Hello everyone!!

I need help   

I think I have this problem romancing Solas?? This might be long so I appreciate if anyone actually reads it/has any tips (NO SPOILERS PLEASE!!!). I am an elven female mage (pretty much the best combo anyway) so I know I can romance him. I got his first 2 companion quests (just finished, "All new, Faded for Her") and always use the romance heart option when available but now I cannot get the final quest from him (think it is called "what Lies Dormant")? In "All New" I saved his "friend" and let him kill the dudes there (he approved) then we had our romance moment on balcony but then he pulled away and said it would better in the long run?? Even though I chose the option NOT to break it off? Now I essentially have no more dialogue options for him.
 

I should add that I didn't talk to him for a while at Haven bc I didn't want to do the whole romance thing anyway- everytime I spoke to him though he 'alight approved' or 'approve' and only 'slight disapproved' once. Whew! Thanks and sorry for this essay!

mortal woman and male god lovers is a bit cliche'. Eh, whatever, lol. It's not unknown in Thedas either. I come back to the Andraste x Maker match as a parallel. To me it's more interesting, not that he's a god, but that we don't yet know what that means in this context. He doesn't even seem to know, at least from his comments about Mythal. The mortal helping the god discover his nature is a nice twist.

I'm avoiding the forums so keep everything spoiler free until I am done playing, but I had to pop in and say that first romance scene with Solas, unbelievably sweet and he was so surprising forward that my jaw dropped. I am really excited for the next one. But on top of all that, the game has been extraordinary. The story, the characters, I am super happy even with some crashes.

I wondered about this as well. Do you think he's talking about her changing his plans/ motivations? Lavellan catches his interest, so perhaps "you changed everything" means the reason he's staying with the inquisition is now tied to her, so he's no longer there just to

As for "felt the whole world change," I thought he was talking more about the feeling of the magic involved in closing the rifts, as well as the implications of having someone with that ability.

Lavellan: "Nothing is more important than helping those in need!"

 

Solas: "Vhenan, I believe it is more important to save the world, we do not need to have a competition on who can bring back the most nugs!"

Solas: "Vhenan, do you really think now is the time to...? Our worries are overwhelming, I do not think that we should engage in such action now-"

Solas: "I understand your anger...but we should focus on the battle..."

Lavellan: "Pull me another drink, Bull! Let us forget these asses that we cannot tap!"

Solas: "You must harden your heart, Inquisitor. Now is not the time to ask Varric to write a...story for you. He should better train for our biggest fight."
Lavellan: "I can't hear you over the sound that my breaking heart makes! If I want smutty stories, I get smutty stories."

Solas: "...why are you just sitting around in Skyhold? Why do you talk to so many people each day? You have gotten quite fat, too, Inquisitor."

Solas: "...listen, Inquisitor, we really have to fight Corypheus now! It is the most important fight in our lives, we should-"
Lavellan: "Nah, not happening. We wanted to play another game of Wicked Grace today. Saving the world can wait."

I JUST SPENT ALMOST TWO HOURS WANDERING AROUND WITH SOLAS AND SERA TO GET THIS*. Not sure if you meant the banter or the comment in her room, but here's the banter:
 

(Obviously, I didn't choose the "[laugh]" option; I'm not sure what happens with that. :U My Lavellan has tried to get along with Sera, but, uh. It has not worked yet. I don't think it ever will.)

 

* I took Sera and Solas on an elf-only field trip to the Emerald Graves/Exalted Plains. No one enjoyed it. :| Those two places seem to be where I get the most banter, though. Or I'm imagining it.

That final scene. The environment, the music, the facial expressions, the writing and voice acting. Just...it tugs at my every feel.

 

I want to do another play through with a different romance but...I feel like Solas is my favorite Subway sandwich. The first time I had it, it was so amazing but I wanted to see if there was a sandwich even better. When I made the new sandwich and tasted it...instant regret. It wasn't as good as my original and nothing will compare. So, I feel like if I try to romance someone else, I'll just be like "YOU ARE NOT SOLAS! YOU CAN NEVER FILL THE VOID!"

Solas painted them! If you climb the ladder in his room, there's a note about it. c: (...Unless I made that up/dreamed it up, but I'm pretty sure it's true?)

So, I looked on the wiki to translate "Ar lath ma, vhenan".  Am I right in that it means "You are my love, [my] heart"???

 

I need to brush up on my Dragon Age lore... Solas (and DA: I) definitely sparked a big interest for me  .

"Ar" is a personal pronoun meaning I or me. Lath = love, my = me or mine. So I think it's more like "I love my heart", with the comma perhaps "I love [you], my heart".

 

Also I loved the comments a few pages back about Solas's fashion sense LOL. Solas thread is best thread.

 

CENIC, here's how my Lavellan reacted to that choice:

No, she doesn’t him. I believe that he’s telling the truth (and what an epic mindblowing revelation it was! Wow! Yeahhh that was awesome) but she doesn’t want to. She angrily tells him that it’s bullshit and that he’s a smartass, lmao. And even if he is speaking the truth, they are inescapably a part of her just like her battlescars are - from the events that led to her getting them. And they have meaning to Dalish culture now. They identify her as Dalish, they identify which god she honors most, they identify her as an adult. Gryff is a proud Dalish, even with everything Solas challenges her about them on (they argued a lot over that stuff) and although she looks to and respects the past (elven history) she is inescapably a creature of the present. She’s stubborn like that. In addition, the Dalish have been mistaken about what they mean - and she wears her mistakes proudly, doesn’t hide them. In a way they’re as much a mistake as her battlescars are - didn’t duck quick enough here, shouldn’t have engaged this enemy there, etc. She’s not interested in a quick easy fix and embraces her imperfections. In the final battle Cory told her, look at you, proudly wearing the marks of a slave! Hell yes she wears them proudly Corypheus, she’s Gryff and she’s going to make you choke on those words. I’m certain on the keeping vallaslin choice.

Also I've decided he either waxes his head, or he's just naturally bald. It's way too shiny to be shaved! His brows are, what, auburn? Brown? I can't teeelllll.

I think it's got to be something about the change that Morrigan and Flemeth keeps talking about, and Sandal's "when the magic will come back" statement.

After you open a rift and fall through into the Fade, Solas comments emphatically about how amazing it is and NO ONE'S EVER DONE THIS BEFORE SINCE THE MAGISTERS. So I feel like the writers are screaming that something about the Inquisitor's ability to manipulate the Fade and move back and forth is really important. Sort of like the Dreamers.
 
Speaking of those, I was hoping we'd see or hear about Feynriel. But I guess it's only been a few years and that could happen down the line if/when we get to Tevinter.

In the end to get Mihris to hand over the amulet he says "Ma halani, ma glandival. Vir enasalin."

And she just hands it over without argument. Wiki didn't seem to have most of those words. Any ideas?

We don't know what halani or glandival is but "Ma" is me or mine, "Vir" is way or path and "enasal" is to be grateful for being able to withstand loss (I assume -in is a suffix)
