I don't mind the shorter hairstyles, though something like a longer braid down the back would have been nice. At least for my elf she won't be wanting a lot of hair getting in her way when out and about hunting or scouting. Tying it back into a braid would have been acceptable, but since that's not an option -- short it is! There's at least two styles I like and hope will work on whatever face I give her.
I think I'm more concerned about what color I'll make her hair at this point. My Warden had red hair and Hawke black, so it's going to have to be some shade of brown. I have a thing against elves with blonde hair. Elves always have blonde hair. But not my elves, dammit.

One would think since there are many console players, and mods will be difficult, there will be more variety for the hairstyles...really, a great CC, but devalued by really restrictive and tasteless hairstyles...sigh.

I understand the deal with long hair clipping, but there really are a lot of short haired/buzz cut options. I ain't complaining! No, short hair/tied back/buns is fine with me. Just a tad odd is all.

I know, right? 10000+ variables of your looks they said, you can customize your hero just the way you want they said. Oh but yeah you can, like, have only 1 hairstyle out of 10(?) or 15(?) total which won't bring tears to your eyes.
Just why Bioware, why? 
Why we have a dozen riding animals, a tons of Skyhold decors and so few hair options?

Would've liked a cute braid myself, but overall not too shabby in my opinion. I'll be going with the longer hair with the side shaving.
I really like the hair because they look so damn practical. That's what I go for when building my characters. Especially as an elf running around in the woods (and also fighting demons), the easier the hair the better for logistics and hygiene (it also fits with my Inquisitor's personality). Though I've never taken my Sensei up on this advice, short hair is all the better for fighting so that it doesn't get in the way and it is hard for someone to grab. I actually imagine it's possibly why Solas is bald. Shaved head is easy to clean and you avoid lice/fleas.

to keep a shiny bald head is necessary to shave it every morning, just like a beard.
Slightly long hair (like a pixie cut) would be pratical and easy to keep clean, without having to shave every day.

True, but shaving stubble is a little easier than giving yourself a haircut I might imagine. For full disclosure, I completely had to ask my husband about shaving because I have no idea. His response "Maybe elves are naturally hairless?" lol. Perhaps he keeps his head so hairless magically... I do agree on the pixie cut being relatively easy to maintain and there seems to be a good number of those. Despite any posturing about my practicality, I still love hair...unless it is on Solas.

That's what's cracking me up! I will never be able to take those lines seriously, but Solas saying that line takes it to a whole new level xD
