We should just make the next few weeks a non-stop train of Solas gifs and kiss screenshots or something. (and the people who hate him can post gifs of punching him I guess?)

 

But like I said in another thread about Solas a while ago - the great thing about blanketforts is that you can build them anywhere!

I'm so jelly of all the purdy gifs. I still don't have an animated gif of my Lavellan kissing Solas. This upsets me. Unreasonably. Yes, I know my priorities are screwy.

Fraps didn't didn't work with our AMD Mantle API set up, the demo of Bandicam left that nasty watermark, and I can't import the Bandicam AVI files into GIMP to trim off the watermark. GRAAAA!!! It's on the to do list anyhow. Any ideas y'all?

Yes! Open Broadcast Software! Open source so it's free and it's great for recording or streaming your game play. I did have to mess with the settings to figure it out, but there are tutorials out there that help you get the settings right. Here's the link

I am wondering what woke Solas up from Uthenara ? He was slumbering for millennia and he woke up a year before the Inquisition started. Why did he wake up then and what caused him to wake up ?

Regarding the guest access - we can enable guest browsing on the Blanketfort board on Elfroot Club. You will not be able to see any other board on the forum neither to post as a guest. Each topic created in that board will then be view-able by guests. 

 

However as it has been pointed before this post, it may as well be that both the forums serve different purpose, in which case we'll keep it closed as it is. If some of you move to us, just let me know via a message on EC we can discuss it there  (Same username and avatar as here)

 

And please, do not feel intimidated one bit. We're all nice people there You do not need to be an artist to join (hence why there's a 'Blanketfort Refuge'), but definitely feel free to drop by the art boards and participate if you wish so! We're a welcoming bunch. 

 

 

Anyway, good luck guys on the RDF forum or wherever you in the end go. I used to hang out in here a lot before I slipped out of the Solavellan Hell (/gasp!) and it's definitely sad to see this go.

It's all good! Blanketfort welcomes politely-expressed Solas critical opinions and you don't have to be a Solas fan to post here, discuss him or participate in the thread's community. RDF's admin has also been saying that migrants can tell their friends and other BSN users to move to RDF too, Blanketforter or no.

Tess thankyou for your continued thoughtfulness and flexibility re: EC. For anyone reading I can confirm the welcoming atmosphere over at EC. Further it's me who is the mod of the Blanketfort space there, so it's familiar, don't be intimidated.

I've wondered about this too. Perhaps the foci being fully charged triggered an alarm...like the button popping out of a turkey. Or perhaps while wandering the fade he was actually fully aware of the passage of time and knew when to wake himself up. Since according to Dalish legend elders sometimes awoke from Uthenera and shared the knowledge they acquired in the Fade, they must have known how to wake themselves up.

Usually it's done within minutes (the system sends out an email once it is approved). On occasion, it may take longer but never more than several hours. If you wish to speed up the process drop me a line on tumblr since I can access that via phone at most times and check the registration queue after that.

 

We could make the registrations without the mod approval for the time being however it attracts a lot of automated trash, so please understand that it's something we do not like to enable often. Also, most of the current residents are there exactly because it is mod approved and clean of spam and bots, a trusty place, if you will.

So then...if he was acutely aware, then he spent over a millennia walking the Fade? I mean good for him and all but, at what point does he decide, oh I should probably try to the fix the world now after every one has screwed it over a couple of times.

 

And if he wasn't aware? Well I find it very difficult to believe that he just woke up from a sleep that long. It just seems too convenient. Why then? Sure it has to happen some time, but why not earlier? Or another thousand years later?

I want to say that, even though I don't really contribute much, I still adore everyone in this place and I hope that things will work out with a newly built blanketfort.

I am personally of the opinion that even if she didn't wake him up directly, like with the Hero of Ferelden and Hawke and even the Inquisitor, she very much had something to do with it.

 

She can't get her revenge unless/until Solas takes down the Veil after all.

I don't know...Mythal is probably using Solas toward her own ends, but I don't think she woke him up. Remember Solas is an expert at long term planning.

He knew before he went to sleep that his plan was to use the orb to restore the world of the elves, and he knew how long the orb had to charge. Or perhaps he knew how long the veil would last before it began to fail and the magic of the Crossroads would also begin to fail. I also believe that no ancient elves are currently immortal unless they are in uthenara (essentially suspended animation). Solas knew the only way he would live long enough for the orb to charge was if he slept the whole time. Ta-da!

I'm too tired to get into speculation mode right now, but I love the idea of Solas setting an alarm to wake himself up when his iFoci was fully charged

Seems like more than just one old magic is returning to the world.

 

Why is it happening right now or who "they" are? That's anyone's guess.

So this was posted in the 3rd Party Community thread.

 

I started writing a forum scraper yesterday , parses through the BSN and extracts forum posts, users who made the posts, users likes and stores it in a database. With how busy work is, I will probably finish it in a 1/2 a month or so. If any forums wanted, they could use this tool to migrate the BSN data.

 

Might be useful to keep an eye on.
