I'm Veeia, late 20s, stay at home mom. I like comics and cookies. Obsessed with dwarves.  I'm new to the forums but been a fan of Solas since people on other sites started screaming about him being bald and I went into contrarian mode and decided he was the hottest character of all time ever..but especially became enamored with him when I learned about how he's not a binary/black&white thinker....that's more my style, and it will be fun to finally see that in the series. Mostly I'm looking forward to seeing how he's going to interact with everyone. For some reason I'm especially excited about him & Cass together. I hope they have some good stuff...sounds like Cass is just in the right place to talk to someone who is not as fixated on those absolute truths. I think they'l respect eachother a lot, like philosophical/intellectual enjoyment. Or maybe they'll just argue, Idk.  I have no theories! I"m not a big speculator, at least not for plot. 

 

I don't have a plan for a Solasmance character yet, unfortunately. I'm doing that second, because my loyalty to dwarves supercedes even my interest in Solas. He's totes gonna be BFF with my Cadash though. Even though she's extroverted and obnoxious. Whatever. I'm extroverted and obnoxious, and my husband and many of my best friends are introverted and thoughtful so. It will work out

I'm Marianne, I'm female, 27, straight and happily married to the most amazing man! We've been together 9 years. Currently live in Montreal and I'm basically playing the role of a stay-at-home wife at the moment. I was in university (majored in Japanese) back in Oregon where I grew up about a year and a half ago, but the distance and array of health problems I've had put a stop to that for the time being, and now I'm just trying to figure out what's going on and get healthy. 

 

D works in the video game industry, and I grew up playing games from the time I was 3 years old, so it's a passion we both strongly share and he's very supportive of my odd gaming habits...like importing games from Japan and silly things like that  He's a doll and super supportive. 

 

How long have you been a Solassian for? Since his character was first announced! Originally a Cullen fan (still am) but oddly enough Solas easily nudged his way into first place without much effort.

- What first attracted you to Solas as a character? That war table concept art with him idly standing by, smirking, and looking like he was enjoying all the chaos that the room had erupted into.

- What aspect of Solas's character are you most looking forwards to in DA:I? The fact that he's an introvert is probably the biggest thing for me. That and he joins the Inquisition on his own, and that he seems very knowledgeable.

- Do you have a favorite piece of Solas art/fanfic/other fan creation? Is it a cop-out to say all of the artwork that has been made in this thread? So many talented artists and I'd feel horrible about picking just one. As someone who is creatively challenged, it's been pretty amazing to see it all. Great job guys!

- What's your pet Solas theory? I actually tend to shy away from theories for the most part, lest I get too attached to them and get disappointed when it turns out the complete opposite. Incredibly boring answer, I know

- Tell us about the Inquisitor you plan to romance Solas with. I don't have much yet, but a name (Lushiris) and a white/black color scheme I'll be going for her. Probably white hair/ white/grey eyes, black vallaslin and she'll be a necromancer. Originally wanted to make her a Knight Enchanter but I don't feel it suits her too well, so necro it is!

Quite some time now, I think a little after his name was reveiled.

The very first time? I must admit I was more interested in the "whoa!!!a mage with pants!!!finally!!!  Than I saw a pick of him where his face was visible, And I must admit I was curious about the character. many things I learned about him felt interesting. (and the tread was full of awesome people)

 

- What aspect of Solas's character are you most looking forwards to in DA:I?

beside the romance, I'm quite interested in his expertize of the Fade. And he have a point of view we had never really seen before from an elven mage. Not from the Circle, and not Dalish.

I can totally see Solas with a cat. much more than Anders. Cats like to stay alone and be free, going where they like, no way to force them to do something. And like to nap a lot

I've talked quite a lot about Darel Lavellan already, but well...

She is born from City Elf parents (if Bioware let me) and had always felt the others Dalish treat her like a second class Elf, that have make her very cinic towards the People. She felt more City Elf than Dalish. She didn't left the Clan only for respect of her parents. When the Keeper ask her to spy at the meeting, her parent have just died. This is her last work for the clan. than she could start a new life. Maybe she'll use her expertise as hunter to travel and see the world outside of the Dalish. Maybe she'll reunite with her distant cousins in Denerim, the Tabris.(at least that was the plan)

I haven't posted much lately, (I read the posts when I can but days have been spent taking care of my mother as she recovers from knee replacement surgery) but I'll play!

 

I'm Christina and 43 years old, currently living in Oregon. I stay at home (this term amuses me because it seems I am rarely at home and often leave the house before my husband does!) as a mom to two kids, one husband and three cats. I write, read, Nia, walk and play games when I can.

 

How long have you been a Solassian for?

I confess, I didn't really care for the concept art but when they released the screen shots of him (and got his name wrong) I found I preferred the bald to the mohawk. I also found the more that he was criticized for his looks, the more I really looked at his features and found him beautiful. Now, when someone adds hair (as if that is the only thing that makes someone attractive) it just doesn't fit him.

 

What first attracted you to Solas as a character?

I was intrigued by the snippets we had for his character (awkward and introverted, scotch bonnet candies) but it was cemented with his character interview. Mostly it was just instinctive that I would like his character.

 

What aspect of his character are you most looking forward to in DAI?

His voice, the cadence of his phrasing and the subtle humor that will be there. I look forward to his contradictions of character, the quiet confidence, the being 'nails' without the need for bravado. I look forward to every unexpected moment that he gives us.

 

Do you have a favorite piece/art?

Nope, I love them all. Seriously, there are some very talented artist and writers in this thread and I salute you all!

 

What is your pet Solas theory?

I really don't have a theory as I try not to speculate overmuch. I much rather sit back and let the story reveal itself to me. That said, I suspect the romance will not involve children or a perfect happy ever after but be somewhat bittersweet. (hopefully more sweet than bitter but this is the DA team and I have yet to come across a romance in these games that didn't require some compromise)

 

Tell us about the Inquisitor you plan to romance Solas with?

I haven't decided her name but am leaning towards Tariel and she will be an archer rogue. She will be beautiful (to me) and very curious but slow to rush to judgment. She would rather observe a situation first and see if conflict can be avoided. She will be very enamored with Solas tales of the past and how things really are. She has seen enough variables in how the different clans work and how some cling to a false sense of pride that she knows her people are not infallible.

I know. It's one reason why I was sad Varric wasn't a romance option (less so when I realized that if he had been, Solas would not have) because he wasn't a typical dwarf. I also realize that it makes me nervous when they do give us a dwarf romance because the reality is that I think a I want a dwarf romance with a non-dwarfy dwarf which sort of defeats the whole purpose of a dwarf romance.

Salutations fellow Solassians.    My name is Abbi and I am currently living in WA. I have lived in a few places over the years as my father is in the Army (I am fortunate to not have moved around so much as other military brats). I am currently 20 years old and I like to art and learn. I consider myself straight though I would rank myself on the low end of the spectrum. My family has 3 cats (Ty, J.J., and Lila) and a dog (Rufus). I swear cats are my spirit animal. As for random facts...   I would say since we knew him as "McSmuggins" but it wasn't until recently that I officially became a Solassian.

  I would have to say his nose; its adorable. Also that moment in the enemies trailer where he grabs the Inquisitor's hand.

  I love the fact that he's introverted and seem to be the smart one of the bunch. And open-mindedness is something I also admire in many characters.

Her name's Nlaea, and I haven't settled on an age yet though I expect her to be younger than Solas. Her personality is kinda based on the lone rangerish character (think this gif:

). She was mostly a scout for her clan and that meant many forages by herself into human territory. That is why the Keeper chose her to go spy in Haven as she is already proficient in sneaking around humans.

 

What Warden and Hawke I plan to use?

I plan on useing warrior Feratrill Mahariel who romanced Alistair and put him on the throne, and yes she is still his mistress. She also kept the anvil of the Void intact, let Branka live, and put Harrowmont on the throne. If I had to place her on an alignment scale she would be Chaotic Good/Neutral. On the other hand we have the sarcastic/agressive warrior Arryn Hawke who romaced Anders and ultimately sided with the mages. By the end of the game, I say, she gave zero effs.

 

Don't get me started on the lack of a Varric romance.

I bet there are different ways to make your male dwarf look. After all, most of the human males we've seen are pretty generic handsome fantasy dudes, but we know it's possible to make them have narrow faces with prominent cheekbones and guyliner

Pets

All about the pets, since we have no children (yet)(by choice)(subject to change down the road, who knows). We currently have three dogs - a black lab mix, a golden lab mix, and a German Shepherd mix - and two adult cats. We also have a feral kitten who's around 10 weeks old now that we recently took in. All of our animals are rescues that either came from a shelter/pound or were literally discovered on our property/at our places of work one day and charmed their way inside the house.

 

Hobbies

Besides being an avid gamer, I love to read and to write - both fanfiction and original works. I also enjoy horseback riding, although I don't own any and depend on riding friends' horses. LOL Am also a big fan of shooting pool/billiards, bowling, fishing, NASCAR and dirt track racing, and watching/attending college (American) football games. Imagine a good ol' Southern redneck man and that's basically me. LOL I am an Eternal Tomboy, always have been and always will be.

How did you start gaming/how long have you been a gamer?

Been gaming since I was around 5 or 6 years old. My Dad saw how fascinated I was watching him play his Atari 2600, Commodore 64, and Intellivision and started teaching me how to game. This led to an entire childhood spent either playing video games with him or with guy friends from school. One of my fondest memories is when we got a Playstation and a copy of Metal Gear Solid. That was not a 2-player game, but Dad and I tag-teamed it. He would play until he got killed or stumped (while I watched), then hand me the controller. I would then play until I got killed or stumped (while he watched), and hand it back to him. We were ying and yang: if he was puzzled, I could usually solve it and if I was puzzled, he could usually solve it. We completed the whole game together that way and it was a real bonding experience.

 

How long have you been a Solassian for?

Um, no idea. A while now. Since whenever that German magazine first leaked a photo of Solas that started the entire Nicholas Cage meme.

 

What first attracted you to Solas as a character?

Has been told before, but I felt he looked a little like Nicholas Cage from that first leaked photo based on facial expression, angle, lighting, etc. One random Twitter thread comment led to an entire forum meme, much to my horror. If I had to pick just one feature, I'd say the nose. I'm a sucker for a strong, sharp, aquiline nose.

 

What aspect of Solas's character are you most looking forwards to in DA:I?

His personality! That's always the thing that truly sticks. I can't wait to exhaust his dialogue options talking to him and learning more about who he truly is inside, what he thinks of things, what he's passionate about, and why.

Don't really have one. I do kinda like the "ancient elf" theory that's been floating around, but not really putting any stock into it.

 

Tell us about the Inquisitor you plan to romance Solas with

A dual-wielding Dalish elf rogue named Athyra Levallan who is spunky and sarcastic, but also merciful and kind. She's way too curious for her own good, very open-minded, and would rather learn more about other people and cultures than fear them and stay in the usual Dalish lifestyle of isolation. She's someone who will generally get along well with most people, especially those with a good sense of humor and/or a kind heart, but will likely clash with people who are intolerant, selfish, and/or ruthless. She'll always strive for the best possible outcome in a situation, but realizes that the best ending doesn't always happen; however, the most pragmatic approach will likely be considered a last resort in most situations.

 

 

 

Also, because I'm curious: What are your "canon" Wardens and Hawkes, Solas thread? Or at least the ones you plan to use for your Solas-mancing Inquisitor!

 

And if you could have one Dragon Age creature as a pet, which would you choose and what would you name it?

 

1. Rogues Change The World will be my Keep setting for first/Solas-mancing playthrough. Female City Elf Warden dual-wielding rogue, good at heart, romanced Alistair and then gave him up for the good of Ferelden to rule with Anora, spared Loghain despite what he did to the Alienage because of the pleas of his daughter, had Loghain do the deed with Morrigan to spare all the Wardens, then went on to Awakenings to build up Vigil's Keep to defend itself and save Amaranthine. Then, sarcastic (but also good-hearted) dual-wielding rogue Hawke who romanced Anders, was always sympathetic to the mages because of her father and sister, and ended up running away to become apostate fugitives with Anders after the Chantry bombing.

 

2. Even though it's insane and they aren't tame at all, I'd totally want a High Dragon. Because I'm obsessed with dragons and they're so preeeeeeeeeeetty. I'd name her Fluffy for irony.   But if truly not an option, then I'd be boring and pick a Mabari because I do love dogs and having one THAT intelligent would be awesome. Also named Fluffy because I have zero originality with pet names. LOL

Oooh... so much new character creator stuff. I cannot wait to get my hands on it! Also, I'm loving this chance to get to know you all better. Such a diverse group of people here in this thread!

 

I am 'Fialka,' (not my real name) age 30, female and straight (but it's a bit more... erm, complicated than that? My definition of male isn't limited to the gender binary cis- type, even in terms of attraction). I have a bearded dragon and a cat. I live with my boyfriend and his daughter from a  previous marriage. I've lived in different parts of the U.S. but currently reside in New England. I played my first video game at the age of 25, but only recently started playing lots of different titles and becoming interested in game development and culture. I'm a feminist and ally. I've had some pretty crazy jobs in my life (I was even a go-go dancer at one point ) but right now I work retail as a visual and merchandising lead, and do design work freelance on the side. And on a more personal note, I have Aspergers, which basically means I have zero social graces and don't experience emotion quite the same way most people do (think Sheldon from Big Bang theory but waaayyyy less neurotic ).

Not sure... I posted in the old Solas thread not long before it switched over to this one, but was curious about him since I saw a wiki article on the DAI companions months ago - before I joined the BSN, and when there were only a handful of low-res pics of any of the characters. All that was known about him then was that he was an apostate and Fade expert. Of all the companions he stood out to me as the most interesting.

 

What first attracted you to Solas as a character?
Um... the words 'apostate' and 'Fade expert?'    I'm actually not really a fan of elves. Not that I dislike them, mind you, but other than Zevran I have't really liked any of DA's elven characters all that much. But I was curious about Solas because 'Fade expert' made me think he would be intelligent (other than Finn from Witch Hunt, who I loved, we haven't had any intellectual companions and I think we're due) and knowledgable about one of my favorite aspects of DA lore. And I always play super pro-mage characters (to the point where my canon Hawke even approved of Anders'... thing he did) so I love me a good rebel apostate character. Also, I liked that he wasn't your typical long-haired pretty boy elf type, and I liked the furry layered rags he wore in the first pic I saw of him.

 

I was surprised visiting the BSN and finding most of the comments on him to be along the lines of 'ew he's bald and creepy.' I was like, gee, that's really shallow, and took to defending him, especially since I found his face rather striking if not exactly conventionally handsome. Then his interview and profile came out, along with some more flattering screenshots, and I was in love.

 

What aspect of Solas's character are you most looking forwards to in DA:I?
His intelligence. His world view. His weird hedge magic. Learning more about the Fade and it's denizens. Learning history, elven and otherwise.

There's a lot of reallty cool ones out there, it would be hard to choose. Would it be a terrible cop-out to say my favorite image of him currently is that new art piece Bioware released? I just love his sexy mad-face

 

What's your pet Solas theory?
i have a couple: One is that he really is what he says - a wandering apostate with some scholarly pursuits. Except, in his travels he found the secret to elven immortality and now has the ability to become an elf like the ancients. This is why he wouldn't be interested in a romance with someone other than an elf who could live a reaaalllly long life by his side. The other is that he really is involved with the Big Bad. But! Maybe he was manipulated into it, or maybe he though the whole opening the Fade thing was a fantastic idea untill he saw the reality of what that meant. And he joins the Inquisition to fix his mistake. Or maybe he does join with the intention of betraying us, but, provided we follow his friendship path and do his personal quest., etc., he'll be convinced to switch sides.

She-whose-name-I-haven't-settled-on-yet will be an archer rogue with a fascination with magic. Or, more accurately, things that go 'boom' - which is why she will have the Tempest spec. She will be an outsider among her clan (thanks to a fascination with humans and other non-elves, a frustration with her fellow Dalish, and her skepticism toward Dalish religious beliefs) and, as a result, will have spent a lot of time alone in the wildrness. Which is why she comes across as this rude, aggressive, slightly naive wild-child completely lacking in tact. But, she'll have a good heart and an open mind, and will eventually come to embrace her role as Inquisitor. I hope her interactions with Solas will teach her a new appreciation for her elven heritage.

Also, because I'm curious: What are your "canon" Wardens and Hawkes, Solas thread? Or at least the ones you plan to use for your Solas-mancing Inquisitor!

 

And if you could have one Dragon Age creature as a pet, which would you choose and what would you name it?

 

 

My canon pc's are a part of a mage's that save the world dynasty and I'm going to continue the legacy with my Inquisitor. My canon Warden is Solona, human Circle mage. She hates the Circle and felt trapped growing up there. She thinks it needs to end or be reformed. She loves mischief and is sarcastic but generally gets along well with all her friends. She tries to make the best out of being a warden and dealing with the taint and in the process has a tendency to go a bit power mad, when she gets overwhelmed with responsibility. She did the dark ritual, considers Morrigan her sister, and at the end of her journey in Ferelden rode off into the sunset with Leliana her love. I have a few canon Hawke's, my main Hawke is blood mage radical that sided with the mages and romanced Anders. She abhors the injustice mages have to face and tries to help them out anyway she can. She is snarky to a fault and loves her family and friends. After dealing with finding her place in Kirkwall as an apostate, and her mother dying, her resolved strengthened and helped her become the Champion of Kirkwall. 

 

If I could have one DA creature as a pet it would be a Griffon, they are so awesome!

My name is Maranda, I'm 18 years old. Straight Asexual, my beliefs tend to lean more on agnostic,and I'm very open-minded on a lot of subjects than most people my age. I go to College part time and I work as a Cashier at a local restaurant My major is Criminal Justice. My hobbies include Gaming, Drawing(from what you guys have seen), and Writing, but it's mostly Character ideas and not actual Short-stories/Fanfic. I have two cats and I like to Cosplay!

I started gaming at a young age with my older brother and father, we often played a three-way PvP matches in COD(old school cod), Jedi Knight, Star Trek PC games. I remember staying up late at night playing old WW2 games on my dad's computer. As I grew up with the PS2 and eventually Xbox360 (and a lot more consoles inbetween) I really loved Halo, Sci-fi themed games..

So during High school, I tried Mass Effect. My first Bioware game-! Absolutely loved it, Still do.. But having played it countless times I wanted to do something new and my friend told me about Dragon Age. Thus- the reason why I'm here today.

-How long have you been a Solassian for?-

Well, to be quite honest it wasn't until I heard about the debate about his Romance. I really wish I had noticed him sooner but now there isn't anyone else I want to romance more than Solas. I always make sure to go through Solas's tag on Tumblr and keep updated on my bald elf.

- What first attracted you to the Solas character?-

After I did a bit of research to catch myself up on the concept art, the bio and extra bits of info on Solas, the one thing I found attractive in his character was that he was a self-taught Hedge Mage. The fact that we haven't really met anyone with his kind of views on the Fade, and demons, Spirits. I really just want to talk to him..

Also, the fact that I identify with being Asexual is also a part of why I'm interested in him. For me, relationships can be hard because I don't like being too 'intimate' (if you know what I mean) with a boyfriend. I just don't want to be touched like that and I don't feel that way towards other people. Of course I love them romantically, but not sexually and I feel that Solas will be more of what I want in a romance. As opposed to Iron Bull, for example.

-What aspect of Solas's character are you looking most forwards too in DA:I?-

His sense of humor, his dry stoic nature, his mannerisms and just seeing that him being secluded to himself for a long time effects the way he interacts with other people. I want him to teach my Lavellan how to close fade rifts and be her mentor.

-Do you have a favorite piece of Solas art/fanfic/Fan creation?-

Oh man, there are so many great things for Solas out there. I feel like I have already read most of what Solas x Inquisitor fanfic there is.

But there was one that was really cute about Solas had never seen a hairbrush before in his life and Lavellan showed him how to use it and he was fascinated by it.

-What's your Solas pet theory?-

I don't have a theory myself, but I like the ones about him being involved with the Big Bad in some way, but I don't know if I want that because then some people would just hate him for it. I also like the "Girl of my dream" one, it's so fairy tale I could puke rainbows.

I just hope there isn't a whole "wife and children are dead" backstory, but I really doubt it.

-Tell us about the Inquisitor you plan to romance Solas with-

Isenril Lavellan is the first of the Keeper, which meant she was always isolated. Her mother died and her father was often gone for long periods of time. Which meant the Keeper took special care of Isenril while growing up.. personality wise, Isenril tries to do the right thing. She's very emotional, and has never met a Human before the events of DA:I.

She is very knowledgeable about the old magics, but nothing compared to what Solas knows which is why they bond. Isenril is 23 years old, tan skin with freckles, black short hair and green eyes.
(All subject to change since that CC is freaking amazing)

Also have thought of this Isenril vs. Cullen thing- but that is still being thought out.
