Ooooh, I like those. I miss so much stuff, I need to spend more time on these forums. Actually I need to spend more time on college, but the internet is more fun.

That information about Master Varathorn is really interesting because I never got that. Must have spoken to him in the wrong order. The idea that Mahariel's Keeper father might have been more liberal and forward thinking, whilst his mother's clan was more like the one in Masked Empire makes a lot of sense. From what Ashale says, the objections all seem to come from her clan rather than his; well he was the Keeper so I suppose his clan had to go along with it. It does fit quite nicely with my Dalish mage apprentice, since she thinks they should have more contact with the city elves, even if she starts the game not extending that idea to humans. In view of Mahariel's father's views, it was a sad irony that he lost his life to group of human/city elf bandits.
I looking forward to hearing Solas' backstory. Mind you I wonder if he will be as cagey and secretive about it as Felassan was. I'm pretty sure it isn't as straight forward as simply growing up in a village and then leaving because of Templars.

For Solas, #LiveTheDream or #TapThatSolass
Primarily because there is already a #TapThatCass, my vote is for #LiveTheDream.

I just had the conversation with Master Varathorn two or three days ago which is why it came to mind. If you tell him you haven't seen your clan for some time, he talks for a bit about how sad that is, and he knew your father, including "He spoke at a gathering telling the clans that more of us need to voyage into the shemlin world and learn their ways. He would be proud to see his son (daughter) as a Grey Warden, I think."

I like how his dialogue implied that that some clans have informal get togethers. Mahariel's mother could be from Valanna's clan because I don't see Zathrian objecting to the match, his hatred for humans seemed focused on the ones who hurt his children. That Keeper not being Ilshae obviously.
The Keeper could do a lot to shape how the clan interacts with the rest of the world. The Lavellan clan for example could have been one of the bandit clans for a long time, enticing a lot of city elves to join up, but circumstances and a strong willed Keeper forced them to go deeper in the Green Dales and put aside their hate for the shemlen in favour of day to day survival.

Thanks for that. I would imagine a speech like that at a gathering of the clans would definitely have raised a few eyebrows to say the least! It may be that I did get the conversation but it is such a long time ago, I had forgotten it; my Dalish Warden was my first and after around seven different Wardens it becomes difficult to remember everything. Whilst his speech was probably made too long ago for my girl to have heard him personally, I dare say she would have heard about him. Anyway I can now add Keeper Mahariel to Shartan in my list of elven role models for my Inquisitor.

I agree. Besides, #LiveTheDream is far classier and much more appropriate.
Agreed. Much classier.

Lol, then he's the prettiest male elf I've seen in quite some time. XD Thought, due to the prettiness and the hairstyle, was based on that 'concept' thing of the elven Inquisitors. My mistake. ![]()

It's very androgynous, I think. I'm leaning toward it's a male elf though. He/she doesn't have much in the chest department. ![]()

I was just over there and said I thought we'd settled on #LiveTheDream, since we've talked about it in here before and that's the only one I remember everyone liking...but feel free to go over and correct me if you all want something different! I think #LiveTheDream is cute, myself. Even though #TapDatSolass is the, um, more accurate unofficial theme of my first playthrough. Because dirty mind. ![]()

I was already hoping to play an Inquisitor that was majorly embarrassing, this just made me want it more ![]()
Also, there was a coin with Solas' profile posted some pages back. I totally imagined my Inquisitor making that the currency of Inquisition territory in Thedas, with Solas in the corner slowly going redder and redder.
"I came out of solitude for this?"
"Hush, I am simply spreading the glory of Solas."

I really hope we aren't totally limited by the three main personality options (those are about the same tone as DAII, right? I'm having trouble keeping up) because I would totally like to scandalize anyone unfortunate enough to interact with an Inquisitor like the one you described. A Cloudcukoolanderquisitor would be fun, too. Or a Fishoutofwaterquisitor. If I am playing a Dalish inquisitor I would at least like to ask what it's like to kiss someone with facial hair or act bemused while exploring a kitchen.
