So I was just doing the Measuring the Veil quest and wondered if anyone had a translation for what he says.

In the end to get Mihris to hand over the amulet he says "Ma halani, ma glandival. Vir enasalin."

And she just hands it over without argument. Wiki didn't seem to have most of those words. Any ideas?

I've always loved fighting with other mages. The havoc you create is pretty awesome. It also looks cool when I set Solas and my PC mage to cast Dispel on rift summoning circles- when I unpause they do it simultaneously. I pretend they practiced that. Other couples finish each other's sentences, Lavellas finishes each other's spells.

Same here. I love that a 4-mage party is actually viable this time. It's all constant barriers and tons of fire.

My Inquisitor cosplay in late January just got a whole lot easier since now I'm not gonna bother with trying to spend hours drawing vallaslin on my sunblocked face. LOL Just gonna get me some elf ears and I'm good to go as a post-romanced Lavellan.

 

I went and talked to Cole in Skyhold and got two interesting pieces of dialogue upon which he did not expouse any further upon or hint who he was referring to. These lines came from totally separate visits. Am curious what y'all think and/or if you think he may be referring to Solas in them:

Referring to Fen'Harel locking the other gods away?

 

"Never trust half an elf."

 

Referring to Solas being more than 'just an elf', so to speak?

 

Also, all this sex talk keeps reminding me of this little Dalish story about Fen'Harel and I crack up every time 

 

Fen'Harel and the tree 

 

"In the story, Fen'Harel was captured by the hunting goddess, Andruil. He had angered her by hunting the halla without her blessing, and she tied him to a tree and declared that he would have to serve in her bed for a year and a day to pay her back. But as she made camp that night, the dark god Anaris found them, and Anaris swore that he would kill Fen'Harel for crimes against the Forgotten Ones. Andruil and Anaris decided that they would duel for the right to claim Fen'Harel.

 

He called out to Anaris during the fight and told him of a flaw in Andruil's armor just above the hip, and Anaris stabbed Andruil in the side, and she fell. Then Fen'Harel told Anaris that he owed the Dread Wolf for the victory and ought to get his freedom. Anaris was so affronted by Fen'Harel's audacity that he turned and shouted insults at the prisoner, and so he did not see Andruil, injured but alive, rise behind him and attack with her great bow. Anaris fell with a golden arrow in his back, badly injured, and while both gods slumbered to heal their wounds, Fen'Harel chewed through his ropes and escaped."

Guys... guys... I think I figured out how my Lavellan is gonna make him pay her back for all this heartache if she ever manages to hunt him down.

So, I went back into the game to re-examine some things. Has anyone else noticed that in the Characters section of the Codex, the picture on Lavellan's card is a stag? Is every Inquisitor's a stag or is it different depending on race?

I really enjoy the imagery as Lavellan as a stag and Solas as a wolf!

 

 

It would be so cool if Lavellan [or even the Inquisitor in general] is the stag. I gave my girl the halla markings, and always imagined her family had been halla keepers. If only there was a halla mount!

I'm kind of proud that I wrote a fanfiction story back in Origins days called The Wolf at the Edge of Camp (smutty Alistair-Dalish mage story, it's on ffnet if anyone's interested, though I don't claim it's anything great). I was fumbling around quite a bit, but trying to explore Dalish metaphysics and the idea of a lonely figure who stands between worlds. I'm so pleased that Bioware's expanding on this lore.

Enasalin is probably either enasal (withstand loss yadda yadda) + in (inside) or it could also be ena (emerge) + sa (one) + lin (blood). Not sure about halani - hala means end, though. And I have absolutely no idea about glandival.

Sounds rather like he's saying, "It's over/I'm ending it, my glandival. Find a new way to endure these feelings of loss."

Ehehe just guessing.

That's a good guess,considering how little we know about the elven language in DA.Solas speaking it fluently makes it twice as interesting!

Solas says something to the Dalish woman? In mine, Levallan said that. She adds something like "must I also endure opposition from my own people? I could use what you found."

 

Edit: Oh, I remember- under the Special options, I chose the elf one instead of asking Solas to comment. I wanted my PC to assert tribal privilege to get him what he wanted, lol.

 

Incidentally I've heard from others that in this quest the Dalish elf is sometimes Merrill. It was random female Dalish in my game.

The harts are a type of halla. The red hart halla is in the deluxe edition. Horns are more moose like than twisted though.

I believe they said that was a typo, unfortunately. Harts are just a different kind of stag. Still cool! But probably not as super intelligent as a halla.
