It's been a long time since I've actually logged onto the forums (Sometime shortly after DA2 came out.) and while I haven't finished my Solas romancing Knight-Enchanter yet (I spoiled myself on the ending and ended up starting a jerkquisitor to romance Dorian to repair my heart.) I have some theories but I also have a question about the quest with his friend.

Can you actually save the spirit or does it always end with its death? I have the perk that tells him I know how to break the binding but in the end I always keep having to kill the pride demon.Though now I REALLY want to know what a Remorse Demon looks like. If anything I suspect it being the "affably evil" sort of demon. You know, like a punch clock villain.

 

Now I have a crazy crackpot theory regarding Solas, the Elven Gods, the Black City Corphy and The Archy, and Flemeth.

In the comics with Yavana that not only are the dragons intelligent, but they have their own language. Also her comment about the blood of the dragons being the blood of the world. This makes me believe that the Old Gods, the ancient Great Dragons and the Queen of Dragons, are actually the good guys. What if it wasn't so much that the Old Gods were sealed by Maker, but rather they were betrayed instead? Along this lines it almost makes think the dragons themselves might have been responsible for the care of the world, or rather they were supposed to protect it as it is shown that the Old Gods are extremely powerful and I would assume the Queen of the Dragons is either as powerful or darn close to it. 

 

We know that Mythal was murdered - it was a betrayal by either the other Elven gods or the dark ones. I believe she was murdered because like the Dread Wolf she saw the madness/insanity/cruelty that had come to the elves they were supposed to protect. That said I do not think the elven gods are gods, but extremely powerful spirits or something to that effect. We known that a mortal soul can become a demon as the Baroness shows when she turned into a pride demon. It could be possible that the elven gods were originally just extremely powerful mages that found a way to ascend of sorts. However power tends to corrupt and all that.

 

So Mythal was murdered before she could help Solas/the Dread Wolf with whatever their original plan had been to protect/save the mortal elves. This is what drives him to seal the elven gods away since his friend (or whatever) was dead. It was all he could to prevent a huge tragedy. Because of how much power was required to seal them away it put him to sleep for a very long time.

 

Now in regards to the elven gods and the old gods/great dragons. I think they were rivals, or rather the dragons had tried to fight against the elven gods to prevent them from ruining the world even more so. But they lost and were put to sleep/sealed away. Without the Old Gods and Queen of Dragons to lead them anymore is what drove the high dragons and rest to become the feral aggressive monsters we know. And kill a lot. Poor girls. I think the Old Gods didn't know the Black City would corrupt the magisters when they told them how to get into the fade City. I think the city actually either had the means or the power to awaken the Old Gods. (As the dragon queen is already awake, though we don't ever see her.) and allow them to protect the world once again. Or at least protect it from whatever had actually sealed them away. Remember the dragons existed before the veil did.

 

Now we only have two old gods left - Razikale the Dragon of Mystery and Lusacan the Dragon of Night. Either way I see that at some point these two will both awaken and potentially be allies/the good guys in the next game. I also see a chance that they might go after Solas. After all, while he might have not been an evil elven god, the rest of them were pretty bad. Personally I think it will be a terrible mistake to free them again, and the dragons will try to stop that.

 

Anyway I really want to see the inquisitor (romanced Solas or not) go after Solas. Or a better twist (and the last two games gave us a quest/mission where the party has to save/rescue the pc. I want to see Solas freak out about his love being kidnapped) a rival/enemy of Solas/the Dread Wolf realizes how important the Inquisitor (and how powerful they have become) is to him and goes after them. After all if you can't hurt your enemy, you hurt what they care about. What better target than to be Solas's friend/lover? What if that being is Maker, or something like him that is an equal to his power. It wouldn't be the first time the Maker has pulled a jerk move. Though I would -love- to see parallels between the Maker and Andraste and Solas and the Inquisitor (romanced or not).

 

I do think that the Inquisitor being in danger (again) or nearly being killed being enough to bring Solas back to them.

 

Also remember the prophecies that Eleni Zinovia said in Origins/Witch Hunt.

 

I don't know, my husband is really sick of listening to my crackpot theories and whining about why did I have to pick the heartbreaking romance first.

 

Also I really want a happy ending, or at least an actual conclusion to the Solas romance. At the very least I want my elf to punch him in the face. She's a knight-enchanter, that's how they roll.

I suppose it all depends on how you define a deity. Often we tend to regard them as omnipotent, omnibenevolent and omnisence. The maker falls into this roll, well the omnipotent and omnisesence, omnibenevolent not so much. For what is a god or goddess? 

 

The elven gods could be immense powerful fade spirits and they still IMO would be gods. Of course a lavallen goddess in the same world state with Old god baby, means lots of new gods walking the earth

I think it is intentional. I guess having completed the Solas romance then being dumped with him, then completing a romance with another character, would complicate flags and plot-lines for Solas/Lavellan interaction in whatever future they have planned for DA:I (dlc expansions etc). They already have a complicated enough relationship situation without "and also I took another lover when you left" LOL

My initial reaction to his romance was mixed feelings, but the more I think of its potential and the depth of it, the more I like it.  I don't think Solas would leave her forever.  His greatest fear was dying alone, and in one of his scenes he expressed his fear of losing her (before going in for a kiss  ).  Turning Lavellan into a goddess figure would make for an amazing love story.

Someone mentioned something about sex with spirits (I feel weird typing that sentence but I'm literally just going through the Codex entries I have for hints/scraps about Fen'Harel, Mythal and the ancient elven gods/ancient elves, etc, and came across this).

 

There's a codex entry, Spirits and Demons, which says:

Of course it's written in the format of a sonnet and so there's no guarantee it is actually an event that happened in the history of Thedas, but it's interesting nonetheless to see something about relations between a human and a spirit.

Yes. They all get friendly with eachother. I didn't start getting it till near the end of the game though, and I ran with team Weekes the whole way through also.

They could already have a dlc or expansion they are already working on and had a bigger picture planned out.
So, we could get a sex scene later on. Something heartbreakingly romantic. Like "even if its just this once, I need you" kinda deal. Bonus points if its in the fade.

Seriously. I love poetry, and that's just so lovely and bittersweet~ rather like the Solas romance, actually.

As far as sex with spirits goes... well, "physical" people are as incorporeal as spirits in the Fade, and you can bang a Desire demon in Origins, so it's not like it doesn't happen. I figure if Solas gets so attached to spirits that he considers them his close friends and avenges their deaths, it's not all that weird that an inquisitive, open-minded, god knows how old elven god would.. experiment lol.

I really love that poem, though. I wonder if Solas, being some sort of amped up spirit whatever, is afraid of being corrupted? Or maybe he's too strong for that... ahh, in any case, every time I read that Solas's greatest fear is dying alone, I die a little inside. My poor babbu.

Oh my, the "you are so beautiful" line after watching him remove her vallaslin touched me so much.  That whole scene made me cry with the amazing voice acting, music, scenery, emotions...  .  Every single part of that scene was perfectly bittersweet.

 

Like the look in his eyes from desire to regret after their kiss.  Oh, the feels....          

 

Yeah, there are plenty of tears from this Solasmancer... lol
