My parents are major gamers (they got me into games) and they're in their 50s and 60s. I plan to keep playing games until the day I shuffle off this mortal coil.

I got my daughters started gaming (tabletop and computer) as kids. They're now in their 20s and give me new games regularly. DA:O was a birthday present last year. And here's where I admit that they showed me YouTube clips of cut scenes a year and a half ago and I called Alistair a "puppy" (but they decided I'd like it anyway because I liked Zevran). I think people would be surprised at how many people over 50 play MMORPGs, etc. But if I could have had one wish before this it would have been for at least a few companions (LIs or not) closer to my age (besides Wynne, sigh), which is why I've been so excited about DAI.

I personally think Dreamy would be a good nickname from Varric. It's not immediately obvious like "baldy" but explains a large part of his character.

I have to admit that Solas's age bothered me a little bit at first. He's over 20 years older than me, after all! But that feeling died down quickly because he's awesome and because I already planned to make my Inquisitor a good deal older than me anyways. I wanted her to be about the same age as my Warden and Hawke so she'll be 30-31 at the start of the game. The age gap between her and Solas isn't so large and will probably be cute to make headcanons about, since I doubt the Inquisitor's age will be addressed in game.

 

And I already have her personality planned out but I won't think about anything regarding her backstory until the game comes out and gives me more details. She's going to be a positive, friendly, sociable and kind of emotional Inquisitor who always wants to chat it up with others and seems younger than her age but can get down to serious business when the time calls for it. Hopefully she can pull Solas out of his shell because she'll definitely be trying hard to do that during the game!

 

Also, I nearly vibrated with excitement when I saw Solas's name as one of the possible next pictures! Watch the next one released be Vivienne.

Same here, I can't even be mad. Kind of expected this  Though I honestly think they may be basing it off facebook (though a lot of people voted for Solas there too, but quite a few for Vivi as well) so I don't really think they are paying all that much to the forums or twitter when it comes to "counting" (if they actually are).

I plan on making my quizzi extremely cautious of the other races, especially humans, so I can imagine bringing Solas and Sera along with me a LOT, just to stay in character. xD She's also a bookworm, enjoys studying, adventuring, keeping herself to herself. A total hermit. It'll take her a while to open up and let her guard down, but when she does, it will be to Solas.

 

 

It lets me go loose with my more odd and feminine side, I have a reputation as an aloof, sarcastic tomboy to keep up IRL (I kid, I have no reputation, I'm just odd and pale, people seem to think that's scary)

I've been trying to get my mum into DA since she really enjoys Game of Thrones, I've managed to get her interested in Inquisition so hopefully she may want to play first two games as well. I hadn't thought of showing her youtube clips, I may have to utilise your daughters' idea, if that's okay with them

 

I'm happy about the older LIs too, it really does acknowledge that there's more to the gaming demographic than the sprightly 19 year olds. But I have to say it seems odd that some people are surprised by the age of some gamers, weren't the first gamers getting started in the 70s on the Odyssey and D&D?

even with more vote from the facebook etc, it doesn't explain why Solas have been taken away completely from the list. Or they have decided to reveal him today regardless, or it's a very trollish move.

It's fine, he'll get his time soon enough. Honestly, it's kind of fair after what the Vivienne fans have had to go through. Let them have their fun. Viv looks gorgeous anyway.

 

We're going to be seeing him soon anyway because they first asked either Iron Bull or Cassandra, then Cassandra or Vivienne. So we might see either Cole or Varric and Solas tomorrow.
