I'm not going to do any more angsty, trainwreck romances. They're emotionally exhausting and tend to inspire more anger than anything. So I'll be on the lookout for the mature, responsible types. Or at least the kind sort.

Yep. That was terrible. But I think it was worse because we know how it was Anders before. and the degradation of the character was like a punch in the gut.

And it was just like an accentuation of how little Hawke is important for her/his companions, expecialy after having played with the Warden, that in less time had friends and lover understand him/her and grow up or became worse thanks to him/her.

Really, years and years of friendship/love and nothing can make a difference?

I don't have a strong opinion on what type of romance I like in games. I like the angsty, unhealthy, emotionally co-dependent drama llama craziness and I love the stable, mutually respectful, good for each other relationships. It just depends on the character I'm playing and the story I want to tell.

Well, when multiple races were announced (actually, before then. Before they said "human only" even!) I was 100% set on a female dwarf rogue. Now it looks like she'll be taking a back seat to a female elven rogue because somebody decided to get all PERFECT on us.

I can only do them every once in a while.  IRL I have very little drama tolerance, and I'm more likely to stick my head in the sand and go "LALALALALA" than deal with that sort of thing.  It's fun occasionally in video games, but it gets emotionally exhausting for me if I do too many angsty romances.

My first play through after watching the combat vids and the cc will be a female elf mage inq. I was debating between Ironbull and Solas but think Solas is going to end up winning at this rate. I mean how can I not, his story is so fascinating and I want to be part of it lol.

 

I was a huge James Vega fan in ME3 and wanted to romance him badly [until the gawd awful vega scene in the citadel dlc *shudders*] so that was part of my love for Iron bull. But Solas has really won me over with every bit of information I read about him.

LOL same. My canon warden is a female dwarf commoner who was a duel wielding warrior. I was sooo set on playing as a dwarf when it was announced I could. Then eventually I changed my mind because I originally wanted to romance Dorian, and I will but I want to play as a female first. Then I decided I was going to romance ironbull on an elf because I was not keen doing that on a dwarf. Now I'm pretty sure it will be solas first on my elven girl.

Haha I would but I have no idea how you make one so Actually my first plan was to play as a female qunari and hopefully romance Varric, that didn´t really work out so I was hoping to romance Solas with her but that didn´t work out either so I turned my attention to Cullen but that didn´t work out either So basically I´ve been interested in characters that either aren´t LI or weren´t supposed to be LIs So now I´m saving my femqunari for later and pairing her up with Blackwall. Right now I´m having a hard time deciding on which inquisitor I´m going to play as first, I mean on the one hand it seems fitting to do a "recurring characters" playthrough where I have Varric and Cass in my party and romance Cullen, but Solas seems so awesome! Oh and the fact that I need to see the romance between a female dwarf and Iron Bull

I'm stuck waiting to chat with someone at Origin about why they don't love my money enough to let me pre-order. I'm so close to just ordering from Amazon, but they don't have the digital deluxe edition for download. My first world problems are very frustrating today.

I prefer sweet romances to the angsty train wreck ones, myself, which is why I'm much fonder of the Alistair and Zevran romances than I am of the ones in DA2 (though I appreciated that Fenris's turned out well despite all the angst, at least, as he's my canon romance...and since we'll be seeing our Hawkes, I can take some comfort in thinking that he's still with her somewhere, whereas I don't get that same warm fuzzy impression about my Warden *sniffle*).  

 

But like, Alistair's rose, and that first kiss, and the adorable fumbling through his first sexual proposition? I melt. Same with Zev's funny forwardness that slowly becomes more than just "friends with benefits."  I'm a sucker for that stuff, so it's what I hope for with the Solas and Cullen-mances I have planned. the situation we're dealing with in-game is pretty intense, so I'm hoping Solas is kind of a (to wax a bit cheesy about it) "shelter from the storm" sort of LI. A bright spot in a dark situation. Totally personal taste, though. I know lots of people who lurve them some dramatic romances...and I expect there will be PLENTY of that available in Inquisition for people who dig it. Now watch Solas be the Buckets O'Fan Tears romance. PLEASE NO.  You just know there's gonna be one.  

 

We've covered all kinds of possibilities in here, at least, so however it goes I bet we'll have talked about it as a possibility at some point. Analytical Solassians for the win!

 

I'm still getting through all the new vids, between work and company, but I love all the things. Sumalee Montano's voice is perfection, the dwarf design in the CC is awesome (I've never really wanted to play a dwarf, but NOW I do), and I feel like vats of chicken noodle soup and numerous bottles of DayQuil need to be sent to Edmonton, stat. Those poor guys. When does the game go gold? I haven't been checking the twitter thread. It was riddled with spoilers a few days ago and now I'm loathe to peek in.

 

Oh, and I'm on PS4 too! Definitely want to play some DAMP.

Thane had all the chances to be a sad, dramatic but sweet romance. Something I could have liked. But it was nearly forgotten and rushed. The depression came from how bad it was realized, not how sad it was his phate.

Jacob was only bad. I would have preferred a mail like Reegar's about a out of view death than that. It was one of the most insulting thing I had ever seen in a BioWare romance (even worse than Javik "surprise" and Vega in Citadel.  and I find those are the lowest things BioWare have ever written.). I hope we'll never see again something like Jacob. No matter how well is written (is impossibile, something like this is just bad writing per se) that will only bring rage, never feels.

 

I'm all for hard moments and difficulties, even dramatics events, if in the end there is a good and more or less happy ending. I like to see things go a little better after hard times. It can't rain forever, after all. 

That's why I must admit I liked the Fenris's romance. I liked the drama and than the reconciliation.  (three years are still a little too much time, but still...)

I personally loved the Thane romance. It moved me to tears. I wouldn't say it was bad at all but *shrugs* that's just me, I guess.

I think as a player, I'd like a sweet or at least reasonably mature and functional Solas romance for DA:I.  My first Inquisitor is probably one of the more sensible PCs I've got, so honestly if the romance winds up being more distressing than comforting to her, she'll just cut it off.  She doesn't need romance drama on top of the the huge breach in the sky.

 

I'll save the trainwreck romance for my more emotionally volatile Inquisitors.  If it's going to be horribly depressing, I might as well add some fuel to the fire

Well not everybody wants a bad ending/drama and sadness to their romance and they could have kept that from happening like give people choices that would give us a happy ending or a bad ending simple as that but no that didn't happen in ME. I don't see anything wrong with wanting a good ending to a relationship and luckily DA games have done that or have given us choices to have one which I like.  ^^

 

I just don't understand people that want to have a devastating dramatized sad romance.

I think the Jacob romance would have been awesome if it didn't take that horrid turn. He is the only romance in that game to ask your Shepard to unload on him (that's what she said). He knows she's stressed, and he wanted her to confide in him. It was sucky he wouldn't confide in her in turn, but oh well.

 

Thane just never interested me because he still seemed so in love with his wife, so I didn't want to get in the way. His story moved me to tears - in ME3, I dropped my controller, curled up in a ball and sobbed my eyes out.

I felt like the most undeserving person of that prayer, but that's who Thane was.

I intended to play a female elf on my first play through any way and when I saw Solas was only romancable by female elves it intrigued me as to why. Other than time/resource shortage.

It's been pretty good so far. I've yet to find a game that doesn't run well. The resolution is almost always 1080 (Except them gimping AC:Unity) I've yet to have a game have any major framerate dips. And while it's certainly not equal to most maxed out PC games. It still looks damn good to me.

 

So yeah, I consider it 400 bucks well spent.

 

Not to mention playstation plus is actual worth having for more than just online play.

For good reason, every one of the consoles were pretty lackluster at launch. But they've built up a pretty solid library over the year since release.
