Hm.  I don't remember Merrill having a replacement.  But there is an older woman in mage robes (Vinell) who appears in Act III, maybe that's who you're thinking of?

 

No it wasn't her, I'm just going to put this down to fanon-canon confusion. I used to read a lot of long DA2 fanfics, one of them could easily have had a few lines about a new First in the clan.

 

I'll keep the headcanon about the halla and leave the rest up in the air for now.  

 

 

You know what just occurred to me? They weren't going to make Solas a romance originally. So they were going to have a character with GDL's sexy voice be unavailable.

That would have been just plain cruel!

 

Barring us from both Varric AND Solas would have been so cruel.

 

I honestly am surprised Cullen was a late addition to the LI roster he seems like such an obvious choice.

Well, Vinell appears in Act III and she is dressed in robes, so she might be the new First to Marethari; you can speak with her about how the clan is doing in Act III, during "A Murder of Crows". Merrill also mentions in Act III (upon entering the Dalish camp as part of the ambient dialogue where one of your companions comments on the Dalish camp) that the Keeper has a new First.

Reminds of me that episode of Seinfeld, where George wants to rub his oily bald head on a girl lol.

Hopefully everyone can get a chance to polish Solas' head.

So do you guys think Solas will be following us from a distance and then pop up when we're out on a quest somewhere, or come and knock on the door of wherever we're starting out from? If the inquisition got his attention such that he felt he could help and came looking for us, I have to wonder how far into the game he'll appear. Won't we have to have gained some attention for a random wild elf to have noticed?

 

The whole guiding hand moment from that Enemies of Thedas trailer got me thinking that he'll be one of the early companions. He'll pop up to show you what to do with your glowing magical hand powers and stick around to help. As for how he ends up finding you? I'm not too sure. I've been wondering if there was any chance of a connection between his abilities and your own, which causes him to seek you out.

 

Or..I don't know, maybe you go for a walk and trip over him sleeping in the bushes.

 

I can imagine you'll get Dorian during some quest involving the Venatori and Viv I'm not too sure about. Maybe once your Inquisition starts gaining enough rep she will take notice.

[MK]: Vivienne is not the sort of person who would sit back and watch while the world crashed down around her. The Inquisition is the only group even trying to stand against the chaos. So she resorts to the only logical course of action for a courtier: she throws a party for them.

I tried to venture out to the other character threads and was promptly ignored, I've learned my lesson from leaving my dear fellow Solassians. 

 

I really want all the characters to be able to dress up in fancy clothes for Vivienne's party! xD I know it probably won't happen but I would love to wear a poofy dress and then have to kick assassin butt in it as well. And maaaasks! Ones that we can wear after the party to, to retain our mysterious natures of course.

LAVELLAN: [UNDER HER BREATH] It's not that bad. Cole's having a great time!

COLE: [STUFFS HANDFUL OF HORDERVES INTO HIS MOUTH]

OTHER GUESTS: [SCANDALIZED GASPS]

SOLAS: Josephine is going to skin us both alive for this. Where is Bull?

LAVELLAN: [POINTS] Flirting.

One elf who probably hasn't done much outside of her clan before, another who doesn't wear any shoes, a strange boy in a big hat and a large bearded man. They are going to blend in so well.

I choked oh gosh. Well played, well played. And Gaider's contribution was the best! They just really love messing with us. 

 

Also, if given the choice, nothing is going to stop me fom bringing Solas, Sera and Cole to that party. We are going to make the worst first impression on Vivienne and everyone at that party that could possibly be made.

There might be Orlesian attire you can optionally wear, depending on whether or not you want to cause a scandal. I think the party with the assassin could be different from the one initiated by Vivienne, perhaps one held by Celene, since it seems to take place in the Winter Palace (in the Dales). Assuming my character is still invited after what'll inevitably happen at Vivienne's party.

 

You know, I can just picture Iron Bull wearing a mask.    I don't think it would have the intended effect. 

 

Wonder what Solas will think about Orlesian culture and their lavish, overly extravagant parties.
