I was all for Cullen before playing! And then this Solas... This elf dude just grabbed my MCs hand and I was like; "Well, hello..."

 

Love at first sight.

 

I started over and made an elf. xD

I keep thinking in unhappy despair that they weren't going to have Solas romanceable in the first version of the game! I couldn't imagine not being able to romance our adorable hedge mage! He's by far my favorite romance so far and man... he may even beat Alistair for my all time favorite romance in DA... However, I have to admit, I was giggling when I did the first few flirts with Cullen as well, haha. Everyone is too adorable!

 

On another note, everything I do makes Solas give me approval. x'D Its like I breathe and "Solas slightly approves" pops up on the screen haha! I take it as Solas being just as smitten with Verlaina as she is with him. I'm also trying to avoid all the spoilers people keep saying about him, but its so hard! Though in my own type of spoilers, I can't recommend just talking with him enough as well, he had so many good points on topics like spirits and the fade that I stopped and went "woah."

Many mind-blowing moments so far with him.

I'm really enjoying this game!

 

You know a game is good when it's admittedly riddled with weird UI design, bugs of all shapes and sizes, graphics wonkiness...and you still love the damned thing to pieces.

 

For anyone who's completed the Hinterlands (or made considerable progress there)

How do you finish the quest for the apostate mage supply caches?  There's supposedly one cache remaining, by the castle full of crazy cultists toward the southern side of the map, and I can't figure out for the life of me how to get it.

I need to figure out how to take screenshots again. I thought I had taken a ton, but my screenie folder is empty.

 

I assume most people have had the early flirts already, buuut. There is a good way to deal with the Dalish conversation.

If you choose the top option, your character says something like "Ir Abelas, Hahren. What would you teach us?", to which he approves, and calls you da'len. It's kinda a funny angle for the romance.

 

I can't figure out how to move forward with Solas's romance. I'm about 11 hours in, and I don't have any dialogue options with him left. I bought the Arcane knowledge perk in an attempt to open up dialogue options with him, but it doesn't seem to have done anything. So I figured I'd go back to the Hinterlands, take care of both the mages and templars, build the watchtowers, make the horsemaster happy, then go to redcliffe if I still don't have any dialogue options.

 

I've had some difficulty with the dialogue options too. There isn't an obvious tone to a lot of the responses, other than the ones with the pictures. So I want to play a playful/snarky Lavellan, but mostly she comes off more as.. Well. Kind, and slightly snarky. And bookwormish. Not that it's a bad thing. But it makes it really hard to flirt with both Solas and Sera.

Haha, so legit with Solas approving everything you do! I'm about 12/13-ish hours, and so far I don't think he's even been slightly disapproved with anything I've done. Good to know you enjoy him so much, though! I was worried he'd be a bit dry, but sounds like he's just fine :>

People who have been playing awhile, do the special classes unlock at a certain level? None of my companions have the specialties, they aren't there, like knight enchanter etc. we are all level9. Also I can't find DORIAN, there isn't quest to pick him up.

I don't know when the specializations unlock.  I just got to Skyhold and still no signs of them. Dorian comes in the "Hushed Whispers" quest, or the quest if you choose to side with the mages. If you side with the Templars, you go on a different mission and get Cole instead. The other one will come a little bit later during the culmination of the first act of the game. So if you sided with the mages, you recruit Dorian and have to wait until the end of the first act for Cole. If you side with Templars, you recruit Cole and have to wait for Dorian.

 

@Nhadalie: I only got a new flirt option/conversation with Solas after I finished the main mage quest. It might be a case of having to make a big decision or pump up their approval enough to get new conversation options. And then more come along once you reach Skyhold.

I'm about eighteen hours in, though three of those were spent on reloads and my first ugly character. However I'm loving it so far, and Solas is absolutely amazing in ways that make me happy that he's available to romance. One of the only characters who I didn't either end up hating when I used to be excited for them or absolutely loving when I thought I couldn't care less. What's better is that I don't get the same feeling from him that I got from Alistair, that I would love him the first few times and then come to dislike him after the fact, so I'm really so very excited right now it isn't even funny.

Also I read the spoiler for him, and damn if it didn't blow my pet theory of him being Shartan reborn out of the water. I love it far more though.

OMG you guys it's 9:30pm here in the UK and I am obsessively checking amazon every two seconds (almost literally) and it STILL HASNT SHIPPED. it's not even preparing for dispatch, omg. I'm this close to falling on my knees in frustration and shouting 'MAKER WHYYYYY?!' in the style of Sebastian xD

I want it so BAAAAAD. I haven't been this excited about something since I was a kid waiting for Christmas, lmao. I keep getting the pre-order page up on my ps4 and almost buying it because I'm terrified the game won't arrive on Friday. I've totally spoiled myself on Solas's storyline and it's made me want it even more, lol.

Hi, I've been lurking in this thread for a while because I was torn between Solas and Bull for my first romance. I was holding off on flirting with anyone until I met them all and could decide on who to romance. I've decided to go with Solas, but I missed his first two flirts and I was wondering if I should restart to make sure I can romance him or if I can still get him.
