thanks for still being here
I can not begin to express my disappointment - the Blanket Fort has been like a safe haven where I could read and discuss all things Dragon Age (and sometimes simply hang out). To think that this will all go away... This year has been a bit rough on me in general with both health issues and other stuff, but here I could escape from it at least for a little while.
Thank you to everyone I have met here - you are all awesome folks!
I have registered an account on RDF, but for some reason my forum name is only written in lower case letters... it looks so wrong! If I can't change it I might switch name altogether.

you can change it, apparently everyone got this same issue, don't worry
Well, you can always come along to the new place. Wherever that ends up being.
And then you can contribute! (If the mood strikes you.)
I'll be sure to! EDF doesn't seem too bad...
Omgggg harsano we love you too thankyou for signing in to pass on these kind words I'm so glad our thread could be a thing like this for you
LOVE TO ANY LURKERS OUT THERE
Aaah I've missed out. So welcoming ;;;;;
Thank you all again, honestly.

Yeah, I tried a couple of times and then suddenly it worked! ![]()
This feels... ugh, this just feels so weird and sad. I'm afraid I or some of you other people will get lost along the way to our new home. ![]()

I'm hopeful: The thread will still be here for a little while, so if someone gets lost or if people want to post little beacons of where they end up, they can still come here.
Maybe...maybe Bioware will change their minds... Team Optimism.... *waves tiny flag*
YESSSS! I may have genuinely laughed out load when I read that, but we need team optimism right now. Team Optimism should be the new name of our chat space. ![]()
Seriously though, I'm getting tired of trying to be optimistic about things despite the horrible odds. Clinging to hope, when it comes to so many things, is getting old. I need an actual Team Optimism flag on my wall that I can wake up to everyday. I'm terribly grim and fatalistic these days. Geesh, I need some cookies. BioWare is not going to change their minds. I get the impression most Mass Effect and Dragon Age players never use the forums. It's a service they were providing that only a few of us were taking advantage of. Darn casual gamers!
Well then, now that it's become kinda quiet... I guess it's time to catch up on these few old pages of the thread I have been still skipping, while I can
I might be repeating myself but this is truly the most wonderful place I have ever stepped into
Just...why
I just sort of don't really know what to feel at the moment. Today's my 21st birthday and then this happens ![]()
I've lurked here for a really long time before beginning to take part in the awesome discussion here. I've never really taken a huge interest in forum boards before, but seeing all the tin foil hat theories, all of the compassionate and friendly people and posts I found here, its just such a shame to see it all go.
I don't want this forum to go before I've really started taking part in it. All you awesome people are just so lovely and kind. This place needs to exist in some form for us when DA4 arrives! I wouldn't know where else I could even go. Certainly not reddit or any other social media site.
I might go and sign up for RDF under the same name if I can, but I'm hoping Bioware changes their minds.
Okay I know I lurk in this thread 99% of the time, but I am seriously gutted you guys. Character threads and the Twitter threads have been such a joy to me over the years. Where are we going to go?
We are settling here https://realdragonagefans.forums.net/ and here for the moment http://penandpencil.umabbas.net/index.php
Both are great and very welcoming!

Thank you kindly. I will be registering now as a BSN refugee. ![]()
I hope we can have a Twitter thread too...
I don't know what to say except for 'man, this sucks!' ![]()
I created an account over on RDF. Same username and stuffs. I'm trying to see if I can save these pages somehow. I know they can be saved as files in firefox but it's gonna take awhile to get all 6k + pages. I tried some program but it didn't work that well. It would take too much hd space apparently. But I'm going to see what I can do... if I can do anything.
I hope that they change their mind in getting rid of the forums.
I only just heard the news (from Gaider's twitter, no less). This has not been the best weekend ever. ![]()
I haven't been a super-frequent poster, but I've really enjoyed having a place to talk about Dragon Age and Mass Effect and this thread in particular. This thread got me through my post-Trespasser funk. I haunted the twitter threads in the lead-up to DAI. And I can't imagine not being able to talk like this with anyone about MEA or DA4 when they're out.
*Discussions* don't happen on Twitter. I love the lore-heavy speculation and character dissection that goes on here. I love being able to commiserate about my Bioware heartbreaks and talk about my favourite characters with people who adore and think about them as much as I do. I LIKE THE TEXTWALLS.
I can take or leave most of the forums, but this thread is a gem, as others have said. I am way more upset about this than I expected to be.
Still catching myself up on what is happening. But thank you to Solas and everyone else who's been working to save the best of this thread and find us a new home out there. I would post a picture of Solas leading the Inquisition to Skyhold but I don't actually know how to do anything like that ![]()
I post little things every now and again but I'm mostly just a lurker here. What little I have posted was mostly in the very beginning, when everyone in here was biting their nail's hoping for Solas to be a romance and the rest of the forum was hoping he wasn't lol.
Anyway, I can't seem to come up with all the cool theories that everyone in here comes up with because I don't think I have all the lore down pat for that and I would probably embarrass myself, it was however a joy to read everyone else's. I absolutely loved reading everyone's posts and discussions when I got home from work and now that I lost my job not too long ago, it cheered me up after a hard day of looking for a new one. Anyway, I signed up for https://realdragonagefans.forums.net/ with the same name and I hope to continue to read the posts I love so much from all the posters I've grown accustomed to seeing, even if they have no idea who I am.
It's been a blast.
Regarding the Elfroot Club - http://elfroot.club/index.php (formerly Pen and Pencil), all of you are welcome. We are capable of accommodating the community on a separate category of your own (so you don't get swamped by unrelated art, and the few artists out of the fandom don't get scared of the influx of Solavellan things), where you can recreate whatever you need -- boards and topics at your leisure. We'd most likely appoint a mod to oversee the forum, one from within the Blanketfort community, but otherwise it is a forum as any other.
I see you're all moving to the fanforum which is great -- Just remember that you're equally as welcome on Elfroot Club. ![]()
We've got all the standard things such as private message system, custom emoticons, BBCode, changeable forum nickname, spoiler tag, automatic youtube parsing and flexible topics (and are always open to suggestions).
The forum is and will remain private however (as in disabled guess browsing), as it is primarily a safe haven for more shy artists and writers that aren't that comfortable with Tumblr-like exposure. So it will require you to login to post and read.
Here's a forum (and Solas) related art:
Feel welcome and drop by anytime.
[The registrations are mod-approved and may take up to few hours on occasion, but in 99% are very immediate as we cover most of the time zones.]

The Concerning Our Forums thread is still a buzz with pleas for Bioware to reconsider, memorials of good times spent on BSN, and a few downright rude comments about EA, Bioware, and David Gaider (oddly enough). Some people seem to think the closing of BSN is the beginning of the end--that Mass Effect Andromeda may be Bioware's last game, that the company isn't doing as well as EA would like.
If you haven't popped in there to leave a note give it a go. If there is any chance of changing their minds I think it's community members showing up in large numbers and leaving RESPECTFUL comments of objection. I was blown away by the number of likes I got on my own note to Bioware. People are angry, but mostly they're sad and want to save our home. It's worth a shot. Team Optimism!
Also, have some Solas. There hasn't been nearly enough of him today.

Spoiler
(My husband is a game dev for a much smaller company) and he said it's likely due to toxicity in the forums and the devs being sick of hearing about it. Nothing to do with our thread or the well being of the company itself, but possibly a case of the few bad people ruining it for everyone else who enjoys the forums and follows the rules/is generally pleasant to speak to.
(Speaking in general.) It's really difficult for them to put up with the toxicity of the "hardcore" fans for a long time and the bad comments stick with them way more than the good ones.. It's like someone is always criticizing their work very harshly and they just don't want to hear about it anymore.. :/ Can't say I blame them. I just wish everyone didn't have to suffer for it.
(My husband particularly hates the "this is broken and unplayable!" comments as well as the "NEEEERRFED" comments. AND calling the devs out by name. Even when they're the "face of the company" there is never one single person responsible for a decision in a game. That's why it's a "dev team!")
But yes, I agree. Tell them you love them and what a great thing they've made. It will possibly help!..? A little?
(Sorry for rambling! I hear about this stuff a lot from him and I'm very sympathetic.
)
Damn at RDF's graphic design, I feel like I'm back to 2003! I'll get on it in case it ends up being THE place, though.
It reminds me of the first forum I ever joined back in the early 00's. It's great.
Like Raptor Solas misses his vhenan! I will miss this thread:
Raptor Solas! I'll miss him most of all.
Just...why
SpoilerI just sort of don't really know what to feel at the moment. Today's my 21st birthday and then this happens
My 22nd is tomorrow and I feel you real hard, once you get into solas hell I guess you can't expect simply getting away...
The suffering is never ending !
Edit : currently browsing some of these old pages I skipped... I still just can't believe how much precious content I would have missed if I had played the game one single year later, this is madness. I'm so sad for these people who are going to discover solavellan hell in a few months and won't have access to any of this
So everyone is either at RDF or at Elfroot ? Nice. I already have an account at RDF so I will make one in Elfroot.
As for being optimistic, I won't be. Bioware has a well and proven track record of giving up and ditching things that do not work instead of trying to make them work. \
That plus the fact that former Bioware developers like Gaider who are openly being happy about BSN being shut down is an indication that this move to shut down BSN from Bioware is a long time coming.
OMG Team Optimism is back.
*waves tiny flag*
This time I'm full on TO.
You never know.
Yayyyy Team Optimism!
But in this case, I dont think they will reconsider... >.<
