Solas Thread - NOW OFFICIALLY MOVED to Cyonan's BSN (link in OP)

I wonder how much music we'll encounter in Orlais? There are bards and minstrels enough that I could hope we might encounter some. Perhaps Solas will have something to say on the matter? Such as having never heard its like, or else then a memory of a Fade dream of a village in celebration, a wonderful Summersday where festivities were awash with joy. He mustn't always see only how ruins fell right?
The music will probably be nothing like this ... but I was trying to segway into sharing this song that's been stuck in my head that I assumed someone else might like:

Do you think Solas might have interesting stories he'll share with the Inquisitor/other party members from time to time?
I think he'll have a lot of interesting stories to tell from the get go. He just seems like he's seen a lot of stuff that he would like to share with someone who he felt had a similar pov and/or was open minded. Since he seems like an introvert i suspect he'll only get into depth about his stories to our inquisitor when we gain his trust. I can't wait to hear what kind of weird things he's seen. I kinda hope we don't have to pull teeth just to get him to open up though. I won't mind doing that when we first meet but I hope it doesn't drag out for too long. Apparently him and Cole get along, so I'm guessing he would chat with Cole about spirits and the fade. I don't know how he'd along with the other companions though. If he ends up being some mystical ancient elf it wouldn't bother me, I think that's a very interesting idea and I'd love to find out the backstory with that. I don't know how central to the plot he'll be but I think he'll end up being the most interesting companion to me. There's a lot of mystery with him.

I'm interested to hear about his life. I just hope he doesn't have Hahren Paivel Syndrome, where talking to him means you're going to get a big, awkwardly dramatic chunk of exposition in which you are occasionally expected to participate.
Paivel: "Children! Hear the Fall of the Dales!"
Me: "Run away! RUN AWAYYYYYYYY!" *smashes buttons fruitlessly*
Of course, now that we have the option to be completely rude and just bail in the middle of a conversation, this shouldn't be a problem.
Enough devs have talked about the loveliness of his voice that I think we're in for a treat. I'm so curious about his speaking in iambic pentameter. Why? How did they manage this? What'll it be like? And most importantly, how much time will it cause me to waste because I have clicked on him repeatedly to hear it?

(: I'm glad you agree. I definitely thought it was adorable when Isabela speculated on Aveline's red pigtails streaming about as she ran around as a brash little girl.

Because I'm DAI obsessed lately the the latest Outlander ep made me wonder if Solas has learnt any old elvhen songs. Not that I want a repeat of the Leliana camp awkwardness but something he sings to himself that the Inquisitor can overhear and ask about.

Since the fade seems to retain impressions of moments of high emotion I would not be surprised if Solas was familiar with ancient musical and stage performances as those would definitely be emotional experiences. I hope there is some dialog with him about something like this, not just horrible events, but some of the high points of Elvhen civilization as well.

Speaking of his past... do you think he was bald as a child too? Ok, now I want to see little baldy Solas, fan art anyone?
I remember when we knew nothing about him, people were speculating the reason why he was bald. It was pretty funny!

I know, right? I can't wait to hear more of his voice. They worked a lot to give it a unique sound, I wonder why? Is it related to the fade? I guess we'll learn more about it in november (that seems so far away *sigh*), I doubt we'll be seeing new videos for companions at this point
Guy, GUYS! I just pre-ordered my copy of DA:I and I'm exited like a 8 year old
I know it's off topic, I'm sorry, I just wanted to share the news with some awesome people (really, this is the only thread I lurk constantly... and one of the fews in which I ever posted).

Omg I just burst out giggling imagining Solas being bald since childhood. Like an elf version of Caillou LOL
I got access to the Keep today so that'll keep me entertained from here until the release date since I don't think they'll release too much else. ^^;

Also there is a link at the front page of this thread that leads to a video at GamesCom with Cameron Lee where you can hear him when they are talking to the Avvar.

Hey, Solas, you're at, what, half-health? No, I need my potions. Didn't elves used to be immortal? Try regenerating. #AssQuisitor
Listen, Solas, you get potions once you accept Andraste as your personal savior. Don't elves worship trees and rocks and stuff? #AssQuisitor
Solas, that greedy bastard...

Though I guess that means Solas isn't all big on Andraste...?

I'm not racist, Solas. But listen, it's "Harold & Andraste", not "Merrill & Andraste", mmkay? #AssQuisitor #UnclearontheCodex
These just keep getting better and better.

Patrick is enjoyng quite a bit the "role" of unsufferable Inquisitor... ![]()
So, Solas is not an Andrastian fan...not surprisingly. I think he may have more in common with the Dalish, without being one himself. Like Winnie's ex apprentice (can't remember the name.)

Also, OT but.... well I was listening to this this morning:
And it was a few minutes in when I realized I was quoting what he was saying word for word as he was saying it. So, basically we were speaking at the same time. It was really weird.....

For those of you planning to romance Solas with a mage...

There's something really warm and fuzzy happening in my chest every time I see how much people like that video.
My intention when I posted it originally was to explain iambic pentameter to people who didn't know what it was (not even thinking about the fact that it was a speech about love...). Now I see people enjoying it so much, so I really hope it's not just speculation and that Solas speaks with it often! (I would be especially happy if the speculation surrounding the symbolism of it in Shakespeare is also a thing and not just me showing off my geekitude
).
This is going to sound really dumb and sappy and nerdy and like the teacher that I am, but I really hope it inspires some people who ordinarily wouldn't to try out reading (or attending or viewing) some Shakespeare. I would say that a good place to start is to understand that it's not as high brow as you think (it's seriously half lewd jokes and pop culture references from the time because it was meant to appeal to the common rabble just as much as the noble audience).
Because it's off-topic, I will spoiler this video, but this is a great primer on Shakespeare - fair warning, it's 1.5 hours long!:

As someone planning on playing a male (elven) mage, I'm looking forward to interacting with Solas a lot, even though I'm not pursuing a romance. Comments like this get me all excited for the game! The only thing keeping the edge off of me getting impatient is that I don't currently have a system that can run it

"Solas is a romance female elf only" eh? Clearly Thedas's version of Jack Harkness hasn't made his appearance yet.
... And I am ashamed I sat on that comment for so long.
