Welp, maybe Sera has crushed expectations when it comes to the people in charge taking care of the people in need; Solas has crushed expectations with people being narrow-minded (aka he does not enjoy people/society as a whole); and Cole has crushed expectations reference his existence and/or the living he encounters?

I'm guessing te crushed expectations is characters who approached the Inquisition instead of the other way around, perhaps thinking Quizzy has some great answers to this whole fade dillema

I gravitate towards the more light-hearted, snarky characters (as opposed to angsty-broody-pants, or mean-spirited sarcasm). I'm very happy with how Solas is described so far, I would just be extra happy if that last element of playful/funny is included.

Well, Sera, Solas, and Cole are all living on the fringes in some way and not by choice. I imagine that could crush some expectations.

Ooh, I didn't even think of who to match with him - I'm interested in pairing Solas with a mage and have him "teach" her/him his POV and technique, if that's a thing that can be done in-game.  Personality-wise, he seems the type that might do well with a gregarious person who pulls him out into society a bit more?

From the OP. This worries me, what is team crushed expectations? Does that mean not an li? Sera is female only, crushed male het gamers expectations. Cole is not LI because, well it's Cole. I'm worried Solas isn't an LI and that gives female het gamers no companion LI options. Iron bull doesn't count due to either being a fling or a niche.

I think that "crushed expectations" has to do with story things and the characters themselves, not with the fan community. Sera, Cole, and Solas are each hoping for something during the course of the game, and those hopes end up being frustrated somehow.

I had guessed "crushed expectations" meant that the characters would be something you didn't expect or show a side of things you don't expect. Solas really challenges given beliefs about the fade and spirits. Cole is the same idea. Sera seems like she should be the typical self serving "rogue" type, but she's actually very selfless and idealistic.

Haha, I'm in the same boat! Of course, the dialogue options they give us will determine a lot, so I try not to decide much until I'm actually playing the game.

Same here! If he's a LI I'm totally going with male Dalish as my first play through and if not then my first will be a female Qunari.

 

huh, he seems to me the most interesting of the male companions to have a romance with, yet I dont get any romance vibes/hints from him (as someone else already mentioned too)

 

but then I am a hetero guy, so no Idea if the ladies feel like that too. For me he is definately a guy I would like to travel with.
