I've been lurking in this thread for awhile. I'm pretty sure Solas's romance will be my first playthrough. Also, his voice was meltworthy in video from gamescom.
"Solas is a romance female elf only" eh? Clearly Thedas's version of Jack Harkness hasn't made his appearance yet.

As someone planning on playing a male (elven) mage, I'm looking forward to interacting with Solas a lot, even though I'm not pursuing a romance. Comments like this get me all excited for the game! The only thing keeping the edge off of me getting impatient is that I don't currently have a system that can run it
*hopes I can get my new PC built in time because I need it for work anyway...*
But, for my second playthrough I plan to roll a human mage, and I look forward to Solas' friendship arc as a non-elf and fellow mage almost as much as his romance. And I love the idea of class- specific dialogue in general.

At first I was skeptical but now I want him on my Inquisition Team. I was never a fan of elves but he might change that.

I'd like to see how Varric and Solas will interact. Expecially in Skyhold. I have this feeling Varric will have some conversations/scene with various companions in the tavern.

I believe he said the skill tree was a dare. The speculation about Solas started with this tweet:

When you leave stuff on coworker while you go on vacation and have to specify that in case it comes up, this bit is in iambic pentameter.

And I admit I was the one who got all symbolic on everyone and waxed eloquent about Shakespeare and what it means when characters speak in iambic, the difference between that, prose and rhyme, etc., etc., and it ended up fitting so well with our current perception of the character that it became a popular idea. (that video of Kenneth Branagh speaking it certainly helped)

There were also some tweets joking about there being some rhythm only known to Patrick Weekes and Gareth David Lloyd... Along with the comment by Weekes that Solas speaks half in verse. (I'm on my phone so even if I could find the exact quote, I couldn't post it - at least not very legibly...) so, even if Solas doesn't speak in iambic pentameter all the time, we can certainly speculate that he has a unique way of speaking.
If he does speak in iambic pentameter...well, I was an English major, I'm going to go into geek mode..
I'm the same, I'm goings nuts - even rereading some Shakespeare to study up. XD When Solas makes his appearance you can bet I will be paying attention then screaming "THERE IT IS THERE IT IS I FOUND IT."
So I've been thinking about why I feel drawn to Solas despite being pro-templar and not finding him attractive. I mean, GDL could read me the phone book but so could Greg Ellis. And I think it's that Solas has a passion--dare I say vocation?--for studying the Fade, and no one will keep him from that. He projects an air of ccconfidence and certainty. He's a man who knows who he is and doesn't need the Inquisition to tell him, nor does her strike me as a romance over all type. That's very appealing.

Have to say I agree with this. Maybe he'll be different in game, but so far everything has suggested this isn't too far off the mark. I can really appreciate characters like that.

It's driving me crazy. I feel like /I'm/ lucky for liking such a unique bald elf. 
You know you're too deep into fictional characters when you're the one who feels like this.
Forums are understandably slow due to the slow news as well as the LI confirmations, and it is probably better since I'm well into school, but I do miss this thread updating multiple pages a day. : (
