I would think that if there were drawbacks (which I'm pretty sure there will be), Solas will be there to help us. And if we're romancing him....
I'd say he would have an increase in motivation so that we don't die.
New trailer tomorrow yay! I have a feeling that Solas might be featured in it, as in cinematic parts
Considering how early we get him, you'd think he'd actually say something in one of these trailers. I wouldn't be too surprised if he narrated something even, since he seems to be the one who gives us the run down on the Fade mark and what it can do. Though I'm not really expecting it too much. ![]()

Haha yeah, I´m expecting Solas,Blackwall and Josie to maybe say something, I think Solas is a safe bet though
Ugh with my luck they´ll probably post the trailer when I´m at school ![]()
I know this is kind of off topic but did you guys notice Varric's nickname for Josephine?
OMG, I am so dense. I didn't notice that was his nickname for Josie--I thought it was for the Inquisitor, and I was trying to work out how that made any sense!
*hides in shame*
I think Solas will be a great company member. He looks experience and the whole fade knowledge maybe will solve some of our questions how this plane works. He is also a free practitioner so his ideas wont be filtered by the chantry/ circle ideas and belief system.
While watching the video over and over again like someone trapped by the Hypnotoad, I realize from the way Cass is talking that Solas might already be part of the Inquisition. Unless we stumble into him in the prologue its possible hes already joined the Inquisition. If not then we somehow have to meet Solas during the prologue since Cass already refers to him when you meet your advisers.

He likes to hang out in ancient ruins, right? It could be that he happened to be in or around the ruined temple, doin' his Solas thing, when the peace summit arrived. Maybe he stuck around to see what was up, then when everything went pear-shaped he offered his services to the Inquisition.
Solas: ...and then you can close the Breach.
Inquisitor: Is that a little doodle of me exploding in the corner? Am I going to explode?
Solas: Maybe?
Solas: I can't be sure what will happen but we must try anyway..............BECAUSE SCIENCE must be preformed.
*Solas the hermit mad scientist.....mage*
I keep wondering if Solas will have any Gannayev or Justice moments. Like if he's in your party during a Fade sequence, he'll stick with you and help you out while everybody else is MIA.
I'm afraid while everybody is scared out their wits in the fade Solas will be acting like a kid at Disney World.
I'm sure Solas will help us out when we are in the fade and I will make sure he the fade expert will be with my inquisitor when we go there.
Oh my gosh! his voice is so eeee
I have no words for his voice other then that it's incredibly sexy ![]()

So, Sols is definitely the one who teaches us to use our powers, as most had already figured out. He's also our first mage. (Which pleases me to no end.)
Apparently our overall goal is to supercharge our magic hand. Which makes me think Solas may end up being very plot relevant.
Also, I find the chantry breaking away from the inquisition to be strange. I assumed this whole organization was the Divines idea. I assume part of the plot will involve winning the chantry over. Or hopefully a different faction as I know a lot of people really don't like the chantry.
Also...anyone else scared that Gaider's tweet about sad romance's was referring to Solas ? If it is I think I'd rather he died than have him betray us...though I'd prefer neither.

I really hope is not Solas's case.
I loved how Zev could betray the Warden if he wasn't a friend, since it made sense and it was possibile to avoid, making it a consequence of choices and reaction of the companions towards the PC.
If it work like this a possibile betray, I'm more than fine. Is a reward or a consequence of choices. As long as is not like Anders.
I hated Anders and Alistair.
Alistair who go out of character if he became King, as if the crown just make him crazy. Really, my love here, my love there, but put a crown on his head, and you are not good enought suddently. is a part of the character I hated, and the motive I never, NEVER make him king if I have a romance with him
While I can understand that he leave if Loghain is spared, I can't stand the dumping if he is king. (yes, I know a human noble can marry him. But what of all the non human noble females? becaming a mistress, the dirty little secret of the king is quite insulting. Expecially for a City Elf or a castless dwarf. Is as if she just became what she has fought to not became. a ******. only a royal one, thisi time.)
Anders was worse than Alistair however. At least with Alistair there are choice that can help not meet such things, but Anders was totally inevitable, Just like mostly of the events in DA2. It was horrible. i can't even say more, I'm still raging about that game. No matter what you did, nothing ever change. Is always useless. What you build up, be it friendship or love, is useless. Is the motve I now prefer Fenris to Anders as romance. Even if I loved Anders in DAA.
So, if the betray/sad thing is evitable, and tied to choices, I'm more than fine with it. NO if it happen no matter what. ![]()
On a happier note I hope Solas gets to meet and hopefully mentor Sandel. The conversations they could have would be endless. The person from what we know that makes the most sense to betray us seem like Vivienne because shes so ambitious or Cole. In the case of Cole I would assume it wouldst be of his own free will. Were it to be the case with Solas I would think it might be due to something influencing him. Anyone wanna talk about something happier?

Unless Solas is the Elder One or directly related to him. Having him betray us no matter what we'll ****** me off, yes.
I think you're being a little unfair with the Alistair thing though, if you make him king. He just doesn't have a choice, he cannot have a Elf queen, or a Dwarf queen. It just will not be allowed, king or not.
So yeah, not really his fault there.

I'm really looking forward to Solas and Cole's relationship, I think it could be really sweet and interesting since they get along so well.
