Okay, so Solas has lived outside of civilization for... a long time. And he's neither a City elf or Dalish. Am I the only one imagining little tiny Solas discovering his mage abilities and then fleeing from his village alone into the wilderness?

Yeah, I can see Fenris sucking at sympathy being in line with his character, but I just felt like his entire romance was such a weird, disjointed heap of WTF that never really had much of an emotional payoff. It felt unfinished to me. I mean, Gideon Emery's voice can get me to forgive a multitude of sins, and the, er, composition of Fenris's pixels was certainly right up my alley, but the whole deal left me more frustrated than anything. And I couldn't get through Anders's romance. He just isn't my cup of tea. I pretty much just wanted to run off with Varric after my first playthrough, which is probably a big reason why I never made it all the way through another one.
Oh gosh, I had the exact opposite reaction. Rivalmancing Fenris with a snarky male mage Hawke was the most emotionally impactful (romantic) relationship in the series for me!
Alistair: Have you ever lost anyone close to you?
Coulsand: Well, my entire family (including my 10 year old nephew) and all our staff (most of whom I've know since I was born) were recently murdered by my dad's best friend. And Duncan took me away from my parents as they were dying.
Alistair: Oh. SO ABOUT DUNCAN (who I knew for six months...)
This cracked me up.

I love you, Alistair, but pls stahp.
I forgot that Zevran does try to comfort you, minus the specifics. He tries to cheer you up with naughty poetry and tells you that your sad expression doesn't fit such a lovely/handsome face.
