CREYIN
U GUYS
I PM'd Conal Pierse the other day [ladyiolanthe actually kindly also did so, independently of me, and CC'd me in there too, bless her] ,
"Hi Conal,
I'm the OP/thread leader of a popular character discussion thread. Since the announcement about the forum closure, we've been concerned about losing everything when it comes to deletion time.
I'm aware that the forum will be read-only for a while, which is a good step as it gives us time. I'll be saving our OP, our main resources and some parts of the thread manually (the OP links to several parts of the thread where useful answers and great discussions happened, for example), but I can't possibly save it all manually. It's over 6000 pages long, so I couldn't possibly do it manually even with the help of some volunteers. It's not even practically feasible to simply look through the thread page by page and saving only the best bits. I've been looking into tech solutions for archiving the thread, perhaps using some kind of program or tool, but so far haven't had any luck.
I was therefore encouraged to reach out to the admins [CANT REMEMBER WHO TOLD ME T O DO SO BUT THANK YOU OMG] on the off-chance that an archive of our thread might be something you'd be capable of offering or helping us with, hence this message. I understand that BioWare seem to want to delete the forums in their entirety - but some specific threads are absolute gems in terms of content and quality, and the Solas thread is a great example of this. Our thread is relatively densely-packed with theorycrafting, lore discussion, speculations, character analysis, etc. Not to mention the history and memories there. It would be a great shame to lose it, from both a practical/game/game-world-knowledge and emotional perspective.
Thanks for your time,
Solas on behalf of the Solas thread"
and he reply to me just now
"Hey,
Thanks for reaching out. I'll look into this and see what help we might be able to provide."
