This is so awesome!!!
Forgive me for this, You gotta love plan Bee. I wonder if is as a hedge mages are good at setting up an am-bush. Really looking forward to see Solas interact with anybody and everyone really but especially sarcastic people.
Omg poor Solas xD With the talk about companions being harder to please and their liking you based on what you do (not just what you say or gifts) I expect many people will say that to their screens. A lot.
Just out of curiosity, who else is planning a World State with a Dalish Elf Warden? If you are, how do you think he/she may think of Solas if they ever met?
I'm debating if I should use my Mahariel import for my Solasmance (my Mahariel is a rogue, and my Lavellan will be a warrior...I like the same class across all three heroes if I can manage). That being said, Ron Mahariel would find Solas interesting, (he finds everyone interesting) but probably too focused on the elves. Ron's all about embracing other cultures and I think he'd prefer...not assimilation, necessarily, but forging a new identity that's more compatible with the realities of "modern" Thedas.
And he'd never understand Solas not wanting to get down with dwarven Inquisitors at the very least.
is this meant to be a Wicker Man joke?
No, it was based off of something someone wrote on the wiki about the jar of bees.
Spoiler
ah, nevermind
Have you guys seen this? It made me laugh:
-snip-
Hahaha seriously though...the screenshot of the jar of bees is awesome, and it looks like it's a potion? does that mean that, as a mage, I can throw jars of bees? Because I may just have to play on easy with friendly fire turned off just so I can make sure to use all of my allotted potion-usings on bees...

I think it is a potion, or more like a bomb that you can throw.
What's going to be creepy is they have recorded special screams for different status effects. There are going to be "I'm on fire" kinds of screams. I can only imagine what the "continually stung by a swarm of bees" screams are going to sound like.

yussss..... pitch grenade + fire ball + jar of bees = winning
Edit: Ahem, back on topic... why the heck do I all of the characters so much already?

It'll sound like this:
(Now there's your Wicker Man joke).
Sorry if I'm late to the 'what made you interested in Solas' party!
I saw that blurry screenshot (that many, including me, assumed was Dorian) and thought he looked really interesting. He wasn't the typical elven pretty boy we'd been given in previous games.
And then I found out his name was Solas and he was an expert in dreams and the Fade and, well, Illyria approves +100.
So I came to the brand new forums and went into the brand new Solas thread and found..
A bunch of people badmouthing his looks.
So I left. But then I found this thread a few months later and, although Solas isn't the character I'm most interested in (he's probably the second, or third), this place kind of became my internet home.
Well if he looked like Nicolas Cage before, and I never thought he did, he certainly doesn't look like him at all now after they changed his face.
They changed his face?
They changed his face?
Not drastically - and it could just be that they updated the skin textures and the lighting/shaders in the game. Comparing newer images to those old screens of Solas traveling around with Cass and Varric, it looks like they might have raised his cheekbones, lowered the brow, and made his cleft chin less prominent. But again, it could be the lighting - those particular screens were taken in extremely bright and rather harsh 'sunlight' which could be why he looks so different everywhere else (Even Cass doesn't look at that great here - I think that's why guys keep saying she looks old? She looks beautiful in that trailer):

I notice that both Solas and Cassandra are showing off their thighs of steel in that pic... ![]()
Hello Solas thread!
I've lurked around here for long enough so I thought I'd drop in and actually say hello!
I am looking forward to learning more about Solas and was lucky enough to have decided on a female elf before his LI annoncement, so guess it's fate and I'll just have to romance him
.
And also bring gifts as my excitement for Inquisition has reached critical peak and now I'm doing art for it already. Oops.

I hope that shows up alright I'm new to this forum business ![]()
Just a bit of art from my blog of Solas, Cole and my Lavellan because sleepy fade family is something I need to happen.
Well I'm jumping on the wagon right behind GGDuck to say hello to the Solas thread !
He's not the typical pretty elf, and he reminds me of someone I knew and didn't like much .. but he fascinates me nonetheless, and I can't wait to make his acquaintance.

I noticed too. I blame this place for the fact that in any given screenshot, my eyes always go to the thighs first. ![]()
And we have new people! And art! WELCOME! Let me dig into the flower crown supply...here we go.

I still can't make up my mind which Warden I want to go with for my first run through.
My first Warden was a male Dalish rogue, who in the course of the game realised he was gay and romanced Zevran. I decided that was why he didn't have a relationship in the clan before he left (or possibly why he was so cut up about Tamlen) but didn't really admit to his orientation until Zevran confronted him with the idea. I think he would get on well with Solas because he was always curious about new things and would be intrigued by Solas' knowledge of history via the Fade. His friendship with Alistair and other companions, made him adjust his ideas about humans, so he ended up pretty open minded. He turned down Morrigan because he didn't want to save an old god and also objected to her using him/Alistair to further her own ends. He was going to sacrifice himself but Alistair talked him out of it on the grounds he would be a lousy king and taking the dive would be his best act as monarch. That was such an intense and emotional run through because every decision was taken entirely without pre-knowledge.
I also rather liked my male Cousland noble rogue who spared Loghain (who did the ultimate sacrifice) and married Anora. They seemed the ultimate power couple and I'd like to see what the Devs think happened to them.
My other favourite was my female city elf rogue. She was a bit more edgy as a character and prejudiced against humans, because of all she had suffered from them. However, she got on rather well with Morrigan and talked Alistair into doing the dark ritual.
When I got a new computer, I played through Origins again in case we were allowed to upload to the Keep. This time my Warden was a male elf Circle mage. He romanced Lelianna, spared Loghain (who did the sacrifice), married Alistair to Anora and opted for land and a title instead of the Circle boon. He wasn't much into mage brotherhood but didn't favour the Circle system either. As a consequence it seemed as though he had acquired a great deal of political power, particularly since he was also Warden Commander of Vigil's Keep, so it would be interesting to see where this led. He would be fascinated by Solas and enjoy sharing lore.
So my dilemma is, would it be too much having 3 mages in a row as the hero (my canon Hawke is a female mage)? This could be particularly problematic if we have a quest that involves all three since the party would be mage heavy.
Would it be too much to have both the Hero of Ferelden and the Inquisitor as a Dalish? Then again may be the humans would have to admit that we had done a fair bit for Thedas and the Chantry would have to take us off their black list.
Do I want Morrigan to have her old god child? Which means I'd have to go with my city elf. I'll probably keep this one for a later playthrough.
