Okay I just started the next quests with Morrigan in the fade with her son/Flemeth and my first question was prematurely stupid. It's quite literally stated Flemeth is Mythal, haha.

 

Rapidly gone off Flemeth. Why has she been so useless? I suppose her motives changed when she merged with the human Flemeth, but you would still think her original purpose would still be reflected some what.

 

I bet Bioware are gearing up to reveal that she was Andraste too, linking all the religions together. >.>

She's human because the spirit of Mythal came to a human woman I think. That human (Flemeth) joined with her and carries her with her. She continues to exist by possessing bodies of her daughters. Her daughters must have all been human.

How did you handle his personal quest?

Those Kirkwall mages definitely fall into the "too stupid to live" category, but I stopped him from killing them. It was interesting to see him so enraged. There's a passionate side you wouldn't expect from his cool demeanor. It has interesting parallels to Cole's quest.

I let Solas kill the mages, which really surprised me, but it honestly felt right in the moment, and I still stand behind it. He lost his friend because of these people. As a player, I was also surprised that Solas turned out to be right about his classification of spirits, and spirits who are denied their purpose being 'demons', since she reverted back to her form when the wards were destroyed.

I don't know if I personally believe her about the whole 'can't take a soul over without its permission' line. I mean, if you could why would you let anyone know in the first place? It suits her better if Morrigan were to have her guard down.

By the same logic surely Cory and Solas are both also responsible. Cory was trying to rip the Veil anyway and Solas gave him access to an elven ancient artifact of ancient untold power. The blast imo is a result of several peoples' actions.

 

Re: Mythal, you're right! Excellent. So that would be why she wasn't sealed away with the rest of them. Solas and Mythal both wanted change and so worked together to do so. Solas went to sleep and Mythal walked the world since.

Mythal couldn't have walked the world since, as Abelas states that Mythal was betrayed and murdered a long time ago. And Flemeth specifying that her whole original tale was true(altho I'm sure it's not 100% true) and that the spirit that granted her power and came to her was Mythal's. And ala Justice/Anders they have fused and are essentially the same person at this point. That's what I got from all of that.

That's kind of "old school" and nothing points to it, IMO.

IIRC, his eyes have the same color of the blue spirit gunk that you see when the old god passes from Kieran to Flemeth. Maybe it's that recovered piece, though I guess it's Flemeth/Mythal herself giving her power to him so he can carry on whatever they intend to do.

Did you drink or let Morrigan? I've done it both ways and honestly I'm torn. I think Solas is, too, because even though he protests that he begged you not to do it... he really didn't. He said Morrigan wasn't to be trusted.

 

I really wouldn't get hopes up for a post-game-events DLC. This smells to me like a setup for a future game. Definitely intriguing, though.

 

 

I suppose it depends on your interaction with him, but my interactions with Solas were mostly positive, and he became one of my favorite companions, which surprised me quite a bit since I thought we wouldn't get along.

My Lavellan, Revas, was male, and while we disagreed about the Dalish, we got along pretty well. My conversations with him ended up leading me away from an originally planned run as an orthodox Dalish who saw blood magic as evil and spirits as inherently dangerous, and leaned more towards a more unorthodox Dalish who viewed blood magic and spirits as more complex than simple good and evil, but still loved his people and cared about the elves in general. We had a really nice moment where Solas asked me if I had changed after I woke up with the Anchor, and I told him that I felt the same, leading to him thinking he was wrong about the Dalish. That was a nice moment, since it lead to me saying that while the Dalish weren't perfect, there was a lot of good in the society.

 

Solas also approved when I supported Briala, which was really nice. I started to suspect something was off when I mentioned how we had helped the elves by putting her in power, and he acted surprised when I mentioned 'our people'. Solas also lead me to becoming a Rift Mage, and we had a really nice conversation about it.

Hello Lobselvith, good to see you. No surprise in an elven thread.

 

My PC argued with him a bit too, which is the way I like it. I knew when he didn't have a romance dialogue option til later on that it was going to be the best

Is it a good idea to do this quest at this level... I know they gave a suggested range for your level, but now I'm just really impatient lol.

it's the attack on haven mission, and I'm exactly level 8 which is pretty much the minimum suggested requirement.

Did any of you guys manage to squeeze your way through this mission at a low level?

I let Solas kill them. If you kill my inquisitors friends (including the friends of her friends), she will do her best to kill you right back. 

 

I also liked the party banters after completing this quest. It was nice to hear Solas receive so many kind words from the other companions.

Right, so maybe she was murdered and betrayed, then her spirit found its way to Flemeth, and the Flemeth/Mythal combo has been walking the world for a long time. She wanted vengeance and so that's why she wasn't sealed away because she helped Solas to do so. Maybe. Sorry, maybe I'm misunderstanding you. Flemeth has clearly been around for a long time.

TheComfyCat I loved those dialogues as well, especially Cole's.

So, some more questions - interested on what peoples' opinions are on these things and if we have any kind of consensus lol!

- What did Solas do and what was and is he trying to do? What's his future plans/agenda?

 

- What happened in the postcredits scene? Did Flemeth possess Solas or did Solas kill and "drain" Flemeth?

 

I want to answer a few of these based on the scenes I've seen:

- Were the elven gods truly gods, something else, or simply ancient elves (thus they'd still be immortal) that had a lot of power, like mages or a powerful noble?

 

If you drink from the well and speak to Solas, he is angry about it. One of the dialog options is to point out that he doesn't even believe in the Elven gods, to which he points out that he doesn't believe they were gods but that they do exist. I'll provide a better quote after I do the scene again.

 

- Is Solas truly Fen'Harel or is it a bit more complicated than that - e.g. is it like is with Flemeth, where she was someone before, and the spirit of Mythal came to her and she's carried it with her since?

 

I believe that he is truly Fen'Harel. I believe that after Mythal was murdered, this set off the gods into falling into insanity and madness per the codex entries in the Temple stating that the gods had started to lose their minds. He locked away the gods due to this insanity as they were likely on the verge of decimating the People -- to which he felt he needed to protect. Which is why the elves hate him, because the locked them away and bad things happened. But, I truly believe the stories are painting him wrong. One of my theories is that Flemeth, with the spirit of Mythal could have truly been Andraste and that all the gods are truly connected, just the stories are told differently? It's possible with the fact that Flemeth has survived death before, by moving her soul into something that allows her to move elsewhere. Andraste's body burned, the ashes were left with extraordinary abilities (the power to heal). But, I ramble on that subject. tl;dr I think he's truly Fen'Harel, who went into Ulthenera once his task was done in grief in the loss of Mythal -- who is essentially the mother of the pantheon.

 

- What did Solas do and what was and is he trying to do? What's his future plans/agenda?

 

His agenda is to free the gods trapped in the Eluvian. But why now, is my question? For what purpose? To make the world whole again? To have a world where all sings? I think the fact that the dwarves are magically inept has something to do with this. There must be a reason they're not able to use magic and are essentially disconnected while elves were once immortal and all could use magic. But, why now? -- Was it because they essentially had the Old God Soul in the form of Kieran versus nothing previously? It's hard to say. We know he lacked the power to use his orb, and thus wanted Cory to unlock that power. Which is why they wanted it whole. But with it gone, they have to seek something different... Still, why now? What is there to gain now?

 

- What happened in the postcredits scene? Did Flemeth possess Solas or did Solas kill and "drain" Flemeth?

 

I believe that Flemeth gave her soul to Solas. It's hard to say if it is possession or not. The unwilling cannot be possessed, Flemeth said. So, either she willingly allows him to take the soul to further their purpose or he gives his body to her. But, he says The People need him -- how? Did Levallan convince him that the Dalish could change and grow from what was considered a shadow of their former selves? I've been pondering this for the last few days.

On my Andraste theory, Flemeth's words ring out to me: Once, I too, was a woman who cried out in the dark for justice. Mythal was murdered, she seeks justice and that brought her to Flemeth.

Honestly, I really don't think they're setting Solas up as a villain. He's too tragic a figure for that. And the truth about the elven "gods" doesn't necessarily have to be a whole game in and of itself. They've still got a bunch of archdemons underground, the Qunari-Tevinter war, what the black city is, etc.

 

What's frustrating is that Inquisition posed a whole lotta questions...and didn't answer them. Also who puts in a teaser for a game that's another 3-4 years away?

It's possible. I was playing as a mage and had Solas with me, so I took advantage of the barrier (with elegant defense upgrade) with the characters to protect my warrior and rogue. I suppose your mileage may vary depending on how well you've acclimated to the different control mechanics for combat; it took me a while to get used to the system in general, and even to figure out how to trigger the ambient dialogue (I completely missed the first time with Solas when he asked me about the Dalish because I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to hit to choose the dialogue options).

I wonder if his orb was dedicated to him, or was Fen'Harel even worshipped in the same way as the other gods? I suppose he would have been, back before he was demonized, when he was seen a god of rebellion rather than a trickster... maybe he can get a replacement orb. I don't know if he'd have to steal it from another slumbering ancient (locked within the Eluvians?) or if you can find artifacts of phenomenal cosmic power just lying around empty ruins lol.

I don't think Solas is necessarily villainous, either, but if he truly wants the physical world and the spiritual world to be united once more... there are a LOT of people both in universe and out who are going to object. Violently.

Soooo I am officially joining Solas fanclub! I've just finished the game with my wonderful dalish archer.

 

Not sure if anyone before mentioned this, but:

Somewhere at the begining of the game I was running around Skyhold and hearing all that crazy stuff that Cole did, so I've decided to ask him not to do that. But what stopped me was that he mumbled something about spirits that were ment to each other but were separated by thousands years. Basically, if you look in what Cole says you can find some refference to those people in Skyhold (like there was something like "There is no other man, he becomes the other man to do the things he can't" is really suits to Blackwall, "She know they are going to kill her, can save only what is important" - Josie?, "He though he killed his father, but he was his father" seems to be Dorian with father is more like "pride"?). I just see those refferences

 

Then there was personal Solas quest where his poor friend died. And after that you have a conversation with Solas in Skyhold, where you can learn that spirits do not actually die, they can come back, but they won't be as you remember them. 

 

So Solas is always making comments regarding the spirit of the Levallan. He even mentions that he hasn't seen such spirit since...? Yeah sure, there is this pause before he finds right words

 

And yeap there is a Cole banter with Solas where you can encourage Cole to speak. "You're real and it means everyone could be real. It changes everything, but it can't".

 

Which combined made me to theorycraft a bit: Solas somehow knew the spirit of our Lavellan in the past. Somehow her spirit returned to the world of living. And in this case his "But losing you..." seems to fit so nice.

 

I know this might be just my wishful thinking, but I like this idea.I need some more investigation on the matter though. 

 

Any thoughts?

Didn't he seem surprised at the Temple of Mythal that her power hadn't waned? My memory isn't the best but I do remember something to that effect. It could be he honestly didn't KNOW she was alive, inhabiting another form until they went there and made the connection. It makes sense given that Mythal was apparently murdered, and kind of gives their whole last scene another layer of complexity. What if Flemeth is also apologizing for not coming to him in his time of need? She's powerful enough, and all knowing enough, that she could have eventually put two and two together.

As sad as solas's romance seems to be, I can't wait to play my dalish elf.

I am of the belief that the inquistor will not be the protaganist of DA4, though tbh i don't want to play the inquistor in DA4. I do think we will get an awakening dlc in the future though. I want to play yet a new PC,

 

That said I do expect to see more of Solas in the future, as we are headed to the northern parts of Thedas and that means tevinter. Tevinter means Arlathan forest. That means lots of elven folklore and history. Which is one thing I am looking foreward to, even though tevinter culture interests me as well. I highly expect to see Solas in Arlathan, considering what he is, it would be silly for him not to go there. 

 

What I do want is that either a cameo from the inquistor with solas and/or something like morrigan has in inquistion. Where she calls the warden her lover and husband if He came with the eluvian with her. I would be overjoyed if Solas said in DA4 that after he is acomplishing his goals he looks to reuniting with his love, Lavellan or even that Lavallen decides to follow Solas in his goals. 

 

This makes me wonder if Solas is the dread wolf and he eventually admits his love for Lavellan, would she become a goddess among the elves?
