Just by what info we have gotten lately on skyhold....this has really got me excited...and a bit nervous. That's going to be a lot of work fighting the enemies strengthening and growing an army of soldiers, making allies, and now dealing with what goes on in a castle.

This game sounds so Amazing already! ^^

If Solas isn't in the library where else do y'all think he'd be at? I'm just guessing but maybe in the Garden? :)

The garden sounds plausible. He might also enjoy a mage's tower, if we build one.

Speaking of Skyhold and the disrepair we find it in...  I have this crazy vision of Dorian (well educated and a bit arrogant), Iron Bull (versed in the physics of siege engines and fortifications) and Solas (knowledge of ancient Elvhen building techniques) arguing over how to rebuild Skyhold while Inquisitor watches them with confusion.

Dorian: No, no, no.  That wall is not designed to bear that kind of load.  Just look at this equation, we would need to triple the thickness to withstand the forces that design would put on it.

Iron Bull: Defense is important.  We need at least 8 trebuchets there for defense.

Solas:  You are looking at it the wrong way.  If the trebuchets were constructed using this design we would have much lighter structures capable of twice the range.

Dalish inquisitor:   <_<

If Solas were to desire children, sure, what the heck? If not, no biggie. I can see him as an adorable dad though - stern, but ready to snuggle up with his kids and read a story. ^_^

Terrwyn: Solas, the kids were supposed to be asleep an hour ago!

Solas: They kept saying one more chapter, so-

Terrwyn: Do I need to bring Aunt Cassandra in here?!

Kiddies: NOOOOOOO *dives into their beds*

XD

I recreated Solas and Terrwyn in Sims 3 and so far Terrwyn is on her way in the military career, and Solas is becoming an author. I have to remind him to eat though.

"Dude...you're starving. You're literally starving right now. Put down the freakin' book and-NO DON'T PICK UP ANOTHER ONE GO FREAKIN' EAT. I will remove free will, I'm not kidding!'

EDIT

My theme for Solas.

Solas is third from the bottom ;)

Enjoy~! :D

So I'm just going to back up here real quick for a second because I feel like you need to know... I opened that, jumped down to the bottom without looking at what it was about, and then jeRKED BACK SO HARD THAT I FELL OVER ONTO THE DOG. Who then proceeded to yelp and jump off the sofa and land on one of the cats who then proceeded to scream and wail psychotically. Much hissing and barking and running ensued.

I-I... was not expecting lingerie...

Also someone send help because the ones that got my attention were Alistair, Anders, and...Blackwall... [hangs head in shame]

GODDAMN HUMAN GRAY WARDENS what is wRoNg with me.

Also that bit about Cullen's hips... o///o wHAT IS HaPpEnInG I don''t even LIKE Cullen I've NeVeR liked Cullen...! ...I do like hips, tho... like, a lot... u-uhhh... u///u...

So, in general... thanks. Thanks for that.

Now someone douse me in water and make Solas say something nerdy so I stop trying to fall back into bad habits... [fans self]

Wouldn't Solas saying something nerdy just cause more bad habits?

On the subject of babies, anyone remember Throne of Bhaal and how Aerie suddenly reveals she's pregnant?    I don't recall any conversation beforehand about whether my guy wanted to have babies.   And considering the fact that he tended to transform when he got worked up during sex, I'd kind of assumed we'd given up on the physical, which meant it had to have been a sort of one off.    Still it didn't present much of a problem and she was planning to stick it in a baby back pack and carrying on as normal.

I thought the Devs said there would be no marriages in Inquisition, so I'd imagine no babies either, in which case it would just be a hypothetical thing.   Still, for those people who are so against the idea of kids, have you noticed how no one ever mentions contraception in game?    So what's the deal; are we just meant to assume people are using protection or does everyone have very low fertility?    In Origins the answer to the latter was yes, because the Wardens are known to find it hard to conceive but what of Hawke?    Admittedly Fenris found a very novel way of preventing pregnancy by simply staying out of the bedroom for 3 years, whilst expecting Hawke not to dally elsewhere, but Anders, Merrill and Isabella you have to assume were getting together with Hawke on a fairly regular basis and yet no consequences.

So I don't see anything wrong with some characters wanting a relationship that is leading to something more than just sex.    I'm not a "jump into bed with anyone" sort of person myself.    If they ask for a long term commitment first, well and good.   If they want a relationship that is leading to children, fair enough.     If my Inquisitor is not looking for that sort of relationship, then it's best to find out early on before I do get too involved.     If that's the sort of relationship I'm looking for, then I'd want to be able to say so too.      To be honest, I've become somewhat tired of people coming on to me and then walking out the following morning.   It would make a nice change to discover their relationship issues before giving them my heart.

So I'm in favour of Solas being honest about what he is looking for in a romance, rather than a situation where he uses my non-elf Inquisitor and then turns around afterwards and says it can't continue because........ (insert reason).

Yup no consequences , no matter what lol F!Hawk + Isabella = no babies lol Although if it happen....I think bela would sail without meh .

But kidding aside , I doubt the issue is the 'baby' part as such .  (so far apparently it is mostly speculation) but apparently what irk the peoples was that 1)he want only elve babies and 2) that it maybe have babie or the romance is off . And truly , if that is the case it would suck especialy for (2) . So yeah , would be nice if the romance would offert many solution to have (1) babies , (2) to adopt no-elf babies , (3) to say no to babies but the romance stay as well .

As for Aerie , I think she lose the baby once you are far in her romance .

For me, it's completely realistic and doable to have a committed relationship that's more than 'just sex' without babies OR marriage. I mean, speaking purely in DA terms, I really can't imagine my Hawke and Fenris getting married and they DEFINITELY don't want kids (as an aside, I seem to recall Word of Gaider stating that Fenris's lyrium markings made him infertile, but don't quote me on that :P), but you'd better believe they're committed xD I'm just really not keen on the idea of commitment absolutely having to equal marriage and babbes.

Idk, this is kind of a sensitive issue for me and I'm probably offending people or sounding confrontational. I don't mean to be insult anyone's preferences because everyone had their own, but the whole idea of a healthy, committed relationship that's meaningful having to inevitably lead to marriage and kids just really rubs me the wrong way :(

Nope, I've been to check and Aerie can definitely have a healthy baby born in game.      With regard to Isabella/Merrill naturally I meant the result from a male Hawke romance.   May be they went to Anders for some sort of contraception drug; after all he dispenses stuff for STDs, so may be he knows natural/magical remedies for pregnancy too.

Saying the romance is off for refusing to have babies would only suck if someone did that after they had led you down the path of romance and even bedded you.   That effectively is what happens with Alistair, particularly if you are not a human noble.    There are racial issues too.    Yes, you can continue if you are willing to be just his mistress but if you consider that demeaning then effectively that's it.    Alternatively you just don't make him king.

So I see nothing wrong with a companion taking a particular line regarding race or babies or whatever, provided they are up front and make it clear before you get too involved.     From what I have read, the onus is on us to get the relationship going; presumably no repeat of Zevran asking up front if you are interested.    If this is the case, then with Solas presumably no situation arises when you can express an interest and be rejected or alternatively if you seem too friendly, he will let you down gently as to why it is a non starter.     Looking back to Baldurs Gate 2, that was the case with Viconia; apparently she wasn't into elves so she never showed any romantic interest in your character if you were one.

If it doesn't happen in-game, I will be happy with head canon. For my first playthrough with my Female Amell and Zevran, they would have a little girl post game. F!Hawke and Anders, I am trying to decide if they do or not...probably so during the three year gap between Act 2 and 3.

Actually, in DAO, Wynne in a banter conversation with Alistair mentions there's a way to prevent children, so I think it's just as much a matter of choice in the Thedas world, and it may involve magic since Isabella will discuss the opposite, fertility charms I think? Children are people, not toys or pets, and many responsible people understand that and realize that they don't want to make the sacrifice of time, etc. involved in being completely responsible for a small person. I have two grown children and still melt at the sight of babies myself, but there are games that let you role play that sort of thing without inappropriately suggesting that it's fine to risk an infant in combat. Discussed as a possibility post-finale in game, sure. But we don't even know that that's going to come up in relation to Solas. Myself, I'd prefer anything like that to be left to head cannon so people can imagine it the way they individually want things to happen.

Thinking like that...yeah, I can get behind head canon. The danger part is what is making me struggle a bit with Amell's/Zevran'd child because the birth might occur just before Awakening begins.

Since Zevran isn't with Amell at Vigil's Keep, he could be taking care of their child (and who better to guard a child than an assassin, lol.)

I haven't run Awakening with a Zevran LI, so I'm not certain. But presumably you'd have to do something to conceal the parentage of a mage's child anyway?

Yeah...I always thought getting Eamon and Isolde involved until after the events and she get her child back. Then she leaves during Act 3 of DA2 with her child to find Zevran.

I'm sure having children in Thedas is a matter of choice.   It's just odd that outside of a bit of banter, which you could miss, the matter is never addressed in game.   People suggest all sorts of reasons why you shouldn't be in a relationship with a person; I believe Varric offers a friendly caution no matter who you are with but no one ever suggests that pregnancy could even be a problem.     In fact very often the opposite is true and all the problems centre around the possibility of not getting pregnant, apart from that one pregnancy involving Emile de Launcet that was put in for comic effect.      Just seems odd really.

I don't know about Thedas, but I know in one of the Tolkien elvish languages (Sindarin, maybe?) the word for light is "galad." Hence, Gilgalad's name means "starlight" and Galadriel's is "maiden crowned with a radiant garland" or something like that.

So, possible option if you don't find the answer.

Speaking of names, I laughed so hard when Patrick said his Assquisitor's name is YOLOSwag420. Now I'm picturing us all discussing the hidden meaning behind our names and they're just like "LOL I named my guy, Guy."
