I'm iffy about our community dividing into several forums. Ideally, I'd love us to follow somewhere where the Bioware community as a whole, the one present in this forum, would also be there. Solas thread is mainly the one I'm here for, for sure, but I love the forum as a whole, and would love to have both in one place again, even though it sounds rather optimistic. But I'm nothing if not Team Optimism.

Omg, I don't even know what to say...

I haven't been a big contributor here, but this thread has been my one refuge these past couple of years. Lots of depressing stuff and tragedy in my life has made me so.very.tired, but Dragon Age and this thread is literally one of the few things that has been able to make me think of other things and enjoy myself.

I almost feel like I know some of you guys, and the general acceptance and friendly discussion climate here is much much too rare these days.
Thank you for being one of the rarest gems out here in the otherwise hostile environment of the Internet. Love.You.Guys. (cheesy speech is cheesy^^)

Well, I've joined both RDF and Elfroot Club.  To me, the ERC is more Blanketfort like. It's small and friendly and cute. But it seems like more people like the RDF. So be it. Wherever this thread goes,  I shall follow.  (don't you hate it when you spell a word right but it looks so very wrong..? "Wherever" looks so odd to me right now...)

Where ever you all end up I wish you the best. I won't be migrating to RDF or any other forum. I barely have time for the one and it's very quiet   Mainly, I don't have the heart to invest in another new forum. This thread/group was/is the only one I felt comfortable with and I have been around the internet a lot in the last 16 years. Of all the places I've been a member of, only one other has been as welcoming and felt like a family as this one has been.

Hello Blanket Fort dwellers!

None of you probably know me and that is because I never contributed to the forums. BUT long story short - I only discovered this gem of a thread at the start of this year (due to my shamefully late introduction to the DA fandomyou have permission to slap me for that!

Since the forums will be closing soon, I just wanted to say - thank you all for getting me through the Solas feels and being aweso!me in general with all the theories and speculations! I just hope that this thread finds a new home and these wonderful fan interactions continue, and of course if you will have me I would be honored to join you in your new home    Hopefully I don't sound like a stalker

I have to say the blanketfort refuge category ERC has already set up for us seems lovely, i just... have a feeling I am not worthy of going there lol

RDF sounds like it would be more active and less "intimidating" (all the insecurities) but the threads actually seem a lot less organized, kinda all over the place. Again I hate being judgamental over a community that wasn't asking for anything in the first place, we're ... trespassers

I still cant decide both have really good sides to them

 

ERC is the one that gets the most blanketfort atmosphere to me, but I'll totally abide by the poll results

I guess that means both really is my choice

Elfroot Club is a nice looking site and as you said small and friendly.  However, I feel that anonymous lurkers should be able to, well, lurk anonymously without having to create an account if they choose.  And I think AutumnWitch has offered to create a Blanketfort board as well, if I'm not mistaken?  I have created accounts both at RDF and ERC though.

If there is a way to set up sections of the forum as public with other sections member only we can accommodate those who prefer to lurk rather than sign up. I know I've been part of forums where there were sections that were 'member only'.

 

The forum is meant to be a safe haven in the wasteland of the internet, safe from prying eyes and judgement. I've been divorced for nearly 10 years, but my ex still stalks me on the internet. To my knowledge he knows nothing of this persona, but my daughter is also a member there and our safety is the root of having a private forum. It's not meant to intentionally exclude anyone, though I understand that it can come across that way.

 

I would be happy to look into the SMF features to see if that is an option and how to set that up if enough people are interested in making EC their home and the vote is to accommodate lurkers.

RDF is the poll-choice so far. Won't call it yet as it's too soon to be fair, will leave it up longer, see what it looks like tomorrow night when I get in from work. 

 

Will say tho that at present RDF looks like the place we'll go, based on the numbers.

 

Both sites are lovely tho and both sets of admins are lovely too, nobody else has to do so if they don't want to but I think post-move I'll try to participate in the EC community too as well as RDF. The Blanketfort thread as-is already functions with 'affiliated' offshoots/extra spaces (ex. A03 fic collective group, informal tumblr network, private Solas group, the chatzy). Also I can see RDF and EC each fulfilling slightly different needs for me. ^^ Sometimes I want the wider community feel (e.g. wanting to browse a thread full of everyone's Inquisitor screenshots), sometimes I wanna chill in a more private quiet space with mostly-users who I'm quite familiar with or share new fic for crit with a trusted few, like Kadan describes.

 

Atm I'm gonna call it a night, same goes as last night tho, PM me if anything comes up and I'll be back to see what's up & continue working stuff out tomorrow evening. o/

Now that forums will be closed I feel sad. It was the only place that I had a chance to see all those great fan arts because I don't actively use tumblr and all other social medias.

I understand making the forum member only and I wouldn't ever ask you to change that.  I also didn't think it was meant to exclude anonymous people.  Having a safe place on the internet is wonderful.  I would suggest using *both* sites but I'm hesitant to do that as I wonder if that might not split up our Blanketfort more than we'd like.  Not that other people don't use mulitple sites but I know me ... I have the attention span of a gnat.  That I've followed this thread for 2 years after DAI released is kind of mind boggling to me.  I'd probably forget about one site or the other.

Hi All,

 

The sad news about deleting the forums made me create an account eventually. Now I'm upset that I haven't done it earlier - until now I have just been reading the thread. I love the conversations, laughs, screenshots, art posts (a few of my comics have even been liked here, yay! ). And above all I love how everybody is respectful and positive.

 

I just can't beleieve Bioware wants to delete all of that.
