Wow. So Solas is an introvert ? What type of introvert is he ? INTP ? INFJ ? Either way, pretty sure I will get along with him just fine since I am an INTJ myself.

Most people seem to think INTP but other suggestions have been made and are just as valid possibilities, we haven't had a chance yet to spend hours talking to him trying to figure out what makes him tick.

Exactly.      I'm introverted as all get out, but that just means I need alone time, not that I want nothing to do with people or romance.  (Those little tests always put me as INFJ...  I actually don't recall what that means exactly, but there it is.     )

Introverted - Intuitive (the "n" comes from the second letter) - Feeling - Judging. As opposed to Extroverted, Sensing, Thinking, Perceiving. It's more complicated than that but for more details on each tho you'd have to Google or we risk a derail!

I am usually in the Cullen fan thread but I thought I would check out what is going on in here. I have recently developed a liking for Solas' character and I really want to discuss him with some like-minded people!

 

Whether he is available as a LI or not, I so look forward to having him as the main mage in my party and talking to him. I also can't wait to see his interactions with the other companions. Personally, I really like his look and feel that he looks more realistic rather than "pretty boy" which is a point in his favor in my opinion. 

 

If both he and Cullen are LI for female Inquisitors then I will be a happy clam indeed.

Hey! *waves back* Yeah, I've been slowly growing in my fondness for Solas. The fact that Patrick Weekes is writing him only adds to my interest and anticipation. I also like having a level headed character in my group. Cass and Solas together are going to make traveling very interesting.

Yes! Mr. Weekes seems to have been very busy since joining the Dragon Age team!

 

I am definitely curious about Solas now that we know a little more about the poor thing, and a boy with "It's more complicated that that...!" as his battle cry? Sounds like my type of character!

In my opinion (and this is more an observation than a criticism - everyone is free to interpret/portray a character as they wish!) a lot of the banters on this thread seem to emphasize his childishness more than the book does.  There he definitely has a darker side, which I think is what makes him so compelling.  I suspect he's matured a bit since the events of the novel as well, but we shall see!

 

But yes, I recommend anyone who loves the characters/likes to dissect them and the stories they are a part of read at least Asunder.  It's a fun read.  I've been slowly reading the Masked Empire as well, though I'm not far enough into it to tell you if it's good or not (it's a bit slow to start, IMO).

you know? now I have little doubt Solas will be one of my favourite character of DAI. It almost doesn't matter if he is a LI or not (but if he is... ) I will love him. I have a soft spot for intelligent geek characters. Sand, Mordin, Finn...all companions I loved.

HALLELUJAH I've got my likes back! Welcome to the club new Solassians, I'm on cloud nine still because of all the exciting stuff that happened yesterday, he's everything what I wanted him to be, although hearing that Allen Leech isnt his voice actor makes me a sad panda, but it's IMDB so I was pretty suspicious about that in the first place. Do you think if I went on good luck charm hunt and threw them at the Bioware devs they'd make Solas a LI?

While I absolutely love his revealed personality and info (finally!) I'm still trying to adjust to his new look; I was so used to the his cute face with the scar and the cleft chin and the grey-blue/violet eyes!

 

It's just going to take a while for me to readjust, but tbh I think he looks a little different in every picture we've seen of him, which I am also sure probably has to do with his facial expressions (the cute scrunched up face thingy he does ), which direction he is facing, and the lighting.

 

I do really miss the scar and the chin though...I wonder if maybe Solas gets the scar during the game. I would really love it if our companions changed subtly over the course of the game, like getting a scar, or a haircut or something, that would be sweet.

I fall into the category of "zero interest before the new info" boat. Back when we had nothing to go on but appearances, his looks didn't particularly raise my interest in him. I didn't think he was unappealing but it was hard to imagine anything with his simple design.

 

Now with this new info, I'm genuinely intrigued by his character! I've always connected best with characters who were intelligent and knowledgeable, more so if they were introverted. I was a very big Thane fan before I got into the DA series and Solas seems to strike some similarities with him, in that he prefers for his actions to speak for themselves. 

 

 

 

When I saw the first pictures in the interview, something about him seemed familiar, and then I realized what it was - his features remind me of Thane, mostly in that second picture. Not exactly like him, per se, just reminds me of him.. maybe it was the expression, I don't know. 

 

He sounds like a wonderful character, now that Mr. Weekes has fleshed him out a bit, and I can't wait to meet him! 

 

I also feel the need to re-read Asunder to re-remember how Cole was then. My daughter was disappointed that he isn't a romance option (she's 14, and her first reaction to reading about him and seeing him was: "Aw! He's MINE!"), but quickly got over it to inform me he was still "hers"!   Immediate BFF, apparently, and I might actually get her to read Asunder now that she knows he's in it. All of the characters seem very interesting, and each reveal makes my patience for the game grow that much shorter.

It seems Patrick has been the most open when it came to answering people's questions as well as giving more character information through tweets. I don't think he mentioned the whole Dalish and the type of elf thing until somebody asked him. Most likely though he is probably not allowed to say anything about Solas before he was revealed though you never know the devs can be very sneaky

I believe Solas has plenty to offer as a companion. With all the Veil-Ripped-Open-Problem going on, his expertise could be very useful. Moreover I hope we can also learn more about the Fade as he did, putting aside some preconceptions and exploring it in a new light... As Patrick said, maybe he will make us "reexamine [our] own assumptions and look at that world in a new way." and hopefully shed some light about Cole too.

 

I don't know if I'll romance him yet but the idea of breaking through that "introvert" wall is fascinating.

Re: introversion: It is actually quite refreshing to see an introvert portrayed in a (from what we know so far) healthy way in a major video game franchise! speaking as an introvet.

 

Re: that comic: omg vivienne x') Since we can interject in the banter in this game, I hope when people are mocking Solas's clothes we can interject in his defense.

At first, I was determined to romance Blackwall, if he's a LI, thanks to Aimo's comics; now I feel like all the others outshine him since we only know he's a GW...

I do get a Thanevibe as well. Thane is my all time favorite. However, I do feel like his looks is getting worse and worse. But I will probably fall in love with his personality anyways. I just have to adjust to his look.

 

Which other character did Patrick write before? And who is Gaider writing?
