Hellooooo! Long time lurker here, delurking to say how much I really enjoy the Solas thread. I've been reading the forums for a while, but really only stick to a few key threads...the Twitter thread for news/goofy dev posts, peek in the romance threads from time to time, the Solas thread (because he sounds amazing and I want to love him), and the Dorian thread because, well, Dorian! 
Anywho, WE GET TO ROMANCE SOLAS! SQUEEE!!! I'll admit I was a little disappointed with the gating because I normally roll human, but it's all good...I can do an elven lady love for him. 
Actually, since I normally do stick to humans, this whole romance thing has been a complicated experience for me. Between all the possible romance options, the character ideas I've read from others, the gating, and the way the LI news has been announced, I've constantly been having to think up new characters to play. Dear Maker at the number of playthroughs I now have planned...THIS IS EXHAUSTING! lol Not a bad thing though. It's kind of forcing me to play and experience everything about this game.
BioWare, whether that was your intention or not, kudos and well played...

Omg, I know. This whole waiting for the reveals and then sometimes having your hopes shattered has been completely awful. I dont think I have adjusted my play roster so much waiting for any other game. o-o I hope next time, they just release a chart right away so people dont have to panic so much about it... But yeah, I have like 6 playthroughs planned so far and I'm trying to not make myself make anymore! I'm worried every lady elf I play will fall victim to Solas and romance him. //snort

I think Solas is early on in game, if you remember the trailer where Cassandra holds a sword at your throat, it looks verrrrrry similar to the place where Solas appears to hold your hand (Plus Cassandra). I think he'll be our first mage. We also get Varric (Rogue) and Cass (Warrior) early on too I reckon to make the holy trinity for each class to benefit.
Makes the Solas creeping on the inquisitor idea more plausible xD. Or the villain/ antagonist theory...Ihopenot

Yeah, it's made my playthrough planning crazy at times. lol I actually would have preferred they announce them all at once, but it is what it is. I'm just glad we finally know all of them! And, that thought did cross my mind about playing more than one lady elf. Since I'm now determined to try them all, I considered an elven rouge for Cullen, but am worried even she would get drawn in by the dreamy bald elf.

I've been getting that impression too based on what I've seen. At this point, I'm definitely expecting those three to be our first companions. And, I love coconuts.
In other news, I am still SO torn between a mage and an archer class Dalish. I'm actually leaning towards archer for rp-ing reasons, but I love playing mages sfm...decisions, decisions...
I agonized over that for a bit. I've never been big on playing caster classes, but what we have seen makes them look so awesome. Still, for my first game I want my character to not be "anyone special," and a mage who is suddenly Fade-touched or whatever would certainly come across that way. So plain old archer it is for her.
Meanwhile, I really want to play a female Qunari because they look seriously badass. Since she's already got that against her, she'll also be a mage so I can make it extra hard to get through the game. I'm practically salivating and rubbing my hands together here when I consider how my winter months will be spent.
