I was reading David Gaider's tumblr. Someone asked a question about Voice Actors and...

 

 

So basically, GDL is the most perfect of voices we've could have ever gotten. DG got lucky, but we also got lucky. YASSSS!

 

So clearly we now have an obligation (yes, honor bound solassians) to send Cori and David thank you flowers and chocolate!

 But speaking of romances, guys I need help.  So... my first playthrough will (hopefully, unless something changes my mind) Sera/mage!Lavellan.  For my Solas playthrough should I roll a rogue (which was my original intention) because I quite like mage/non-mage pairings and playing a rogue in this game looks amazingly fun (in particular after playing nothing but mages in DA2 due to preferring Carver over Bethany) or should I roll another mage and tap dat Solass with magic?  Patrick Weeke's tweet about Solas commenting on the Inquisitor's magic has made me really keen to have them in a mage/mage relationship.

If you have an idea of what their personalties are going to be like I would chose the one with the personality that fits with Solas best and not worry about the class. 

 

I have a rogue!Lavellan and a mage!Lavellan planned and assuming nothing changes I'll be romancing Solas with the mage as I think that their personalities would complement each other whereas with the rogue I can imagine Solas just shaking his head at her and wondering what was wrong with kids these days. 

 

Although after saying that I do prefer the idea of Solas/mage!Lavellan.

I actually follow you on tumblr, Solas! I had no idea. xD I'm not really involved with the fandom on there all that much, since there tends to be a lot of negativity and extreme views, so I much prefer to stick to this place.

Go with your gut, I say!

 

Personally, I'm rolling a rift mage since that seems to fit more with what Solas is all about and I totally headcanon him teaching Lavellan all about the fade and how to best utilize her magic since he is much more worldly, wise and experienced. And just seeing the relationship develop from there. From a story perspective, as well as romance, it makes more sense to me.

I don't really have a personality for my Inquisitors yet (aside from my mage!Adaar who is going to be quite shy and very diplomatic because I like the idea of this giant, horned, scary looking mage merc being the sweetest person around).  My canon characters tend to be quite sarcastic but good hearted, hence why Sera is my first pick for a romance.  For my Solas!romance I have no idea about her other than she'll be Dalish.

This dilemma is near and dear to my heart! I think a lesbian elf duo would be super cute, but... Solas!

As for class, I'm pretty conflicted. I love the idea of a tomboy rogue punching people in the face while her nerd boyfriend facepalms in the background (..what? It works!). A Dalish hunter is not going to understand magic or the Fade as well as a First, which could be fun 'cause Solas gets to explain all that stuff to you, and you might have fewer preconceptions about the Fade. Plus, you're not supposed to be magical but YOUR HAND IS GLOWING OMFGGG so Solas having a handle on all that is pretty sexy. Or maybe that's just me LOL.

But I also get a very Merlin and Nimue-esque vibe with mage!Lavellan/Solas. He is the (potentially) older, wiser expert and you are the eager student... mmm... (ahem. My mind is going places it shouldn't, sorry). That tweet said that he can compliment your skills as a mage, which would be lovely!

Decisions, decisions...

What sort of personality do you think Solas would mesh with? We know he's a nice, respectful dude. Would he look for the same in a lady, or could there be an "opposites attract" situation where he's into the snarky, roguish type? Food for thought.

Yes! The idea of a rash, loud, and impulsive rogue/warrior Dalish elf as her "nerd" boyfriend cringes in the background is exactly what I envisioned. You just helped me decide which class I should play through first, I'm sure the special dialogue between a mage Lavellan and Solas will be interesting, I also loved the idea of Solas educating a non-magical Inquisitor of the Fade and related topics. The idea of a younger, naive Dalish who only knows the world of her tribe, and is intellectually challenged by worldly-and-metaphysically-wise mage is also appealing.

As for personalities, opposites can attract, clash or complement. Based on what we know of Solas so far, a loud and impetuous personality will work, but they also need to be curious as to the whys and hows of the world. And maybe not too childish

Finally, I tried to look up a recipe for Scotch Bonnet candy, and it looks like Americans from the north are sol when it comes to finding the ingredients. For any of you who have tried this, what does it taste like? What does it mean for Solas's character?

I don't know, Patrick Weeks choose a rogue elf to romance him, right? Or did I just headcanon this?

I'm still very torn between a DW or a mage... we never got to play as a dalish mage and that would be so SO interesting (hfgjkazgfkf), but I enjoy rogues far too much.
I started a new playthrough of Origins and DA2, I choose a female dalish 'cause I never got till the ending with her (poor goul-Tamlen, oh the feels!), then Dragon Age 2 with a mage Hawke, but I soon realised I enjoy the game better with other classes, I don't know why... my canon was a sarcastic rogue, but I'm liking my diplomatic lady warrior so much that I think she will be the one I'll first import in the keep. She supports the mages just because she loves Bethany and Anders and wants to live in a world where her sister and lover can walk around without being taken away by templars.

Anyway, since my Warden was a rogue and my Hawke a warrior... I think I'll go with a mage. (Yeah right... I won't be sure untill I open the CC )

I think you're right! Solas probably appreciates an open-minded individual - after all, "it's more complicated than that". According to the demo, he thinks it's "interesting how widely Ferelden beliefs diverge". And he gets along with Cole, who is... complicated. So, regardless of whether Lavellan is magic or mundane, curiousity is probably gonna be the selling point for Solas. But who knows? LOL

Seriously, though. Solas and my Lavellan will get married, go on fabulous Fade vacations, and adopt Cole as their corpsey human spirit son. Trufax.

Well, I'm from the Southern US but have never had Scotch Bonnet candy... XD However, I've had Scotch bonnets before, and it really depends on if you eat them raw or cook them... they can be really spicy if you're nomming near the seeds, but that's probably not relevant for candied peppers. They have kind of a smoky flavor? So my best guess is it refers to Solas being unconventional and mysterious, with a sweet side. Hehe.
