Agreed. I think most people judge him by first impression (Nosferatu hurr hurr) but I think that will turn around once people get to know him. Hopefully. I dig his mystique and I'm grateful to have him as a romance, even if hardly anyone else is!

 

Edit: I even read on another forum someone saying they wouldn't take Varric in their party because of his backflips. People can be silly.

Posers, I've been liking unpopular characters before it was cool

 

That said, I'm quite used to being a fan of less popular characters in games, I fondly remember the time I almost started a riot in a Shadow Hearts fan group years ago when I mentioned that I quite liked Johnny Garland.

 

I agree with you that he most probably will be the least played because of the restrictions based around him, with the wider range of races to choose from in this game it also means that people may be less inclined to roll an elf.

I think Solas sounds absolutely fascinating and I´ve actually always found him attractive He sounds really interesting though so I don´t really care if we´re the hipsters, I mean I´m one of the few who prefers Zevran over Alistair so I tend to go for this sort of thing But yeah he seems to be "nails" like Gareth said

Even though Solas may not be a favourite to some, I have a feeling that the more you get to know him, the more he'll grow on you.

Briefly materializing from my semi-blackout (I can't resist all the videos)...

 

 

Probably! Hopefully? Well, we've got less than a month left, regardless. I liked this, though. I found the narration a little weird (sort of like listening to a bland travelogue about some random destination on TV), but the content was good. I laughed at the dialogue. My only problem is that I like ALL of the companions so much that I'm going to wind up with about a billion playthroughs. I mean, if I ever get out of the CC. This is currently uncertain.  I know I'm going to love Dorian. To me, he'll always be the Tevinter Freddie Mercury. That leather outfit from yesterday's video was perfect. And I know someone mentioned it, but...I could do without the Inquisitor's beige casual wear. It's so...BEIGE. Maybe Dorian will let me borrow his clothes. Also, a pox on anyone who's mean to Cole. Poor baby.  

 

I'm glad we've seen so much of Solas recently even though he's usually getting his firm elven backside handed to him. Where's Blackwall, though? Dude must be a walking spoiler. Really would like to see/hear more of him! In this last twitch stream I thought Cameron looked like he was about five seconds away from curling up in a ball and falling asleep (though he was alert enough to murder wildlife, of course). I hope they all get some rest soon. Coffee only works for so long.

 

So Solas gets what looks to be quite a private room with a nice big desk. Hmm.

I am abit of late, but have my sympathy and condolences aswell. I know how it really really feels and it really breaks my heart even if I don't know you. My Sola sends you lot of hugs.

 

Guys, the drum beat from yesterday's Skyhold video actually ISN'T the ambient music for Skyhold.

 

They just piped it in because they thought it was cool for the stream.

Dunno what's been going on lately, but yeah, trying to post or "like" usually leads to an endless load page, so I just move on and assume it posted. It usually has.

 

When I get endless load page just click refresh and you will see that you liked. Same with posting, if it takes alot of time I just open new tab with Solas thread and I see that my post is already posted while in another tab is still loading lol... I discovered that short posts gets liked and posted faster without endless loading than longer ones.

I wonder how he talks about the Fade to a dwarven Inquisitor.  With the other races, he's working against preconceived notions of the Fade and magic; even if the Dalish beliefs are more in line with his, we've yet to see a Dalish mage who can do what he can.  But a dwarf has no connection to the Fade at all.  It's just not a thing that even matters to the dwarven quizzy until the peace conference goes pear-shaped.  

 

Also, I want to see Solas nerding out with Dagna.  They should be besties.

Do you have a song you've heard that makes you think of Solas and your Lavellan? Could be what you consider "their song" or just one that makes you think of Solas or your Inquisitor in general.

 

I can't really explain fully why, but "Stolen Dance" by Milky Chance makes me think it's "their" song for Solas and my Lavellan. I think largely because it's a very mellow song with the singer being mostly calm/smooth during it, which reminds me of how Solas has largely sounded so far in the snippets we've gotten. But also sings of a love that's a bit separated/complicated in that it's shown in stolen moments and stolen dances... I could see that with the Inquisitor being such a central leader figure that any relationship is likely to be pretty hard and free-time even harder to come by, that the "stolen" little moments will be the ones that mean the most.

The song that really makes me think of Solas and my Lavellan is Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me by Fantomas. I love this song, It's not the happiest song but it's so intense and beautiful, kinda like how I imagine my Lavellan's romance with Solas will be.

It does seem like Solas won't get the same cult following some of the other followers. But that won't stop from loving him and his fadeness. Yeah I think Solas will be a really interesting character. I think once they hear him open his mouth some more they will like him as much as we do. At least find him interesting. I like him because of his intelligence, his interest to the fade, and his open mindedness. I am really interested in seeing more from him and I hope they show a character video with him. I think he needs a bit of attention because ppl aren't initially drawn to him. His strength is when he speaks so please let the man speak lol.

omg I was thinking about the same thing for awhile! But I thought it might be too early to ask such a question because well we haven't seen or heard much out of him yet. But even still I have been thinking of songs that can connect back to solas and my fem inquisitor lol. I love everyone's songs by the way! They all work well with Solas, and I like to hear everyone's different take on his romance through there song choices.

 

Hmm for my song I have been playing around with a few. But this is the one I keep coming back to because of the comparison I made earlier in this thread that I thought Solas was like Garrett from "Quest for Camelot".

 

For those that haven't seen why I compared Garrett to Solas here is the video.

 

 

After he lost his eye sight he opts to live alone in the forest out of choice. Garrett takes great stride in it and has learned to make best of the situation by mastering it. He becomes a mentor figure to the girl Kayley in the movie because she needs his help to save Camelot and they eventually see that they need each other to bring out the best in both of them.

 

This is the song in the movie that I think is one of many that can describe the inq and Solas's relationship. It is corny be warned, but I love it. This movie is a guilty pleasure of mine from childhood and I think it suits them lol.

 

 

The song is mushy but I couldn't stop grinning this will basically be my inq and Solas I think. Even the intro of the song sounds like something that would happen between the two lol.

I haven't necessarily picked a song for the romance but "Wild Wind" by Walkin' Jim Stolz is the song that defines my Inquisitor.  I would link to the song but it doesn't exist on Youtube and Walkin' Jim is dead.  His website still contains the lyrics and he has a number of other great songs that are on Youtube.

First, Im very sorry Shimmering Nug, Im sorry about your's cat, I know how hard is to lost animal friend.

 

About Solas popularity. He is definetly interesting character, but BioWare keeping him hidden for unknow reasons. I watched Skyhold stream, and Devs didn't want to visit Solas place in the hold. We never saw him close in any trailer/youtube vid/ or anywhere, we havn't  any "chess game" with him etc. There were not any cool things with Solas, I only remember, that he died a lot in vids, and make silly damages to the great bear. So how he can be popular? Anyway I think, it will change, when game will coming, and we will have a chance to meet him personaly. I doubt also, that race gated romance will make a lot of difference. Why is that? Becouse as a player who will avoid romance this time, Im still interesting in companions, so if only Solas will be interesting, complex character, with a great personality, and a good friend of my Celebrian, lack of romance plot isn't so important. He will be in my team in every playthrought  . The only thing Im affraid about, is the common BioWare's habit, to make really weak friendship arc with potential LI. In many games LIs have nothing to say after certain points to player who don't romance them, so I can't to know them better etc.

 

About romance song for Solas and PC, I thing this one could be a good choice if only I would choose romance relationship for my elven necro

i'm looking forward to meeting all the characters. some of them have grabbed me more than others (obviously Solas has grabbed my interest), and i'm really looking forward to seeing how they all interact with each other and with my Inquisitors.

I think Solas is going to be the Mordin of Dragon Age.  After all originally he wasn't even meant to be a romance and that only came about because of the extra development time.   Mordin was the eccentric brains of Mass Effect and I would say extremely popular considering he was a non romance character.    I always remember how hilarious it was when he asked if Shepard fancied him because they kept coming around to talk so much.  The only bit I wouldn't want Solas to replicate is the noble sacrifice, since that was bad enough when I wasn't in a romance with the character.    I don't mind they have been sparse on the information since that points to him being very important in game and so they need to avoid spoilers.    My only misgivings were centred around having such huge expectations (rather as I did for Anders after Awakening) and being disappointed.   However, from everything his VA has said, I don't think that is going to be the case.    Only one month to go to find out.

In answer to the question, I have a couple, but I think this song suits my idea of a Solas/Lavellan romance, and Solas in general, best. It's a bit older now, but the lyrics are perfect (and it's very pretty).
