My thought about this is:- Solas can be driven away, surely if he were an agent he would need to stay?
He could just return at the end, regardless of you sending him away.
Again, I really, really don't think he has anything to do with the Elder One.

I'm trying to be optimistic and straw clutchy here Ceol ![]()
I don't think he is either, I really just want to believe that he's a nice guy who's not really up for the end of the world..

That's true. Couldn't you send Anders away before the end of DA2? During his last personal quest. Or maybe I'm remembering wrong.

His 2nd personal quest. Where he nearly kills the mage girl.
Anyway, short of siding with the Elder One, I don't care what he does. I'll keep him with me. Whether I would continue our relationship depends on what he does.

First, hi everyone
Second, please don't be so pesimistic about Solas romance and story. I know, that in previous games female players had a lot of " sad romances", but it really doesn't mean that this time again LI for female players have to end badly. Even if Solas could be the one of possible betrayer, it doesn't mean, that he will betray his loved Inquisitor. I know, it maybe is a bad example, but
-even if Bishop from NWN , betrayed PC, he still didn't help her enemies in a final battle.
-Sky from Jade Empire had a nice talk with a Death's Hand and still he helped his Spirit Monk at the end.
-Atton Rand ( from KOTOR2), even he was under Kreia influence, still cared about Exile, and he even risked his life in a duel with Darth Sion for her (cut content unfortunetly).
The love and friendship can be powerfull things, that influence someone actions. So who know, even if Solas could be a betrayer, he still could be able to change his mind/master and stay with his lover/best friend.

Hello and welcome to the Solas Thread! ![]()
Also I agree with you sort of lol I don't think he is going to be a betrayer or a traitor at all. I think some people need to not get into that sort of idea too much I mean the game isn't even out yet. I don't think he would be a romance if he was a betrayer. *shrugs*
And even if he is one he can change his mind and not betray his lover/friend like you said...kinda like Zevran. ^^
But that's just my opinion. ![]()
Solas dose not seem like the type to be easily to deceived or mislead nor does he sneaky. Vivienne is the being descirbed as "ambtious" and she had to be social climber to get where she is now. I'm curious to see how he interacts with friends compared to his li. Think we will end up swooning regardless. Solas explaining his and pc attraction to each other to Cole should be hilarious.
There is one thing that bothers me. Every other companion or adviser represents or has had connections to a faction, and generally seem to bring that to the table for the Inquisition - IB-Qunari/mercenaries; Cassandra-Seekers; Cullen-Templars; Leliana-Chantry; etc. Even Cole could be said to represent the Fade/spirits/demons. But not Solas. We know he isn't Dalish, and he doesn't seem to have been involved directly with city elves since he was a child (if anyone represents them, Sera does). So, who does he represent?

He's the unknown. Think about it: a mage with no formal training who knows a great deal of magic, an Elf with no real ties to either the Dalish or city Elves but familiar with both. The Fade is not well understood even by mages, and he's an expert on it due to his unusual approach. He's the crossroads of everything.
In a way he's a perfect counterpart to the Inquisitor who has mysterious powers that nobody really understands and who will be instrumental in the fate of the world.

^Hey, there are a LOT of Tarot card motifs in this game! Solas could totally be Dr. Facilier.
Does.. does that make us Naveen? Or Tiana?
As long as we're not Ray...

Oh, I know, but I'm just pointing out that everyone else is a contact with a faction for the Inquisition, even the Inquisitor. Which makes Solas's role even more interesting, more of an outsider than even Cole at the very least (just finished talking to Soris in DAO and had to make sure I didn't transpose the names
).

Which raises the question: if he were working with someone else, who?
All these Disney comparisons. Next thing you know we're gonna have Solas looming over the Inquisitor, going, "I...KILLED...MUFASA!!"
I'm kind of curious how Solas finds us. Is he nearby when the explosion happens, or does he sense a disturbance in theForceFade?
The Inquisition starts off in the village of Haven. I'm sure word will get around fast of the lone survivor with a weird glowing hand.

Huh, that's true. I guess Solas must not be totally isolated, if he's hearing rumors from Dalish clans or random villages... I can't wait to find out. Why isn't it November yet?!
Because it's still October. *runs away*
