Okay guys checked it out in the announcement thread proper cause I figure some folks who go there probably have better tech smarts than me, been informed that there's no easy way to archive a long thread without BW themselves adding that functionality to the forum (think I read what they were saying right anyway).

 

So the next question becomes, if we here can't find a tech solution and if BW don't change their mind/offer some archiving tool.. I'm not going to suggest we each manually save several hundred pages of posts. Not practically feasible. It's a real shame though because there's a lot of memories and fun times in this thread and the original thread, not to mention collections of art and excellent lorecrafting/character discussions etc.. 

 

I obviously have the OP, and I'll update the links/coding in that in OP Mark II, and before the forum closes/goes away forever, I'll gather up the bits of the thread that some of the OP links link to (there are some) and at least store them somewhere so they aren't lost (evidently they're linked in the OP for being good stuff). 

 

But I have no answer for the majority of the thread :/

not decided yet afaik, many folk seem to be making accounts in both places just in case, early days decision wise yet. we do have confirmation from both locations that we can make Blanketfort 2 as is there which is great. before making a decision-decision I'd like to wait a while to allow more Threadusers to come in, catch up and make up their minds.

Otherwise, well that's 6k pages indeed. If there's nothing to do about it I suppose we will have to let go, nobody will be to blame except for this feature not being available here in the first place

This will probably be the end of the road for me in the DA fandom and hanging out with all the Solas stuff. I used to follow fan sites, but over the years they would all be overcome by in-fighting and the forum owners/mods getting bored with it and moving on. Which is fair and entirely their choice, but I just don't have the mental energy to deal with that. These forums were the official ones, they were always going to be here, no one had the big say on what happened but the company, etc. etc. so it was just fine to hang out. Except, well, not now.

 

So it's been a fun few years that honestly helped me through a damn rough time IRL, and the respect and admiration I have for the diverse people on this thread (and elsewhere on the forum) and their insight on the game, the story, and of Solas has never waned. You're all awesome, so remember that forever, whatever comes. Maybe we'll all find ourselves in the same place if/when DA4 comes out, and people will remember me as the person with the ridiculously hard to pronounce name.

 

It's all just such a shame.

So this has been a really awful summer for me.  In a bit of a crappy place emotionally.  Long story short; I am from Fort McMurray and we were evacuated for a month and a half because of "The Beast" aka giant forest fire.  My home is fine, but the loss in the city is devastating, and it's left me in one hell of a funk.  I know I haven't been active in months, but I took it for granted that this thread, and the people in it, would always be here.  I'm thinking about all of the discussions I participated in, and how this thread helped me cope with a lot of stuff.  So let down and bummed.

Ok. I made an RDF account. I'm switching my name over to Vhenan Sequitur because I've used it for other things, and it's darn witty.  I'm using the same avatar though. Maybe some of you folks will recognize it if you see me. It'd be great to find a place where a majority of us could regroup. Divided we fall you know.

 

I wonder about this Elfroot Club... I don't think I'll head over there unless that's where you all are going to be. While I consider myself a "creative soul" I don't really use forums for that kind of thing. Also I'm not keen on members only forums. I used to lurk a lot, and I don't see what's wrong with it.

 

When I first saw the news I thought about biting the bullet and joining Reddit, but I think those people might be too hardcore for me. I have a friend who's had some "intense" experiences over there.

 

Anyhow. I hope closing the BSN saves BioWare enough money that they can pay their people to make a super sweet dream wedding for Solavellan in the next game.  I demand elfy dream wedding and dream wedding frilly cake with little barefooted elves on the top darn it! I might be joking...then again I wouldn't complain if they did it.

You can try out both and see which one works for you. They serve different niches and both have their advantages and disadvantages - kind of like keeping or disbanding the Inquisition. XD

 

Elfroot Club is small, and has generally been geared towards creative works. It is not a publich forum, but there are a lot of fairly laid-back Blanketfort members who have joined. Mods there are @Tess and @Kadan.

 

The RDF looks pretty big already which is good for general discussion, and it has moderators that are present and keep on top of things. I'll probably be checking it out over the next week and seeing if I feel comfortable there, though since I already have friends at EC I'll be there, too.

 

So at the moment, one is more intimate and focused, the other is broader and more spread out. Why does that sound dirty?
