were weird? Like - why did Zeus hide unborn Dionysus in his calf? :P And Athena sprouted from his head... after he ate his first wife >.>

After his mother died. Seriously, the tale of Dionysus itself is super odd, lol.

No wonder he's a god of madness! Which is even more hilarious considering all the parallels with Christianity.

So playing Origins again just made me want to play DAI (lol) but instead of playing my canon over again like I usually do, I decided to play (almost) totally against type. I play elf or human women, 99% of the time they're mages, diplomatic in one way or another, respect magic in one way or another, happen to be straight. So I decided to roll a blunt and direct, no BS qunari warrior who distrusts mages, dislikes magic and happens to be gay (she has the hots for Sera). Per usual, its been a totally different experience so far from my devout Andrastian and my devout Dalish.

My Adaar dislikes Solas, thinks he's weird and shifty, and Solas apparently thinks she's an idiot. It's interesting to experience a completely different dynamic with him (he's my canon romance) and see a different side to him. His analogy of the rabid dog vs the starving dog was pretty apt, it was difficult to disagree (well for me at least, my Adaar's attitude was, this is all theory, whatever).

Yesterday I got a cortisone injection into my foot.  That was fun.

It rained today.

How's everyone else?

Also, I like Solas.

Well it didn't rain today.

Didn't rain yesterday either.

Hasn't rained for like a month straight. I am distraught because, as I have said before, I love rain.

Solas is pretty neat though.

I'm glad that there is no mention of a Solavellan love child being born between the final battle with Corypheus and the beginning of Trespasser, because then Solas might be bound to a rock with his child's intestines for eternity, while Lavellan holds a bowl to catch a serpent's venom so it doesn't fall into Solas' eyes, except when she has to empty out the bowl.  That would really suck for Lavellan.

I love low approval Solas, he makes me laugh. I had way too much fun playing an Inquisitor that was as much of a jerk as she could possibly be to him.

He's so different too. When I did my first playthrough of DA:I, I remember talking to someone else that was playing, and she was all, "oh, Solas? He's so grumpy, I can't get him to like anything I say" and I was... puzzled, to say the least. At that time, my Adaar practically worshiped him, they got on great. Who he had trouble with was Blackwall, the person she (the Solas is grumpy player) had romanced. At the time, I thought Blackwall had Grumpy Old Man on lock, it seemed like even when Adaar tried to speak his language, Blackwall hated him even more.

Then a couple playthroughs later, with my Cadash, I was going for the Trials achievements. Including the one about having all companions by the time I reach the Winter Palace. And. Well. Solas is a convenient approval dump stat, because he won't leave until the end. Plus that Cadash was super Andrastian and had no problems believing they were the chosen one. So that went over great with him.

I knew how sassy he'd get in Trespasser, but man, I was not prepared for all the stuff in between. Let me tell you, once you get on Solas' bad side, (1) it is astonishingly difficult to dig your way out, (2) he really does hate every single thing about your entire existence.  :D

I have been idly scrolling through the thread to get caught up, only half paying attention, and when I got to this part I got so confused... Like, who writes fanfic like that and did I miss something in the game and...

Time to head back to bed I think.

Nah, Lavellan will be smarter. She'll have TWO bowls. Then she can just rest the second on his head while she dumps out the first.

So... short of an Inquisitor cameo in a kiss scene with Solas, what would satisfy you guys concerning solavellan content in DA4?

Solas saying "Vhenan is waiting for me" before he bids goodbye to the new Hero?

I'm going to continue hoping that we have the option to import our Inquisitors as the protag for the next game.

It would make all sorts of narrative sense, and Mike Laidlaw said they'd consider who the new protag would be on a game to game basis.

So maybe the Inquisitor, now depowered and equipped with a basic prosthetic on their residual limb, comes back to finish what Solas started. I honestly don't think the story, or at least any plot thread relating to Solas, will be satisfying without the (former) Inquisitor dealing with him.

 My brother didn't like Solas. "That Solas guy? Everything I say he hates." Solas made me laugh in Trespasser when I played it with my jerk Inquisitor. That sass, I need more sassy Solas in my life. I really liked how they changed his responses to the inquisitor based on your approval with him.

So... short of an Inquisitor cameo in a kiss scene with Solas, what would satisfy you guys concerning solavellan content in DA4?

Solas saying "Vhenan is waiting for me" before he bids goodbye to the new Hero?

You know, I read a lot of fan fiction where, like, the confrontations between Solas and Lavellan are these grand, dramatic things where each pines for the other and have their pain written in such pretty poetic words as they weep for their complicated love.

And I'm like "I feel like my Lavellan would just nag Solas about his clothes and ask him if he's eating enough, because she always worried he wasn't eating enough and it wasn't good for his health. And then Solas would nag her about getting a good night's sleep because she was always really bad about that and he wants her to be rested when she's sabotaging all his plans. And then they start just acting like an old married couple because they love each other, but they can't admit they love each other because they're The Inquisitor and The Dread Wolf, and all their followers are just looking on like "Boss, shouldn't we be fighting? Why are you worried if the Dread Wolf still hasn't mended that hole in his coat? Does it really matter if he catches a cold?"

Like - Solavellan is often written as angst and angst and angst, and that's great! But I also feel like their should be moments where they're just casual with each other and happy, not only because it gives a more balanced view of their relationship, but it makes it so much worse that these guys have to be enemies and have to oppose each other, but then they actually interact and it's so... friendly.

I'd like something like that. Something that's happy instead of angsty, but in doing so, becomes angsty because it's happy. Does that make sense?

...I mean, I don't think we'll get that... exact scenario, of course. But just a brief moment of "These guys could be so happy together if it weren't for the whole apocalypse thing."

EDIT: Reading back over the question I realize I kinda misunderstood. it seems like more of "How much content do you want?" and not "What type of content?"

Well whatever. I do agree that the story would be cheapened if it were resolved with anyone besides the Inquisitor, though.

Solas saying "Vhenan is waiting for me" before he bids goodbye to the new Hero?

I'd be satisfied with anything, really. Tragic ending, open-ended ending, shrouded-in-mystery non-ending. I like them all.

The inquisitor that romanced Solas has a good thing going with the Jennies. She never was compatible with Solas. I played her romance as if it was inertia. She flirted with Sera a lot, and would have complemented her personality. She wasn't that serious about Dalish beliefs, so it could easily have worked. They were probably soulmates.

But sometimes life works out in weird ways, and people end up with the "wrong" person. I didn't set out to play that dynamic from the start. I got hints of it early on, and was so intrigued that I decided to play it out, see where it led.

I don't usually prefer happy endings, but for that inquisitor a happy ending would be tragic anyway.

She's finally where she should be in life, and getting back together with Solas would ruin that. She's not a good person normally. And Solas is usually a good influence on people. But the way she acts around him, it's like she loses a part of her soul. They're friendly to each other, and on the surface they get along. Superficially, they both value the same things, like magic and freedom and protecting their people. Yet something in their natures clangs against each other. They're fundamentally incompatible; they almost repel. And they keep dragging themselves back together.
