I already decided my characters would be on the upper end of the age range, so the elf I'll play will be fairly close in age to Solas anyway. Unless there's something in-game that directly contradicts it she'll also have had a life and children in her younger years. She'd be able to join in the kids these days talks just fine. ![]()

I would have to say I'm the same way. I like that he is an older character that has a different perspective on the Fade than what he have seen in the games. If anything, his age and his views are some of the reasons why he is going to be my first romance.
I think he would get along well with my Mage elf, since she is essentially the first of the Keeper and learning the old ways is a big part of her life.
When I saw that he was potentially around 20 years older than me if he's in mid 40s my reaction was more "Oooh, DILF"
I'm so vulgar sometimes
It's okay
But really, I think it adds to his appeal. I think he may be the oldest LI so far?

I got a question for Solassians who are going to romance him.
Patrick Weekes said that he is in his early-to-mid forties and often have "kids these days" talks with Blackwall.
Has this information wavered your decision to romance him at one time? or do you have a headcanon about your Inquisitor's age? Or do you just not care at all?
Opinions?
Edit: I'm sorry if this had been brought up before
Hell no, I'm 41 and and I'll play a self insert!
Edit: I needed to add a comma...it was driving me nuts...

When I heard about the age I didn't really care. Actually, it sounded even more interesting. Even in my teens I've always tended to crush hard on characters on the older side (and now that I'm 27 that older side doesn't seem that far away anymore
), so it didn't really affect my choice. Also couples with remarkable age gaps? Yes please! Though this time with the inquisitor being of undefined age I had already decided that I wanted to play her in her mid thirties for a change, since the warden and Hawke at the beginning of the game were definitely younger, so not such a big gap.
Anyway I'm really looking forward to seeing how the relationship is handled (understatement of the century)!

However it's very weird to think of him being like 20 when she was just born...makes me think of that scene from Twillight I think with the werewolf guy and imprinting on the baby haha;;

Can a non-Solassian answer?
I'm in my early thirties. My first Inquisitor will be in her early twenties. So no the age difference doesn't bother me. I'm starting to think I might have a thing for older men/younger women in fiction. Come to think of it, said Inquisitor will probably like him (human, alas)

Myself, I'm thrilled because I've wanted LIs close to my real age, but more important is that it sounds as if we're allowed to RP as somewhere between 20 and 40ish. So you don't have to RP a big age gap unless you want to. But I think Blackwall has been hinted to be a little older than Solas (mid to late 40s, I think?)

Going off of appearance Blackwall looks older. Solas just seems like he be the most mature of the love interests, witch I'm all for because it feel different from the others. Think I role play my female quzzy as early 30s, I'm 19. Yay Solas thread

45 year old married woman here. And though I don't self-insert (and will RP varied races/genders/sexualities/AND ages), I must admit, I am a little tickled by the older fare BW has offered us....in the LI department.
The two LI's I believe will romance him are both over 30. Dalish Rogue will be in her early 30's, while my Dalish mage will be closer to 40.

Hello there, Solassians! I think I'm a new convert to the cult. I had originally intended on romancing my first inquisitor with Iron Bull, but I've fast become fascinated with Solas.
I can totally picture him and my rift mage to have a student/teacher dynamic going on at first. Very professional. And then they'd slowly realise their crush for one another, but of course they'd keep it a secret for the longest time because they're both introverted and socially awkward. They'd constantly catch eachother's glance from afar and have these awkward silences and then Solas would clear his throat and walk off, then later kick himself for not admitting his feelings. Andandand... *dreamy sigh*
I think about these things way too much lol.

Nah, it's actually made me more excited. Blackwall is an older gentleman, but he reminds me of my father and grandfather in appearance for me to be initially attracted; it will be his personality that will win me over. I find Solas attractive in appearance and what has been revealed about his personality thus far. I also just like older men so...yayyyyyy. XD

I'll soon turn 30, so the age difference isn't that huge. I don't really mind Solas being older than my Quizzie.
In fact, I'd have more problems romancing a younger character. Maturity has something really endearing and mysterious. That's why I almost always preferred Zevran to Alistair. Zev had a past do deal with... Alistair was naive (and reacted as such) in many ways. He felt a bit like a little bro.

I like that Solas is older and more mature and that he's also open minded. I think it will bring a refreshing perspective.

I don't care at all.
Then again, I am 29 and my husband is 42, so we have a 13-year age gap and have been married 7 years now come Oct. 20th. So, figuring I have a bias for the older gents anyway. ![]()

Solas has a mug? A personal mug he carries everywhere with him? That's so cute
Does the Inquisitor get one?

Heh, I'm 25 but I don't think somebody in their forties is too old for me. But that may be because I'm not a particularly fussy woman.
The way I see it mostly though is: people aren't as mature as their age, they're as mature as they act. I've met some really bratty octogenarians and some very grown up kids. If I stop myself from dating someone because they're 5/10/15 years older than me, I may just screw myself out of finding my one true partner, someone who is on the same mental level as non drinking, dalek pun spinning me.
Long story short, I ramble.

Yeah, Solas' age is unimportant to me. I picture my quizzi to be in her mid-twenties anyway (my own age).

To me Zev was in his mid 30s and Fenris his late 20s so Solas being 40 doesn't phase me.
I was thinking of making my elf 25-30 and headcanoning a kid for her anyway and she was always going to be a mother hen.

I hope no one takes this the wrong way, but seeing the various ages on here makes me happy. I was worried for a long time that by the time I was the age I am now (24) video games and fandom would no longer be relevant to me, especially since my mom was always commenting on me being too old for that stuff. Thankfully that didn't happen, but I don't have any female friends that play the kind of games I do or coo over pixels like I do. I almost felt like I was strange. Maybe I am strange, but seeing people of various ages doing the same thing I do has made me realize that at least I'm not strange alone and that it won't matter if I'm still strange twenty years from now. At least now when my mom comments on playing games at "my age" I can say "Candy Crush player say what?"
