Where is everyone?
It's so lonely and quiet in here....

Short clip to describe Solas romance ![]()
http://poisonousfjum...lan-solas-first
And a short fanfic of Lavellan/Solas which I thought was cute.
Plus, I'm planning on writing a Solas/f!Trevelyn Friendship fic, but I'm busy with school right now, so I don't know when I'll get around to it. When I do though, I'll post it here.
It will invoke lots of feels, I can assure you.

This can probably be attributed to a bunch of things.
I think a lot of people were just waiting on the LI info, and are now avoiding too many spoilers. Also, we're in an information low period right now, anyway (we're not really anticipating anything else big... maybe class specializations is the last thing I'm interested in, I'm not sure what else there is that's not spoilery). And it's the weekend. It's usually quiet (as the devs are quiet on weekends, so rarely is there anything new to talk about).
The topic of conversation swings between romance related and everything else, and often those have different conversationalists (I, for example, rarely have anything to say about the romance stuff. Iambic pentameter on the other hand...).
And finally, school started up again recently (at least here in the US), so I'm sure several people are back to taking classes (or teaching them), so have less time to forum lurk.
Probably other reasons, too. But those are the ones that come to mind.

Spoilered negative thoughts:
I am saturated with information at this point, and still haven't watched the combat videos or specialization things or seen the achievements - and I don't want to. I just like hanging out with people who have similar mindsets to my own // are willing to discuss subject matter that interests me; and I'm so so so glad BioWare has a forum for me.
Thank you BEEs!

Ah, that makes sense.
I plan to stop with the threads come November 1. Don't want too much spoilery stuff. I think most people get spoiled right before the game comes out. 11/1 seems like a good media blackout point.
I don't think I'll be able to stop myself from being spoiled. These threads are my only form of entertainment right now, aside from fanfiction (but there's nothing I'm interested in being written about/updated so...)

Cute fanfic ^__^
I'm more of a contemplative kind and don't participate much in general, and I'll probably come less often to avoid spoilers too.

as someone with a postgrad degree in wildlife biology and environmental science and that works with animals, my brother, i feel u on a spiritual level
Someone who understaaaands. I'm writing my postgrad thesis now on bats. <OT
Back to the general topic at hand...I find it hard to not spoil myself anymore. I will look at my game guide from time to time (completionist) but I hope it i written in a way that doesn't spoil the story. I do want to know what is preferred by Solas though....>.> Unless I really don't like that option, then he can just tell me off, or hopefully we can reason with.

Same boat here. The only thing I'd prefer not to spoil myself on is the ending, but since I'm going to dive into the game once it comes out and not resurface much until I've finished it, shouldn't be a huge problem. I mean, unless it's so bad that it's considered news, which I really, really doubt. I'll probably pop in (just to this thread) before I'm done, though, because I'm a completionist and this is going to take me awhile. I have a compulsive need to find/do all the things. Solas will be sitting on a rock and calmly reading while my Inquisitor periodically dashes past him, sometimes carrying armor, sometimes jewelry, sometimes fistfuls of elfroot, always with a slightly crazed look in her eye. Fortunately, he seems like the patient type.
I'm just glad I have people to be excited with. ![]()

There's not too much I'm still waiting for in terms of information so I've mostly been keeping myself busy with other things (to keep from going crazy) and poking my head in here occasionally to see what's going on.

I write from time to time, you can PM if you'd like to request something DA related.

Anyways, to comment on astrology, I think it's a fun thing but I don't believe it at all. My boyfriends uncle is a nut for the stuff and he said I was a Pisces. I'm actually a Capricorn. He thought I was lying.
Since I don't fit over half of those traits, I don't think I can use the chart as a reliable source on if Solas and I would get along or not.
Then again, it says me and my fiance (Cancer) are soulmates so..that is interesting.
Not trying to insult anyone who's into that kind of thing, just never been my cup of tea.

I mostly find astrology interesting in terms of the symbolism/history/mythology involved in it. I do believe in it somewhat, but I believe it only scratches the surface of everything a person is - and that's even if you do delve more deeply than the usual sun signs people typically look at. I had my chart done once and it definitely painted an uncannily accurate picture all put together. Not trying to convince anyone of anything, mind you - I think everyone should be allowed to believe (or not believe) in whatever feels right to them
That said, I think people are far too complex for anyone to determine compatibilty based on such a thing... though it can certainly make for a fun read.

Couldn't agree more, I'm fascinated by astrology because of the ancient symbolism and mythology that goes with it. I think natal charts and horoscopes involving sun and moon signs are somewhat more accurate but ultimately I don't think it's completely accurate because we're all complex beings.

I never got a full chart done, but I know I am the sun sign of Aries and I was born in the Virgo moon.
Which I find fascinating because my Dad is a full-blown Virgo sun sign and matches it by quite a lot. And a lot of people jokingly call us "twins" because I am such my father's daughter, so to speak. So, a wild Aries with the analytical mind of a Virgo, basically.
Of course, now that I think about that, my Dad is Virgo and a bit of Solas sounded like a Virgo... nope, nope, no jokes about "Daddy issues", please. LOLOL ![]()

Well, I'm supposed to be a Pisces and I am soooo far away from what one acts and feels (well...maybe not the lazy and indecisive part), its ridiculous.... So I personally don't put much stock into them. ![]()
Now the Myers-Briggs, that one was eerie at how well it described me. (INTP... so beware my unemotional fury.)
Anyway, have another Solas!

So, the conversation seems to be in a lull here, and I'd rather we didn't talk 100% about romance, since we haven't even actually "met" the character yet to know if we'll like him (I hope so, and I hope I will want to romance him in my first playthrough, but I don't KNOW that, yet).
Do you think Solas might have interesting stories he'll share with the Inquisitor/other party members from time to time? I am hoping that, as we wander Skyhold, we can occasionally come across party members interacting with one another, like they did in ME3--maybe more so, even.
I'm guessing Solas has seen and heard and done lots of things. He's mid-40s and that's if the ancient elf theory doesn't pan out--if it does, he may be even more interesting than I suspect he is, now. But, to hear his stories, given that he's an introvert and seems to be a bit of a loner, we'd likely have to draw him out somehow. Would he begin them with "This reminds me of the time when..." or would we just have to outright ask about something he's seen?
Maybe we can encounter Solas sharing tales with Varric sometime? Varric seems like he can make friends with most people--Iron Bull being an exception. I guess what I'm saying is that I hope Solas has interesting stories and is actually willing to share them with SOMEONE within earshot, even if it isn't necessarily the Inquisitor...
But it would be amusing, and a little disappointing, if Solas were to only ever tell one story, and told it different ways to different party members, and the Inquisitor, so that no one knew the "real" story. The implication would then be that either it never happened, or it was the most interesting thing that ever happened to him... or that he had a lot of much more interesting stories he just wasn't willing to talk about.
I don't know, I just love knowing more about the characters, and stories from their lives are a good way to learn it.

Being an introvert, I would suspect that he'd be more like Samara in ME2; but as BioWare has already done the quiet meditator, I would hope that Solas is more available, to teach Cole, assure Bull about the limitations of Fade dreams, joke with Sera about small towns and how they always have the same smell (or some such). I'm sure we'll hear him talking.
That's why I said you might have to draw him out to get a story, or even overhear him talking to someone else who'd managed to draw him out.
Although he's an introvert, I hope it's possible to convince him to tell the Inquisitor stories, etc. Being introverted shouldn't mean that you refuse to socialize. Although if he's asleep most of the time, he might simply be unable to socialize.

He tends to Skyhold's armory. Which of course means that he's the resident beekeeper.

I wonder if he'll have tales of being a child? Like besides finding the Fade. Such as catching frogs, stubbing his toes, eating something delicious and baked. d: People in games never really talk about their childhoods, but I feel that people irl do.

Awww, that'd be so cute! I LOVE that idea. If characters did tell stories like that, it'd make them seem so much more real... real people talk about things like that. A lot of times we remember our childhoods better than things that happened in the recent past!
