I am curious as to what your reactions would be if Solas did in fact want biological children from a romanced inquisitor.

I'm just gonna quote myself, LOL.

While I honestly think his race gating has to do with A- limited resources on the part of the devs and B- something to do with elves/the Fade/the Eluvians etc. I'm beginning to think I'm the only person on the forum who wouldn't mind if it WAS about babies.

I mean, just like in real life there are folks who are adamant about not wanting kids, there are also people who long to be fathers and mothers... again, I don't actually think this is why he's gated. But if it was, it wouldn't bother me. Some people like kids. *shrugs*

In real life, if you're dating someone and it gets pretty serious and you start talking about whether or not you want to have children... the answer to that question can be a total dealbreaker! So, if your Lavellan absolutely does not want to be a mother EVER, and Solas definitely wants to be a dad, then I figure it's the same as in RL... sometimes you and the one you love can't reconcile your plans for the future, and it's off.

To me, it's in the same vein as Isabela. I mean, I would never ever pair her up with a Hawke that wants kids LOL, because that wouldn't be fair to either character.

This is what I was thinking, if having a family is important to Solas, and your inquisitor doesn't want to have kids...that makes you very incompatible. And changing yourself to suit your lover is going to make things worse in the long run.

 

Point being, if Solas wants kids and you don't then it's best to break up while you can still be friends.

Like what will it do to you overtime the longer you have it? And if an Inquisitor wants to have kids, would the kids end up with some part of the fade in their biology as well. Would an Inquisitor and Solas make super elven fade powered babies is what I'm asking I guess lol

Or it may work like with the Wardens? Gray Wardens's childen aren't effected by the taint (see The Calling) even if aren't very common, since Wardens have less chance to procreate, and two Wardens can't have children.

Morrigan's baby had the taint because there was the Ritual (in fact if the ritual is not performed, a Warden who slept with Morrigan still have a normal child).

Well I don't plan romance with anyone with my Dalish Elf, but here are my two cents. It all depends on situation. If Solas would be interested in elven female ONLY becouse she is a perfect "womb" for his genes, then well...it's not deal ( I had this situation in IWD2 NPC Project with elf named Diriel. He trick my elven female to slept with him next to Kuldahar, and become pregnat, becouse it was perfect place to create his super heir) . From other hand, if Solas and elven female really love each other, for me it's natural, that they could start to think about family. Maybe not before end of game events, but later, when things will calm down, it could happen

I don't think Solas is like Diriel (and I enjoyed Diriel too, he even got his kid in the epiloque) Honestly I think, it's not something awful in his race gated romance. I have a few theories about this. One, that it's just his sexual preference. Second, he is ancient elven heir, and he don't want to have this kind of relationship with any other races. The third is the worst...we will get again LI whom girlfriend/wife/kid/whatever was killed/kidnaped/etc by Human/Quanari/Dwarf ( and I really have enough of this kind of companion's story especially potential LIs)

I am pretty excited and nervous for monday. Excited for twitch livestream with skyhold and maybe companions? ( hoping to see more of Solas) and nervous because I am taking to veterinarian my new adopted street, tuxedo cat named Sola. I hope everything goes well.

She is not so young kitty but she has such surprisingly beautiful personality no matters what life throwed bad at her. I am really surprised how well and fast she accepted my 2 yr old yorkie and greatly respects my 5 years old cat. She radiates with wisdom. I think name fits her and may she carries it with pride into new, better life ...
