Congratulations on your new little one, Jewlie. Kids are the best.

And, back to Solas, I suspect his romance will be less drama filled than some of the others. It is one of the reasons I think he will fit well with my Dalish rogue.

So sad about the rogue Specializations... They all seem to favor dual daggers. Assassin has always had dagger skills and tempest seems to be close quarters... The only one plausible for archers is artificer and I hate HATE dealing with traps. //sigh.

Guess it's DA2 all over again and I won't use any Specializations. I was hoping we'd have one that was more archery based.

 

It looks like Sera was using flask abilites while equipped with a bow and they sort of enchanted the arrow. I'm not quite sure how it fits lore wise though. Throwing flasks we've done before and if that's been expanded into primal damage* I'm fine with that but powering up weapons on the fly is creeping too much into magic territory for my taste. 

 

edit: I'm a forgetful idiot DAO had lightning, fire etc flasks so DAI would be bringing those back.

Firstly, oh my goodness, I've been gone for awhile. So....... Hi? Been so busy with school work.....

 

Secondly, congrats to Jewlie for the little tyke!

 

Now thirdly, my mage Lavellan will be my first playthrough. Then after that, I think I would either do my male duel dagger Lavellan or my male archer Lavellan. Or maybe my warrior Adaar. Or my mage Trevelyn. Still not sure.

Anyways about the Romance I'm just guessing and I think it will be Romantic he is an Introvert but he is nails and just because he is an introvert doesn't mean it's going to be not Romantic. Maybe he will be a bit nervous at first but once him and your Inquisitor gets to know each other he will be comfortable around her and express his feelings more and I really hope he writes poetry and he writes one for our Inquisitor.

I wonder too, I think he'll probably view it neutrally, at least I hope so, i don't want him to not like my Lavellan if she uses it. I think he'd be pretty open minded about it. 

So i'm guessing Solas is a rift mage but a hedge mage too?

And now I wish we'd get a cutscene where Solas has had enough and stands indignantly in the middle of the camp, hands on hips, to announce, "You are all. IDIOTS."  After which he'd stalk off.  I love Sam.

 

I'm so glad they put up the specialization descriptions. Rift Mage sounds seriously cool. Torn between Tempest and Assassin for my rogue, though. Tempest sounds interesting, I just...really like being an assassin. Of course, the thought of pairing Solas with an elf who's apt to dash into battle shooting off sparks after dumping a bottle of liquid fire over her head (cackling madly, I imagine) has definite appeal! We'll see...I'd like a look at the talent trees, though we'll probably have to wait until release for those.

 

Romance-wise, I still think Solas is going to be oblivious until you knock him over the head with it. And then he'll need to process it, after which he'll pursue the Inquisitor in a manner both very awkward and quite charming.  That'd be cute, anyway.

So far I'm reading him as confident, but...under socialized. So I can see him more as the type to accidentally insult you or just flat out ignore (because he doesn't get it) than to blush and fall over.

Not that it won't be cute! But I think the "awkward" romances will be Cass and Cullen....they seem like emotions sort of teem under the surface and burst out. I think Solas will be a bit cooler. (Standoffish, not shades and ripped tennis shoes...although is be down with that) I bet he'll have some really cute ways to show affection though.

This is pretty much how I see it as well - that Solas will be really oblivious - until he's not, at which point he'll be really direct. I could see him saying things that are rather funny without him meaning them to be. A little awkward, socially, but sweet in his earnestness. That would be neat to see.

My canon character is still going to be my assassin rogue with a Solas romance.  Just can't stay away from the rogues.  Will certainly do an artificer rogue with my dwarf lady (who will romance either Blackwall or Iron Bull - I'm leaning toward Iron Bull at this point).  My tempest rogue will likely be human, but I might go with Qunari and romance Josie - not sure on that one yet.

 

I have a Dalish rift mage planned for Cullen - I expect sparks will fly on both sides for that one - not the comfortable romance I envision with Solas.  And Dorian gets my radical change the world human mage - not sure on specs but probably Knight Enchanter.  I will run at least one Qunari mage but I don't know who she will romance, probably whoever my dwarf rogue didn't romance.  Cassandra gets my only warrior character I have planned - a romantic at heart, my human warrior will be her Ser Lancelot.

 

Ugh, I have a lot of back stories to write and only clear visions for a few of them (Dalish rogue, Dalish mage, Dwarf rogue, Human mage, Human warrior, and a vague vision for a Qunari- a bit of a lost soul).  LOL, I'll be playing my planned characters until this time next year if this game is anywhere near as awesome as it looks to be.

 

I hope the devs have some idea of how much we appreciate all the hard work and extra hours they put into this.  Yes, it is just a game, but Bioware has opened my eyes to so many things that I have little exposure to as a married with kids woman in a small agricultural town.  I have to say that being part of this community is one of the best things that has happened in my life (outside of my husband- yup he's my Ser Lancelot, kids and career).    So many people argue that games are not art, or that art has no ability to effect social change.  I would argue that Bioware is the strongest argument that these statements are false.

Apart from My Dalish Rift Mage that's going to romance Solas in my first playthrough, I have some plans for other Inquisitors.

I have a Male Qunari Warrior for Cassandra, he may have Berserker spec.

A Female human Warrior for Cullen, she will be pro-templar and have the Templar spec. EDIT: ooh, maybe a necromancer mage for Cullen, lol.

A Female dwarf rogue for Blackwall, I'm thinking she may be a tempest.

And due to the cute fanart I have seen, I will romance Sera with a Qunari Archer

I haven't been here in a while so thought I'd drop by! Hey lovelies! I have birth to a healthy baby girl September 3rd (since I know a bunch of you knew I was pregnant.) and things are great!


Also, wanted to just come in and say Solas is going to be my first romance I do in the game. With a mage named Amari. I'm thinking she'll have black hair and green eyes... I'm also excited to see the vallaslin we can get in game. Hoping its more similar to the ones in origin as I loved them!

I've been debating with myself for a while over who is getting the rouge and who is getting the mage in my Solasmancing and Seramancing playthroughs but that made up my mind.  Solas is getting the rouge.

Since I drew all of the earrings, could you imagine the pain all of that would cause? Vivienne insists on the jewelry to draw attention away from the fact she is Elven.

She's feeling a bit homesick as well

 

I don't know how it will all play out in the game, but this was just for fun.

I've been lurking for a while because I'm socially awkward and I enjoy creepily following from afar but I really want to say you are all great and this thread is one of the best ever! So full of lovely people discussing a fascinating character... And beautiful art as well! Keep up the quality!
