All of this Solas and DA: Inquisition stalking is preventing me from focusing on my grad school work; I keep hoping that at any moment, some new piece of information will pop up. (Even though I know deep down the devs won't post anything new and want to kill us slowly) Oh, the torturous road to November continues.

Alright... so I FINALLY got to watch the new trailer again in its entirety, without being interrupted by the boyfriend and the child  

 

Aah, so much Solas, I love it! So I'm guessing his 'new' younger, more angular face is the final design (or the way it'll finally appear in game with all the fixed shaders and such). I very much approve. And such a beautiful voice. I hear there was some doubt that it was him narrating the end - I would definitely say it's him. You can hear a touch of his accent if you listen closely. And I absolutely do not think that was him getting eaten by a dragon. That was someone wearing Warden armor among a bunch of other people wearing Warden armor. And even if it was him getting picked up, it hardy means he's dead. I mean this guy is nails, remember. Eats demons for breakfast. Or you know, could, if he wanted to   No dragon will take down my baby! *Ahem...*

 

So what kind of hero will I be? Mura Levallan will be rogue huntress type who spends most of her time away from the clan because she doesn't get along too well with them (that line in the letter - if she's committed a crime we just want to know about it, will actually be really appropriate!), for she believes their isolationism and stubborn refusal to move on from the past are their greatest weakness. So, she wil be socially inept, rude, a bit naive, and as awkward and inappropriate as I can make her She will also be super curious about humans and other non-Dalish people and the world outside of the one she's known. While her role will at first scare her she will, as she grows and matures, embrace it as a way to find her place in the world. I think Solas will serve as a wonderful guide for her through it all, and will eventually help her appreciate the culture and the history of her people - especially if his romance does in fact make her elven-ness really important.

@Oswin  Don't worry about losing Solas. This isn't ME, DA games have given us choices in all their games so I'm sure there will be ways to keep Solas and the rest of the companions alive.

I wish I had your talent, I hadn't really posted before a week or two ago. But I always came in to at least look at your art, it's lovely.

I know that feel. I have a class to be at in an hour and a final to finish but it feels like every time I have a test to take or a place to be, there's some out of blue announcement or a twitch stream. Urgh. I didn't get to see the advisors one for many days and the link was just staring at me...taunting me.

 

So, anyway, I though since it is only a little over a month until the game is released, that we could play a game. I'll put down some questions and we'll put our guesses down and see who gets the most right by the time the game is finished. Even if we get them wrong, it would be fun to look back and see how close or far we all where and laugh about it.

 

When will we first see Solas, in game?

 

When will he join the Inquisition?

 

How will the "Hand scene" take place?

 

What place in Skyhold will he usually be found at?

 

Which companions/advisors will he get along with?

 

Which companions/advisors will he not get along with?

 

If it is mentioned, why does Solas have a bald head?

 

What kind of lover is Solas? Naughty? Bashful? Sickeningly Sweet?

 

Why does it make "super story sense" that  a Solas romance is only available to elven women?

 

What choices will he approve/dissaprove of?

 

What will happen if his dissaproval drops too low?

Oh good idea! Hm I think that we might find him while investigating the rift or at least somewhere in the vicinity of the rift and that the hand scene is him showing you how to close it, maybe there´s a dialogue choice which allows you to refuse attempting to close it and that´s when he grabs your hand?

When will we first see Solas, in game? / When will he join the Inquisition? /How will the "Hand scene" take place?

   Based on my powers of deduction, I definitely think he's going to show up during the prologue.  Also, when you watch him in the trailer and the hand-holding scene, he's clad in his backpack and no sight of a weapon.  I think he joins the inquisition during the prologue (in interviews, it has been said that he seeks us out), and I would love it if the inquisitor, Cass, and Varric are all dumbfounded and he just walks up, grabs your hand, and bam. 

 

What place in Skyhold will he usually be found at?

  Seeing as Solas is the Hermit (in terms of tarot cards), I'm thinking he will be somewhere off on his own. I'm not sure if there will be a chance for the Veil to be thin somewhere within Skyhold, but I'm thinking an emptied tower of some sort. Or, if Skyhold has access to a courtyard, maybe outside in nature? But then again, Skyhold is fortress, not sure if a courtyard is the area's style. 

 

Which companions/advisors will he get along with? / Which companions/advisors will he not get along with?

   Once again, based on previous interviews, I think he's going to get along with Cole, Blackwall, and maybe Sera. Vivienne, Iron Bull, and Dorian may clash. Cullen probably will not be a fan if Solas is willing to jump into the Fade. 

 

If it is mentioned, why does Solas have a bald head?

  A theory that has been going around (that I think would be amazing) is that he's one of the ancient, undying elves awakened by the breach.  The writers have said his race-gate is for a reason, this could be why? 

 

What kind of lover is Solas? Naughty? Bashful? Sickeningly Sweet?

  Being that he's a hermit, I feel like he may be a mix of bashful and sweet.  I don't really see him as the forceful type, seeing as he prefers to be on his own.  I see him more hesitant in general about opening up to someone. 

 

Why does it make "super story sense" that  a Solas romance is only available to elven women?

  If he is an ancient elf, it may fall with in-toe with this.  Then again, it has also been said that he hates being seen as "just an elf", so, I guess we'll find out.

 

What choices will he approve/dissaprove of?

  I think any chance you have to investigate the Fade, or not necessarily denounce a demon may increase approval - just being open-minded to the Fade and not fearing what Solas preaches.  Or, since he seems to have a role in helping the inquisition, taking his aid seriously could help. 

 

As for dissaproval, probably anything having to do with siding with the circle, making a mage tranquil, helping templars, denouncing elves / the Fade, being evil / closed minded.

(very cliche guesses, I know)

 

What will happen if his dissaproval drops too low?

I'm not sure if Solas is the leaving type, but I don't put it past any member to just say, " F this" and take off.

 

Who will have the most memorable banter with Solas?

Although Cole and Solas will probably get along well, I think Solas & Blackwall and Solas & Varric banters will be interesting. 

 

What do you think will be the impression of Solas to game players after release?

  I'm hoping people enjoy his character; although we do not know so much about him, he almost seems like the Obi-Wan Kenobi of the inquisition. Or at least, that's what I'm hoping for.

Possibly more proof? Lady Ashe Insanity always creates breakdowns and provides information for all things dragon age, including the trailers.  Although she warns that her breakdowns are speculation, she too believes that it is a Warden being eaten and not our Solas

Okay. Here are my answers. 

 

1. When will we first see Solas in game? It looks like right at the beginning maybe after you get found after the explosion.

 

2. When will he join the Inquisition? I think once he meets us he's pretty much going to tell us he's staying to help out.

 

3. How will the "Hand scene" tale place? Once you are better from the explosion I think we will be taking a trip to the place where it happened and your hand will start glowing and that's when it will happen. 

 

4.What place in Skyhold will he usually be found at?  I'll guess either the Library or the Garden or just someplace outside lol. 

 

5. Which Companions/Advisors will he get along with? Companions I think he will get along with is Varric,Cole,Cassandra,BW. Advisors I'm guessing Josephine but not sure about Leliana.

 

6. Which Companions/Advisors will he not get along with? I'm guessing Vivienne, maybe Dorian not sure, Sera and IB. Advisors...well we all know how Cullen is around mages. :/

 

7. If it is mentioned why does Solas have a bald head? I think there's going to be no answer to this. I saw he was going to have hair in the concept art but they changed their mind I think cause it didn't look right on him. So I won't be surprised if there is no answer to this in the game. 

 

8.What kind of Lover is Solas? Naugty? Bashful? Sickingly sweet?    ...lol I don't know, I think it might be sweet.

 

9. Why does it make "Super story sense" that a Solas romance is only available to elven women? I think there is going to be an ending where Solas will be super important to the dalish  I like Sables idea better. Maybe because it will end up better with a female elven kinda like it ends up good with Alistair and a human female. Maybe it will be both because it would be better for a female elf and he has knowledge of the dalish.  ^^

We'll just have to wait and see. 

 

10.What choices will he approve/ disapprove of? He will approve of helping mages,saving lives but disapprove of helping the templars and killing innocent people.

 

11. What will happen if his disapproval drops to low? Then I'm pretty much screwed! ...hehe no I think he will leave if he doesn't approve of what we are doing.

 

12. Who will have the most memorable banter with Solas? I think Cole and Varric and maybe BW will have Great banter.

 

13.  What do you think will be the impression of Solas to game players after release? I think it will be good and memorable , I remember someone saying something along those lines months ago...I could be wrong and that's just a guess. I hope that some people that are on the fence about him will come to like him.

Maybe Solas's romance is race-gated because it would only end well with an elven PC.  Alistair's romance could end disastrously for anyone who pursued him, but was more likely to end badly if you were not a human noble.  Maybe Solas's story arc works out in such a way (say, Eluvian travel or whatever) that only an elven protagonist would actually be able to stay with him.  At that point, since animations are already going to be a problem, why not gate it to the only combination that can end happily?

I expect Solas will be patient and helpful. Although I would love a bit of impatient Solas:

I'm hoping Cole with have the best banter with Solas as I'm determined to run with them together. I want all the geeky Fade and spirit talk. I hate going into the Fade but I love learning about the lore and all types of spirits. Varric always has good banter with people so I look forward to hearing more of that when I run with him at the start.

 

I can't think who he won't get along with yet, because I don't know enough about where his allegiances lie. I'm going to say Cullen, because Cullen never seems to like anyone   i'm kidding, don't hurt me Cullen fans.

You are probably right on that...mine was just a stupid guess I wasn't exactly thinking on it too much I know he'll romance you because he loves your Inquisitor but that idea I wrote kinda popped into my head....very stupid idea...

I know the armor is different, but is it possible our dragon victim is the same character as whoever is in the Enemy of Thedas trailer around 1:07? Possibly the same hair, also a mage. Unless it's already been decided that the EoT mage is someone specific?

No, no, it wasn't stupid at all!  After all, Solas can lucid dream the past--what's to say he can't bring that knowledge back to the Dalish?

 It might be just a little bit of both he has knowledge of the dalish and he's just attracted to elven women.
