I got the game on Friday and spent the weekend pretty much eating, sleeping and breathing it and I STILL have barely touched the main quest. But omg I was so sure my first playthrough would be as a Cullenmancer but I've literally just reloaded back ten hours because I couldn't take it anymore, Solas and my Sybba Lavellan have so much chemistry, I'M SORRY CULLEN I know you can break up with them but it just felt wrong. I think I'm gonna have to give myself a break from it over the next few days to regroup, lmao.

We know she knows he has ties to the ruins of an ancient village (per letter from Leliana) so I guess she must be aware he's not what he seems, some kind of ancient being - how would she react to being told I am the Dread Wolf, or I carry Fen'Harel's spirit with me the same way Flemeth carried Mythal's?

 

And finally, we don't really know specifics of Solas's plans or intentions (speculating on that is hella fun) but - what would your Lavellan do? Help him and go along with them no matter what they are? Try to strike them down to save the world if that's what it came to? Try to dissuade him? Etc

Isn't he not at full power yet? Hence the whole horrible stuff that happens when he gives Cory his ancient elven ball or whatever to try and unlock the power or...

 

Actually, since I haven't finished the main storyline yet, can someone kindly give me the recap on that bit? I'm likely confusing it with false spoiler leaks and whatnot.

 

Bottom line is: isn't the Solas we play 99% of the game with not at full power after his awakening from his long slumber? So, maybe that's why and how?

Mine did. Her faith in what she had been taught, her very culture, was shattered during their trip to the Temple of Mythal and hearing Abelas outright claim that she and the Dalish were not 'his people'. It was one thing to hear it from Solas, but another to hear it from the Ancient Elves that she and her clan had been hoping to emulate - to preserve their way of culture. Learning, after, that her markings were the marks of slavery was far too much for her and she couldn't remove them fast enough. So Solas breaking up with her right after that? Even more of a dick move in my eyes as she was extremely fragile then and would have possibly fallen down never to get back up if she didn't have an Inquisition to run. As it was, having to keep the Inquisition running kept her going and helped her get past it all. However, she isn't sure what she'll do when it comes time to leave and visit her clan again.

 

As for his intentions... After probably yelling at him, she'd probably end up yelling some more - exclaiming 'why didn't you trust me to help you?' and venting all her frustrations before enveloping him in a hug and never letting go. She'd stay by his side and probably act as the voice of reason, to ensure his plans don't hurt anyone and only bring about positive changes. If he becomes the villain some of us feel he might... She'll fight him to the very end, all the while trying to make him see reason. Yet she will still love and support him regardless of that fact, regardless of how he hurt her, and regardless of what/who he is. To her, he is himself, and that's all she cares about. There is a good man there, one she loves dearly, she won't abandon that so easily.

 

If she never meet shim again however I picture her eventually just traveling the world to offer aid to people she meets - and if the Dalish have a cultural ritual or item that is worn to signify the desire to never be married, or to show they already are in love with someone, she will wear that too. There will be no other after Solas, at least not for her.

I also agree that Solas has the most dramatic, and game changing romance in the game. I'm going to have such a hard time playing anything other than a female elf again. And when I'm playing other Inquisitors, I will stare moodily across the screen at him.

 

 

I elected not to romance him and still stare moodily across the screen at him.  WHY DO I ALWAYS END UP IN HIS ROOM?! He's a frustratingly wonderful character. I don't know if I can go through with his romance as-is, though. I know I'm in the minority on that here...

I just really struggle with this type of ending. I don't like being punched in the feels that hard without any payoff...I mean, it bothers me and I haven't even done it!

I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed for a DLC or, better yet, a proper full expansion that addresses things. His wry sense of humor kills me. Also, the tight pants, now and forever. *siiiiiiiigh* He's still in my party all the time. THE STRUGGLE IS REAL.

 

On the upside, Cullen's romance is just...*fans self*  It's the other one I was really excited for, and it's perfect. Well, to me it's perfect. Like, I've replayed some of the cutscenes just to sigh over them. And

I love knowing that Maia gets to keep the man she loves in the end. They're really sweet together, and I'm very attached to my Lavellan...you guys know how it is with that first playthrough. It's always a special one.

In general, the game has just knocked me on my butt with awesome.  Without giving anything away about it for those who haven't gotten that far, the whole pre-Skyhold sequence? Holy crap. Also

it was really fun seeing my Hawke again. More than I'd figured on, really. And she mentioned being with Fenris, which thrilled my sappy romantic heart.

I know people's experiences are varying, but for me this has been worth every bit of the wait.

My Ariadne Lavellan is gonna choose to let the vallaslin go, when the time comes - I haven't gotten to that point in the game yet, but I've seen it on YouTube and obsessed over it accordingly, lol. I think she'll have doubts at first - after all, they've been a part pf her identity for so long - and be sad on behalf of the Dalish because they "messed up" when they were only trying to remember... but she's a very progressive elf. She's looking toward the future, even if it's uncertain. And the path to a brigter future is in better understanding the past.

And JFC I thought about how she would react sooo many times. I can just see her putting the pieces together after reading Leliana's report, determinably scouring ancient ruins for signs of her love... if he told her himself, I think she would go into shock for a little bit. That's a BIG surprise. But in the end, she would still reach for his hand - she loves him, no matter who or what he is.

That last question is a toughie, because we know so little about his goals. But Solas as we've seen him is kind. He likes it when the Inquisitor helps people. He's not an unreasonable guy... my Lavellan is fascinated by Solas's vision of a world where humans/elves/etc and spirits coexist in peace. She may not understand it, precisely, but she thinks it's beautiful. And he seems determined that she not be the slave of any god (including himself, it seems!), so I can't imagine that his ultimate goal is super evil or anything.

I like to think that he's always with her, anyway. After all, bro can pop into her head anytime he wants lol.

1. From the get go my Lavellan was not a very elfy elf this is why she was the one from her clan that went to the summit. Upon hearing the meaning of the vallaslin she was devistated that her people got yet another thing wrong and was more than willing to allow Solas to proceed with the spell.
2. I came into this game not knowing and neither did she. My Lavellan is a very open person, unafraid of the unknown, who prefers to learn things the hard way. She would be mad that he kept it from her because she had finally fiund someone to accept her for who she is and that he would think she wouldn't do the same. Especially since wolves are her favorite animal c:
3. Odds are she would go with most any plan since she really feels quite separate from the world she has saved. The events of the inquisition and her love of Solas changed her and solidified in her mind that she really doesn't belong in this world. Sure she saved it but what choice did she have.

As for the ending, I am very intrigued. I hope that it is for an expansion with our inquizzy, or dragon age four but with our quizzy. As people have stated, it's an organisation and it feels more right for that to continue than Hawke or The Warden did. Would be nice to start of the next bit with Lavellan/inquizzy searching for Solas. Elven Gods or 'gods' appear to be the direction for the next one. 

I wouldn't mind extra dlc for pre-post gameplay too, ala Legacy or Citadel. They had some romance bits in those.

I am also imagining Solas as a shapeshifter, Flemeth has her dragon form, and he his wolf.

They probably taste like victory to him. One of my favorite videos on youtube was of how the voice actor for Hughes from the english adaptation of Full Metal Alchemist was THRILLED to hear that he made people cry with his performance, it actually made him feel better about not being able to play the character anymore. I imagine Mr. Weekes might be the same... The sadist... (I kid, we love you Mr. Weekes!)

 

It's the same for me, though he pushed out Merrill and a few other characters instead. I love this cast so much, and while Solas now has the top spot the rest have all taken their places in my top tens for one reason or another. Except Sera... Though her last few missions took her out of 'omg please stop talking' to 'you're alright, let's get better cookies'.

Gah! I loved Hughes. I sob like a baby every time he dies.

 

Call me a masochist, but I love that Solas's romance makes us feel so strongly. It's a sign of a really really well written character, and a point of pride, I think.

 

My favorite DA character list probably looks something like.. 1.Solas, 2. Fenris, 3.Alistair, 4.Zevran. At least as far as romanceables. I think Cullen will end up on the list too.

 

I like Sera, but I have a really hard time relating to her as my Lavellan. She doesn't approve of like anything I do. Because you have to take some kind of a stand, and she just doesn't like it. I think my mage Lavellan thinks Sera is all sorts of wishy washy, and needs to figure out what to do with herself. I really liked the banter between Sera and Solas where he gives her advice for how to give the Red Jennies a purpose. That they can do more than just cause a little chaos every now and then.

 

Sera feels like she wants a purpose, but she is too uncertain to pursue one. And it kinda puts her on the fence for me. I love her interactions with the others though.

I find myself running into Solas's room twice minimum every time I play. Just to hear him say "My heart".   Because he never has any dialogue options available..

I love his romance to pieces. I can't imagine not playing it. I also have a couple characters started to romance other people, but I haven't really gone anywhere with them. It hurts me to leave my Solas romancing Lavellan alone.(I've been keeping saves before every one of his romance scenes just to play through them again, and get screenies.)

 

The tight pants struggle is crazy. I love his casual outfit. The sweater, tight pants, and wolf tooth necklace? ~swoon~ He just looks so cozy! I want to make my Lavellan snuggle up with him.

 

I originally thought I'd be more interested in Cullen than Solas, until they announced Solas was romanceable. Then I jumped onto the elf ship, and haven't looked back. Maybe because I have a thing for elves. Their culture is always fascinating in every setting. But Cullen is my next romance! And his early flirts are really fulfilling. I might've made a redheaded, blue eyed Trevelyan mage that looks like my Amell Warden for him.

 

I also might've made a Qunari for Sera, after her curiousity as to what Qunari women look like.

 

I agree wholeheartedly about the game. It's been a fantastic ride so far. I want to say that it might even be better than Origins, in my opinion. It's a struggle to decide which is the best. And I LOVED the mention of Fenris from Hawke. Even after all this time, I still swoon for Fenris.

 

I might be finishing my Lavellan play through in the next week, depending. Thanksgiving break = I have even more time to play Inquisition. I'm already about 60 hours in.
