So Solas is an Elven god. What a fantastic twist!

So I said I wouldn't romance Solas because he looks too much like my high school boyfriend, but after playing through about six times to level 10 (thank you BioWare for no Mirror of Transformation    ), the guy has just really grown on me.  I haven't been reading any spoilers, but I'm also looking forward to any story twists regarding him!

 

Here's my Dalish Hunter, Alanna, the elven supremecist.  Yeah, she'll probably butt heads with him a few times since he's not Dalish, but I think they'll eventually get over that.

 

And I'm just going to ignore the silly little sideburn pieces of hair sticking out on the sides of her face.  This character creator seems to really want to make cheekbones that are too wide for my tastes.

I don't know if this is already known but I just noticed that there was something added to Solas' tarot card in the Codex by Leliana after you complete the game. This is what it literally says:

Haha I know right. I'm glad that our Lavellans aren't completely in the dark, but this calls for more! We need Fade dreams and trips to elven ruins on our quest for our Dread Wolf! I do wonder if the village he said he was from was actually the truth, maybe he lived there once, before he became Fen'Harel, if that's even possible. I mean, how do you become a god? He couldn't have always been that, right?... So maybe Solas was actually who he described to be in a distant past, from that village that's now reduced to ancient ruins? Gah, I wish we had more to go on, I'm glad I found it by complete accident but it's not enough, I want to know more!

The other day, I had a team of Blackwall, Solas and Sera. Sera brings up the relationship to Solas. Saying something about how we're bumping elven bits together and a prompt came up. It was either "(laughs)" or "Cut that out!" I chose the laugh one and it was more of a condescencing laugh like and Quiz said "You're ridiculous" and it made Sera stammer a bit and Solas says, "Now, who's looking childish?"

I got that one too, yesterday. When you choose the other response, he says something about ignoring Sera, and tries to comfort you. I thought laughing would be better, so I reloaded before it happened. But it hasn't fired again. I guess the other response actually is better.

 

I love his banters with everyone. He comes across as really clever in most of them. I think my favorite companions for his banters with are Cole and Sera. He tries so hard to make Sera see that there is more in life. That her life could have purpose.

 

I've found that I don't like some companions as much as I thought I would. And I absolutely love other companions. I have a really hard time connecting with Vivienne, I can't help viewing her as a snake in the garden. Since her purpose is all political. And I'm more neutral on Sera than I thought I would be. She comes across a lot more selfish than I was expecting. On the other hand, I absolutely love Dorian, Iron Bull, and Cole. They're all fantastic. Aside from Solas, I think those three are my next favorites.

 

 

I've been drawing out my playthrough as long as possible.

Because I'm not ready for him to leave. And because I'm a completionist. I just saw the ball this morning, and I was glad that he didn't really care what political machinations occurred. Though for those of us who already know who he is, it's not really a surprise. It makes sense. I loved how at ease he was with the whole thing, and he was kinda suggestive when you talk to him at the winter palace. He mentioned enjoying viewing the sex, among other things, at these events. I think it might count as another suggestion that he and Lavellan have been intimate. Though it's a shame we never see it.

He says he doesn't believe the ancient elven gods were actually GODS, but that something (or someone) must have existed to start the legends. Mages, spirits, or something we've never seen before. Does this mean he doesn't think of himself as a god? Or is Solas actually Solas... possessed by the spirit of Fen'Harel?

Imagine Solas,  preoccupied with his task, not daring to come close again to Lavellan, but never really forgetting that mortal elf who managed to catch his attention. So through the years, he keeps checking up on her, unnoticed of course, tries to keep her out of harms way as good as he can without drawing attention to himself.
And some 20 or 30 years later, they meet again. Maybe of some miscalculation on his part, maybe she tracked him down, maybe he wanted to reveal himself again. And she aged, of course she did, and he didn't. And despite everything, despite whatever she throws at him or how she reacts, this is the first time since he left the Inquisition, that he actually feels whole again.
And that frightens him the most.

Don't mind me, just letting my head run with sappy headcanons in case I really let my poor Lavellan end up with this pyjama wearing bastard and not with Sera I do think we will get some answers in one way or another. C'mon, you can't give people a cutscene like that and just drop it completely afterwards.

I could have restarted the game, but her androgynous look grow on me, and I really like her so far. She is an ususpected beauty in some shot, she just need a little of good makeup. (my fault, I'm not good with cosmetics in real life too, I was afraid to make her a panda)

I'd like a mirror of transformation just to headcan Vivienne dragged her to have a good session of makeup (just like my friends sometimes do)

 

She is City born (at least her parents where), she grow up with the stories of the Dalish, so she is very curious of history and legends, she would have became the storyteller of the clan, but that was denied to her since the Keeper thought she was better as a scout and spy.

She felt that was a real injustice to her, so she was more than eager to leave the clan for the mission, and she doesn't have regrets about not returning to the clan after the events at the temple, since after accompling the mission she would have still left the clan.

Darel is curious and a bit sarcastic. She is quite pissed about being called the "herald of Andraste". If she had to related to the Humans religion, she would have at least liked to be associated to Shartan.

Post game, I imagine my Lavellan looking for Solas everywhere she can. Primarily in the fade. He taught her that spirits were not something to be afraid of, but a source of knowledge. And she will learn from them while looking for him. Perhaps the spirits send her dreams to mend her broken heart, only for her to stop them and ask them to share some of their history with her instead. While Solas checks in on her in the fade, always skirting around the edges to avoid being caught. Until someday, when he can't stand it anymore, and has to see her.

 

And on super story spoilers as far as the future..

I really really want a dlc with some sort of conclusion. There is just too strong of emotions between the two characters. I can't see them staying apart forever. I don't think Solas leaving is the end. He obviously loves Lavellan with all of his heart. It's written in everything he says and does towards her. But I think he might be afraid of how she'd react to finding out that he's Fen'Harel. And I think he wants to protect her from the others like him. Which, I suspect is part of the reason he kills Flemeth, or at least a side benefit to it.

 

I also saw something Cole said that only made sense as far as Solas is concerned. "He betrayed them all. But she made him forget, and so he stayed." Solas knew all along that his time with them was temporary, he tried to prevent things from developing with Lavellan, but he couldn't. They fell in love anyway. But the uncertainty of his position with them would make things difficult for her. And so he left, thinking that it would be better this way.

There better be a DLC where we find him and there will be choices where we can either tell him to hit the road or they can stay together...a good closure cause this romance doesn't feel complete at all and I don't like that he just called it quits and left.

I'd say its very possible that Solas is both mortal and some sort of ancient god entity. Flemeth describes herself as being both Mythal and Flemeth, so there is a precedence. 

 

Another possible hint to support this- in both variants of Solas's ending card, he is not the wolf. He is either a shadow breaking off from the dread wolf, or the wolf is standing peacefully at his side.

 

I rather like the idea of him being Fen'Harel, but I wouldn't be surprised by the revelation that its a bit more complicated either.

I believe I have learned a valuable lesson after three Dragon Age games now. Unless you really want relationship drama x1,000, DO NOT - I repeat - DO NOT romance the first mage you get in your party.

I think I should stop romancing mages in general. The only one that doesn't break my poor characters hearts is Dorian, and that's because he's plainly not interested haha. Its fun to flirt with him as a female character though, after he reveals that he doesn't like women you can be like "i think you led me on". he will apologize and offer to stop. If you say you like the flirting he starts saying things like "I love watching you go" at the end of conversations xD

I am expecting a DLC and will be extremely sad and pissed off if there isn't one, tbh. This needs so much closure. If Morrigan had her own then Solas needs to as well.

I agree with this. I wont exactly be pissed off at it alone but I feel like the story as a whole, not just the romance arc, doesn't have proper closure. It's driving me nuts because I want to know what everyone does after. Origins and DA2 gave you some degree of closure in the story as well as the epilogue, but here I don't believe the story has a proper conclusion. sure the bad guy is gone but you're still sitting there. In skyhold. With an army.

^ pretty much this. I can imagine my Lavellan delving into all sorts of ruins looking for both hints at what the orb was and why Solas was so upset about it, as well as trying to learn how to fade dream like Solas does so she can look for memories of where he might have been and might be going.
