Something that will help pass a little time that I've been meaning to post in here for a while now:

 

We're all pretty warm and fuzzy and close-knit in this thread, it's nice and has stimulated me to want to get to know my fellow Solassians even better! So, a little exercize:

 

Get To Know Your Fellow Solassians

Introduce and tell us a little about yourself! Name or alias, age or age-range, gender, orientation, location/timezone, pets - some examples of what you could share if you wanted. But there's no pressure to tell any or all of that - if you'd rather not mention certain things that is of course totally fine, only say what you're comfortable saying. And then here are some questions:

 

- How long have you been a Solassian for?

- What first attracted you to Solas as a character?

- What aspect of Solas's character are you most looking forwards to in DA:I?

- Do you have a favorite piece of Solas art/fanfic/other fan creation?

- What's your pet Solas theory?

I'm RynJ on here but you can call me Ryn. I'm 21 (will be turning 22 right after DAI comes out!), straight and female and currently in my last year of college in New York City (studying journalism)!

 

 

- How long have you been a Solassian for? 

Since almost the start good gosh. I've been a fan since all we had was that magazine picture where his name was spelled wrong, which was back in March I think. I saw the backlash he was getting and decided I would get into the character to counter the negativity. It worked! 

 

- What first attracted you to Solas as a character? 

I thought he had an interesting design and found his air of mystery intriguing. And his food comparison definitely had me interested. Mostly it was finding out that he was a Fade expert that immediately got me curious about him, considering DAI's plot. It wasn't until we got the serious details of his personality that I really fell in love with him, though.

 

- What aspect of Solas's character are you most looking forwards to in DA:I?

I love, love, love that he's designed as an incredibly open-minded character that refuses to take part in the black and white divisions in Thedas. I think that kind of character is exactly what I've been waiting for in the Dragon Age world. His connection to the Fade and spirits is awesome also and I look forward to learning about his views.

 

- Do you have a favorite piece of Solas art/fanfic/other fan creation?

My favorite so far is the one that's currently my avatar! It's by Veusovon on Tumblr.  Shoutout to Allan Schumacher's beautiful drawings of Solas, though!

 

- What's your pet Solas theory?

That he has some connection to the Big Bad. Not saying that he's going to betray us, but I think there will be some sort of link.

 

- Tell us about the Inquisitor you plan to romance Solas with

Solas gets to have my canon Inquisitor; a female elf Knight Enchanter named Cari. She's 30 but looks and sometimes has the aura of someone younger. I plan to play her as a passionate, seemingly optimistic and rather emotional Inquisitor who is always friendly and willing to talk to others and learn their thoughts and cultures. She can get down to business when necessary, though, because being emotional means she can also be quick to anger and quick to want to dispense justice. She's going to be a rather open-minded character also, though she's more open-hearted than open-minded and thus can be kind of rash and a little too emotional in her decision making.

 

I thought her personality would be a good counterbalance to Solas's! I picture them having a dynamic where Solas reminds Cari to hold back, calm down and think through her decisions and Cari reminds Solas to live a little and not stay so isolated.

 

 

Also, because I'm curious: What are your "canon" Wardens and Hawkes, Solas thread? Or at least the ones you plan to use for your Solas-mancing Inquisitor!

 

And if you could have one Dragon Age creature as a pet, which would you choose and what would you name it?

"Inquisitor..?"

Verana pulled her eyes up from a book of ancient Elven scriptures she had been studying that evening. She was sat on a rug on the floor, legs crossed with only the flame of a candle to aid her reading. She squinted her eyes, barely able to distinguish the silhouette in the doorway waiting for her response. It was Solas.

"I shouldn't be lecturing the leader of the Inquisition this late at night, but..."

"No, you shouldn't. You already do that enough as it is," she interrupted with an annoyed tone.

"Oh? I thought my knowledge and expertise were a welcome addition..." He paused, expecting a reply. "Goodnight then, Inquisitor."

"Wait," she said, suddenly. "I'm sorry, Solas. It's just been... a bad day," she sighed, closing her book and laying it down beside her.

"I know. I didn't come here to bother you. I was..." He paused and considered his words. "I was concerned."

She smiled to herself for a second. "No need. I will be fine. The healers have done all that they could for me."

"Oh, I don't doubt that at all. They are very talented. Injuries can be healed after all, but the mind... is a little more complicated."

He took a cautious step forward, entering her quarters. She was now able to see the stoic and calm expression on his face and it somehow comforted her. She rose up to her feet, dusting off the dirt from the floor and watched him approach her. He was always so quiet and graceful with his footing, as if he contemplated each and every step.

He stopped an arm’s distance away from her and peered at her with caring eyes. He didn’t say a word. Just waited.

“This is too much responsibility,” she said, rubbing her arm as if there was a chill in the air. She always rubbed her arms when she was nervous or stressed, he noticed. “I don’t know if I can do this, Solas.”

“You speak as if you are alone in this.”

She daren’t meet his eyes with hers. Right now all she wanted – or even needed - was his embrace and she was afraid that if she looked at him she would act upon her own feelings.
“I feel alone,” she said, turning her back to him. Oh, if only he’d put a hand on her shoulder. She could only wish and hope.

Verana was wearing the beautiful pine green gown she had worn to dinner that evening. Vivienne had graciously sent it to her with a note politely reminding her she needed to look more Orlesian. She felt a bit foolish wearing it, since it was a size too large, but Solas thought she looked stunning, and even more so now. The back of the dress draped down her back, exposing some of her lightly-freckled tanned skin. He gazed at her longingly before realising and snapping himself out of it. This isn’t what he came here for.

“Well, for what it’s worth, I would not be here risking my life if I had any doubt you could win this war.”

She turned back to him and smiled. “I’m glad you are, Solas. You’ve been...” She paused for a moment. Solas lifted his brow in anticipation and curiosity. “A valuable asset to the Inquisition.”

“Ah,” Solas muttered, his heart sinking to the pit of his stomach. “Well, that is what I’m here for, is it not?”

Verana simply nodded and gave him a half-smile.

He cleared his throat, hoping the look of disappointment was not quite so clear on his face.

“I should take my leave. Maker forbid what the others would think if someone caught me in here at this hour. Sleep well, Inquisitor.”

And with that, he turned around and disappeared from Verana’s quarters as quietly and gracefully as he entered.

I will be using my Warden who married Alistair and is a Rogue. My Hawke will be my male Hawke Jack. He is a Sarcastic Hawke and is a Mage who romanced Isabela. ^^

Hi all my fellow BEES! I'm AnimeLavellan, though my actual name is Taylor. I'm female and will be turning 17 in October. I'm of the assumption that I'm bisexual, though that may very well change in the future for all I know. I live in Ontario, Canada and I'm part of my high school's school band (clarinet FTW!!). I officially became a Solassian since about July, though I only started posting in here at about mid-August.

 

- What first attracted you to Solas as a character?

 

I was curious about DA:I since I heard that there was a third game coming out, and ended up on the main website. I was looking through things when I saw a certain bald elf mage's profile and then the rest is history. His personality was what drew me in, along with dem thighs and dat Solass.

 

- What aspect of Solas's character are you most looking forwards to in DA:I?

 

Scotch bonnet candies. And him being nails. Need I say more?

Irayna Lavellan is a very inquisitive Inquisitor. She loves learning new things, which is something that she and Solas will probably have in common. She's a mage, though I'm not sure yet which specialization I want her to have (I'm swaying between Rift Mage and Necromancer).

It'll probably be my m!Surana as well as my Diplomatic!Hawke, both of which, ironically enough, are mages. Then afterwards will be my m!Mahariel and my Sarcastic!Hawke (who is, in my opinion, the best Hawke), who are both rogues. Irayna Lavellan will be for my m!Surana/Diplomatic!Hawke playthrough, while I'm tied between Illnar Lavellan or Cyrrian Lavellan for my m!Mahariel/Sarcastic!Hawke playthrough. I'll most likely do both, though Illnar will be riding the bull while Cyrrian will be stroking the stache.

 

Edit: I want a little wolf that I can name Fenris.

Oh jeez, I'm kinda late and haven't posted in a while but, here I go.

 

My name is Pamela and I'm from the Chicago land area.  I'm 33 years old and am currently working a full time job and plan to go to school in Computer Science someday.  I have 2 cats, a black and white domestic named Jake and an orange and white tabby name Jack, also. I don't have a picture of them up on the net right now.

 

How long have you been a Solassian for?

Since I first saw him.  I love mages and love 'em more when they're male.  Most rpgs, jrpgs actually, usually always had female mages(looking at you Final Fantasy) so the concept of a male mage always gets me giddy.

 

What first attracted you to Solas as a character?

His personality, really.  I'm an introvert too and am interested in what his outlook of things are in Thedas.

 

What aspect of Solas's character are you most looking forwards to in DA:I?

I'm really interested in knowing more about Hedge Mages and how he taught himself spells without formal training.

 

Do you have a favorite piece of Solas art/fanfic/other fan creation?

All of them are really good.

 

What's your pet Solas theory?

I don't really have one.  I think he just wants to help.  Maybe he wants to know more about the fade hand thing the Inquisitor has.  Who knows?

 

Tell us about the Inquisitor you plan to romance Solas with.

I am planning a mage but, with what we learned yesterday about there being not one healing spell kind of crushed that.  If the buffs in the game are good and plentiful and other crowd control spells then she'll still be a mage if not, then I'm leaning towards a rogue archer. That'll kill Coles chances of being in the party, though.   Her name will be Chloe, not very elven, and she'll be a bit leery of her role at first but, come around eventually.  She'll try to do what's best and will definitely be pro mage.

We have a lot in common haha. I'm Sarah. My birthday is also tomorrow (October 1st). I'm turning 24. I am also from Minnesota. And I'm panromantic asexual. I recently graduated from art school and I'm a writer and painter. I have only recently gotten back into the Dragon Age fandom after a year and a half long break. Hi Everyone!!!

Basically his entire personality interested me and all the stuff Patrick Weekes has said about him.

I actually quite like the ancient elf theory but am nervous about the "Solas betrays the inquisition" theory.

Either an extroverted elven warrior (Brynne) or a introverted elven mage (Isla) I can't decide which would be a more interesting match with Solas' personality... hmmm

I am [REDACTED] HurricaneGinger. 25, female, heterosexual bi-romantic, and I live in the South. Hey y'all. :3 I have two dogs and a cat. King is a German Shepard/Chow Chow mix. Booker is a Chocolate Lab/Australian Border Collie mix. Axl is... a cat. XD I can't tell what he's mixed with. My favorite colors are dark blue and fuchsia. - How long have you been a Solassian for?

I have been a Solassian for a little while. I stalked the forums, and still do most of the time. 

 

- What first attracted you to Solas as a character?

His concept arts waaaaaayyy back early in the development stage. Of course we didn't know it was him, I just loved the way he looked and hoped he would show up in the game.

 

- What aspect of Solas's character are you most looking forwards to in DA:I?

The fact that he is The Mind is super awesome. Also, he is an introvert, and zings people and they don't even notice. Just...can I have him now please? I just want to curl up somewhere and read with him, seriously.

Her name is Terrwyn, and will be an elven mage in her late 20s. She is used to being isolated from other people due to her training, so she will bond with Solas on that matter immediately.
