Perhaps he regularly or rather casually summons spirits to help in combat and other situations?
That would be pretty cool to have in the game. I remember since I just finished the book a couple of days ago that in Asunder Rhys would summon a spirit for guidance. Maybe one of Solas's Skills will be where he can summon a spirit to help with the battle and maybe guidance too. ![]()

The question is if that's true is how are they going to separate necromancer mages and rift mages? If both had summoning capabilities, I would bring Solas, Dorian, and a Necromancer/Rift mage PC and summon a bunch of allies.....Actually you know what I would love it if that would happen. Mobile army of spirits, demons, and undead... I approve ![]()

That'd be like people making Varric beard mods.
I've seen those mods.
Needless to say, I'll burn my eyes out the same.

I just remembered Patrick weekes wrote Tali and she would summon Chatika when in battle now it will be funny if Solas does summon a spirit..... something to ponder right there. ![]()

So I'm surprised Solas is going to be a volunteer. I would have thought we would seek him out for his "expertise".

Well he is implied to be a traveler or just somebody who likes to be in not so busy places like villages. With that info it's unlikely that we would have ever heard of him, but you never know. ![]()

I thought he'd seek us out, but out of professional curiosity, not selflessness. What a bamf.

Well, mind you, two days ago all we knew about him was "expert on the fade". I had figured he might be one of those "well known in certain circles" type guys who we go looking for.

I get what your saying. There could be some areas that may know of his existence. Although it says he has never been in the circle, nor is he dalish, and he likes spending time in ruins or doing fade related research so I just do not find it unlikely.
Edit: Just remembered Patrick saying that he runs into Dalish travelers, I guess we could know from them if they wanted to spread information about him around.

Again, this was my preconception before the interview where we learned all that.
Hence my surprise.

This is one of those times where I thought I was being clever and it came around to bite me in the backside. I'm so sorry, Varric.
Though I wonder... Varric goes beardless, you think he really can say a damn thing about Solas going hairless? ![]()

Cole: Well, we're lost.
Solas: I'll just summon one of the local spirits and ask for directions (a green light swirls around Solas' hand)
Cole: (Fades out of existence and reappears in front of Solas) I have no idea where we are.
Solas: I don't know what I expected.

Mordin was essentially the analogue I was thinking. I suppose they didn't want to be that spot on with it, though. Especially considering they have the same writer.
