Yeah, I think I'm going to name her Ariana.

I thought I did but now it's a toss up.
1. Mythalla - modification of Mythal. In my head I was thinking that her mother was very devoted to the Elven gods and named her daughter with the expectation that she would emulate her. I thought it was fitting for a mage elf since she will be the Keeper's first and very dedicated to protecting and serving others.
2. Aiyana - a native american name meaning "eternal blossom"
3. Anuba - also a native name meaning "she returns from war"
If anyone has an opinion on these it would be awesome because my husband is zero help. ![]()

Guys, you all seem to have put a lot of thought into your Lavellan's name, and they're all really pretty
. I wanted something with an elven meaning for mine, so I searched in the wiki and thought that Adahlen (which means "forest") was pretty appropiate for her, since I imagine her being most comfortable around the wilderness and animals.
Edit: that or Dorfen (which means "Grey wolf" or something like that). I'm not really as set as I thought I was lol
Edit 2 (lel I'm a mess): LapCat, all the names are pretty/have powerful meanings, but I think perhaps you should go with Mythalla for the elven meaning? idk, I really like the meaning of Anuba too. Sorry if I'm not very helpful.

Yep,her name will be Arya which means Noble. I know she's not exactly "Noble". I just think that name sounds a bit elvish lol.
What's your elf's name gonna be?
I have it narrowed down to Onyx or Aiyanna. I'm thinking of combining the two names into one or just having her name consist of both
.

I was looking up Native American names and I came across the definition for Aiyanna the other night. It's a really pretty name and I like that it has to do with eternity, reminded me of the ancient elf theory.

Mine is going to be Zariel. It doesn't mean anything that I know of I was just trying to make up a pretty name that sounded elven. I followed Patrick Week's advice (from his tweets about making up elven names) and added -iel to the end.

My elf will either be Arla Lavellan ('Arla' is elven for 'home', like 'Arlathan'), or Rue Lavellan, which is less elven but I really like the name.
I still have a little bit of time left to make up my mind! ![]()
Rue might make more sense for my (eventual) human Inquisitor though, or for my Blackwall-romancing dwarfette.

Cari is my Lavellan's name! Short and sweet; it suits her. If I look for it on Google it's given a bunch of meanings, mostly some variant of the Welsh or Gaelic word for "beloved or love". I played around with the idea of it being short for something longer but I haven't thought of anything suitable.
Some fantastic name ideas in here. Thinking of names is actually really difficult for me, haha! My Lavellan's name came easier than most of the other names I've given my characters.

I'm still liking Raina for my elf rouge...but also been liking Verlaina recently! I like both since they sound lovely and go well with her last name.
It took me forever to decide what her class would be, her name seems like an easy thing, at least for me. xD

Hey, does anyone know if the full skin-tone range will be available for all non-qunari races? I really want to make a dark-skinned elf, but I can't remember if that section of the skin tone slider was ever explored for an elf in any of the character creation demos.
They have the same range of skintones that both the human and dwarves have. It goes from super pale to really dark, so I think you have a good shot of being able to use the tone you'd like! ![]()

I was going to name my female elven rogue Luthien or Melian and my male elven mage Feanaro but I'm just not very original when picking out names. I could spend all day and night molding their faces like putty while having a blast but always seem to get frazzled when deciding on what to finally call them. I'm also going to shamelessly make one playthrough with my own name because "reasons"...

Want Elven names ? Tired of LoTR ?
Just look to Elder Scrolls.
They have 11 races of Elves there :- Aldmer, Altmer, Ayleid, Bosmer, Chimer, Dunmer, Dwemer, Sinistral Mer, Maormer, Orsimer & Falmer. Which means they have a ton of names for elves. I am sure you can find some that you like.
Here are my suggestions for Elven names:- Ayrenn, Fasendil, Sinderion, Elenwen, Ancano, Dravynea, Karliah, Neloth, Brelyna, Galerion, Lleril, Teldryn, Aranea, Vyrthur, Sidanyis...

Names? Well...easy choice for me. XD (Yeah, am just copy/pasting this from an earlier post.)
All my Wardens (did all Origins, but only finished the game with a human rogue, and nearly finished with an elven mage and Dalish rogue) were called Jeir, bar my only human male mage, whom I called Nemisar.
Both Hawkes (mage, rogue) were called Jeir.
My three planned Inquisitors (human mage, elven rogue, qunari mage/rogue) will be called Jeir.
(My Shepard was also called Jeir. As was my Nerevarine/Champion/Dovahkiin/Lone Wanderer/Courier. Same with my Fateless One, Dragon Knight and Kalach-cha. As was my main WoW Blood Elf hunter and Guild Wars ranger. And also on pretty much every site I've signed up to that allows 4-letter names, such as the Nexus modding sites.)
I'm so original. XD Been using this name for over a decade, after making it up one day when bored in school. Only found out later that it's Manx for 'tear' or 'tears' (as in the wet stuff that comes out of your tear ducts when you cry, rather than the ripping/shredding kind). So, er, if you see a 'Jeir' around (or a 'Jeir Velothril/Jeir_Velothril (my Steam and Origin account name)'), good chance it's me. ![]()

So many nice names. My names don't have any meaning except maybe Icasaracht. I took that one from Icewind Dale game.
I will name my first Inquisitor: Lan'Icarlisamera Icasaracht Lavellan. I am still changing it, fixing it and +,- some letters, but then it is the question if it will fit whole in name bar. If not, then or Lan'Icarlisamera or Icasaracht but then I have short name like Izara. I made this long one for fun, after I saw name of the Dalish Keeper of Lavellan clan. I found somehow amusing she has such long name but I made mine even longer
. If I am First to the Keeper , I need to continue tradition!

Mine will be Ellana Lavellan
So this is my canon Quizzie and she's also pretty much my self-insert so I want her name to not only be something I liked, but something I could see myself being called.
My real name is Elizabeth, so I had thought of going with the Scottish variation, Elspeth, but it didn't really sound Elvish enough. Then I liked Ailsa because it could distantly be related to Elizabeth and sounded Elvish, but it didn't really click.
But Ellana is perfect because it's the first two letters of my name mixed with a name that has been really special to me since I was a little girl, Lana, so I'm pretty sure this one is going to stay. And she could be called either Ellie or Lana for short.

I also spent way too long looking at baby name pages to pick one. Pretty sure Google thinks I'm expecting now. I think it means Bright. Bright works for somebody who has a glowing hand. She also going to be a bit like Nia from TTGL.
My other planned inquisitor (human male mage) is going to be called Rufio. Mostly so I can just chant that, Hook style, at my tv screen whenever he is being awesome and sassy. I've also just learned that it means 'red haired' which is perfect, because he was always going to be ginger/red headed. I make way too many ginger heroes of Thedas....

My Lavellan's name is Siri, it means victory in scandinavian, but I found out a little while ago that it's also a personal assistant application from apple...
*sigh* Yes, I'm one of those people who doesn't have a fancy phone and keeps using their old one until it breaks before buying a new one
so I'm thinking about changing it to Syrie, just so it's a bit different but still has the same pronunciation, what do you guys think? And all of your names are wonderful, they're all really pretty and unique!

I have a ginger problem too, Oswin. I'm saving the gingerness for Lavellan the second though
I think I've said this before but I'm just taking the name I was going to use for my circle mage and giving it to my Lavellan because I got attached to it. So she'll be named Kerra. Maybe I'll pretend she didn't start out Dalish to explain the lack of Welsh name or accent, which I'm sure will bother me.

Darel is the name I'm gonna use for my rogue. Is a Sindarin word than mean "halting". Since her phate is to stop the deamons, I felt it was appropriate. And is short and cute. I have this thing, I like short names. ![]()
Usually I use names that represent something for me at the moment, a game, a movie, or a book recently read, Sometimes is just something that came to mind while creating the character.
