I wonder, if you become close enough to him(and possibly needing to be a mage as well) if he will be able to take you into the Fade WITH him using his technique. I think that could make for a really amazing "new world" kind of scenario, especially if you have a romance going with him. It could be SO COOL!!
I agree, I'm now more excited to learn even more about him. Like I hope he can heal, any word on that?
No we haven't gotten any info on Solas being a healer. 
We don't, we can change armour for stats purposes but the look will always morph to something that matches their personal styles.
I bet Vivienne came up with that idea just because she knew that some of us would put her in stuff like rusty armor.

I can just imagine Solas head floating in a psychadelic background, so pretty much the fade. 
I having one of my ME analogy moments again but that idea of Solas taking you into the Fade with him could be like that shared moment with Liara near the end and you could have that whether you were in a romance with her or not.
Actually, now that I think on it - doesn't the player having full control of their wardrobe kinda ruin potential clothing-related banter? We could put Vivienne in Solas's potato sack clothes, no? XD
I may or may not have Morrigan running around in the Seer's vestements and a Circle mage cap in one of my playthroughs. She looks... surprisingly all right that way.
So, what if Solas is the companion that sticks with you until the end no matter what? Considering his reasoning for joining the Inquisition and how important his knowledge is to the cause, I could definitely see that!
That reminds me - has there been any speculation since the reveal on how Morrigan might view him? It's been about 20 pages since I went to bed last night and I'm a lazy so and so.
I'm thinking her reaction might be interesting because if he can pick up memories from where a person has been, is that anybody or just dead ones? If you had something to hide and he could pick up on it just by going to one of your haunts, that would be a reason why such a person might not like him very much.

I have a feeling it will be Cassandra since she appears to be the one who first finds the PC. Her, or Varric if they continue the "storyteller" thing from DA2 (which I doubt, but hey, could be?). Still, I plan on having all companions with me until the end.

If only the game had the capability of companions commenting on stuff like that! I forget which game I was playing...Saints Row 3, or something?...but the PC would comment as you dressed them in different outifts ("oh, hell no!", etc).
I'm happy with the "companions retain their own personal look" thing, though. I like them maintaining a style that's distinctly them.

I'd say this one is Cassandra since she's the one who practically founds the Inquisition in a manner of speaking,but still I wouldn't mind Solas sticking with my quizy,until the end,no matter what. 
Now I'm just picturing them fighting hordes of demons while "A Whole New World" is playing.

Morrigan and my Surana probably wouldn't be happy if he ever takes a nap in Redcliffe Castle.

It looks like all mages will be able to heal. It's implemented in one of the basic trees.

Like others said it is most possibly Cassandra though it very well could be that, like Allistar who seemed like he would stick by you no matter what, Cassandra could end up leaving through some type of quest and you could get another "secret companion" like Loghain. It would not discount Bioware's statement on "you can finish the game with one companion left."
Solas is a very cool character. Stoic, dry, smart, earnest. I'm glad we get to talk about him a bit more.

Seems to be me that Solas will have issues with any closed minded Inquisitors who want to put all mages back into the circles and anti-elf behavior will probably anger him.
Iron Bull, Vivienne and Sera all seems to want to join up Inquisition as well going by their character profile. He's just doing it for what appear to be less selfish reasons...
I really love how people are suddenly finding Solas interesting. It's true there wasn't much info to go on before, but he was largely dismissed for the bald and long johns. Now? It seems to be a lot of, "Eh he's not pretty but he sounds cool." It's awesome. I'll laugh if he turns out to be the best loved character of the game. It will be a happy laugh, but a laugh nonetheless.
