Good morning, Solassians!

 

I had a thought last night - You know, since you can completely skip/miss companions in DA:O and 2, I wonder if it's possible in DA:I. What if Solas is an "optional" companion, like Fenris was... but then again, I just remembered the cutscene where he holds up the Inquisitor's hand up to a tear in the fade or whatever it is (THE BRIGHT GREEN THINGY) and that seems to be very plot relevant so... nevermind. But just imagine playing the whole freaking game and not meeting Solas because you forgot to do that side quest 100+ hours ago ahahahah *heavy sobbing*

the icons that change from healty to beaten up is scary...I'll try to never have low healt on my companions 

 

what is the gray on the warriors health bar? is the shield, or the armature?

IKR!? I think it must be a tanky thing. Could be like the shield bar from Mass Effect.

I really like how the icons reflect the amount of damage taken. It's a good visual cue. I mean, the health bar tells you, but seeing your companions beaten up gets you in the feels so much!

 

Poor Solas, all scratched up and bloodied with a black eye on top of that!

Oh right! I forgot that he seeks out the Inquisition himself. No way we'll miss him, then! (Not that I ever would because I'm relatively completionist with these games, which will probably be the death of me considering how enormous DAI is. Yikes).

 

I'm of a mind that our first team will be Varric, Cassandra and Solas anyways. It just seems to fit.

I usually play on Normal but from what I've been hearing from Bioware that this game is going to be challenging even on Normal.....guess I'm gonna have to play on Casual first to get used to the game then I will start playing Normal. 

 

We are probably going to see our Companions down at some point and when I see Solas down I will squeel "NOOOOOO!" and my poor Hubby will just look at me weird and tell me to quiet down lol... I can see it now.

I usually start on casual, just to get into the story and get used to the mechanics. The next playthrough gets bumped up to normal. I have gone up to hard once but nightmare was, for me, accurately labeled. I usually don't play a mage because I die much easier on it than the other classes.  I do tend to stay on normal difficulty, though and might just need the adjusting to get a solid strategy going. If I have to, though, I will stay on casual. I know some people might see me as not a real  gamer for that but...I really don't care.

 

Also, less chances of seeing my bby Solas fall in battle are always a plus.

I never go higher than normal, haha. The only time I invested the time and really studied to master game battle mechanics was for SWTOR raids with my friends (the only MMO I've ever played). In SP BioWare games I just enjoy the stories and find combat a drudgery to endure to the next plot point.

Oh wow, that's pretty cool...and kinda mean. I'm going to feel guilty for my failings now   although Cole doesn't look any different and his health is low? Are his injuries under his hat?

 

I always play on normal and then go up if there are achievements based on difficulty levels. There are for DAI so, yeah, maybe I'll get to experience a DA game on something other than normal for a change. Hmmm. Not confident of my success there. I can manage the Mass Effect games on Insanity easily enough but I find those games to be significantly easier than Dragon Age. Even more so now that DAI isn't going to let me hide in a corner until my health has regen'd. Nightmare will probably force me into being a warrior for the increased likelihood of staying alive which I wouldn't be thrilled about. I hate playing as warriors. I find them kinda boring and slow.

 

Oh and I finally pre-ordered today! Cheered me up from noticing we are almost at the original release date   *sigh* Must keep busy. It'll be November in no time... noooo time at all...

Thinking my first and possible main team will be Solas, Blackwall, and Cole. It is good to know that compaions can't easily be missed again, cough Leliana cough. I look forward to hopefully lot of adorkable Solas moments and one sided flirting.

I've played on Hard with ME and it wasn't really all that difficult but with DA it's challenging. I love not just the story to RPG's but the combat too so hopefully when I have gotten used to the combat I will go to Normal on DA:I.  

 

 

@Oswin  It's just a guess here but maybe the reason why Cole doesn't look battered is because he's not exactly human? Anyhow Congrats on Pre-ordering the game and I know how you feel I just put on our calendar a grooming appt. for our cat this month and saw the scratched with a Marker date that I had with the release that was going to be this month. 

 

November will be here before we know it.

Something that will help pass a little time that I've been meaning to post in here for a while now:

 

We're all pretty warm and fuzzy and close-knit in this thread, it's nice and has stimulated me to want to get to know my fellow Solassians even better! So, a little exercize:

Introduce and tell us a little about yourself! Name or alias, age or age-range, gender, orientation, location/timezone, pets - some examples of what you could share if you wanted. But there's no pressure to tell any or all of that - if you'd rather not mention certain things that is of course totally fine, only say what you're comfortable saying. And then here are some questions:

- What first attracted you to Solas as a character?

- What aspect of Solas's character are you most looking forwards to in DA:I?

My name is Arielle, or Aerie to some of my friends. I'm 22 years old, female, and bisexual. (I'm rather introverted, so I tend to just lurk most of the time.) I'm a full-time student(Business major.), and homemaker to my wonderful fiance and our 4 year old beagle. Our puppy's name is Ruby. She's a rescue, and we've had her since May.

 

Edit: I'm also working on writing a book. And I participate in tabletop gaming fairly regularly. Currently involved in a Hero System game set in a mash up of Dresden Files and Victorian England. I'm playing one of the rare female doctors of the time.

 

I first became interested in Solas when it came out that he was romanceable, before they started announcing romances, I didn't really know much about any of the characters. I enjoy intellectual romances, which is why I'm interested in Solas. His romance sounds very unique, and hopefully reminds me of Kulyok's Xan romance mod for Baldur's Gate.(Which remains one of my favorites to this day.)

 

Solas is pretty mysterious still. I'd love to find out his secrets in the game. I don't have a favorite fanart/work of him. They're all so good. I can't choose.

 

My favorite Solas theory is the dream one. The idea that he saw Lavellan in a dream is so romantic. It's very similar to Xan/D&D elves.(In which bonded elves share their dreams/reverie.) Which makes my little fangirl heart skip a beat.

 

My first Inquisitor, Eleri, is going to be very mischevious, and flirtatious. She will be a mage, though not sure what specialization. (Either Necromancer/Rift Mage.) She's going to drive Solas nuts.   Watch out Solas! Hurricane Eleri is coming.

 

Lavellan: "Hey, whatcha hiding? HEY!"

Solas: "I'm not hiding anything..."

Lavellan: "Sure you're not. Your pants are too tight."

Solas: "...."

 

I suspect my party will consist either of Solas, Varric/Sera, and Cole or Solas, Iron Bull and Sera.(Team Mayhem is driving the elf nuts.)

Just make sure it's reinforced and able to withstand lots of... use. >.>
