I'm replaying now and will be paying great attention to everything Solas says.

Did you know he can do healing magic? Gameplay/story segregation at work. ;) If you ask him how he stopped the mark from killing you in the Prologue he says it was healing magic and minor wards.

I feel like they're trying to encourage players to play the female elf and romance Solas because it could be a big part of the story or something? Kinda like with Morrigan and the Warden or Alistair and the Warden.

He does have a good amount of cutscene time in Cole's content, though.

He does and I like that :D ....but still he has less cutscenes and conversations than the other companions...very sad. Solas is my top favorite DA character still though.

And just think, without the romance he'd have practically nothing... Not a good way to endear people to your character sadly when everyone else has so much going for them. My hopes is that they're saving it all for DLC, but... Yeah...

Even during production it sort of felt like Solas was the "forgotten child"... which is hysterical considering how large a role he actually plays.

But he was not seen much (or always last) in marketing and even the tweets focused more around, for example, Iron Bull (who comes off as the "favorite child", IMO) and a lot of the others.

Granted, some of that is likely due to him being super spoiler content if you're not careful, but still. It felt that way leading up to the game, and seems to pan out about the same when it comes to in-game cinematics and whatnot. Which, what's there is outstanding. It just seems very little compared to others. Even compared to, say, Cullen... an advisor... who was the other "late" romance addition.

The snail, bringing up the rear. :pinched: I am taking forever (by choice though, so it's all good ;) ). I will however, be finishing out Haven today. *nods!*

I do have a question though, that isn't exactly Solas related. It has to do with those interjection dialogue options. They are basically like a QTE - being timed and all. My problem is I have rather crappy eye-sight. By the time my eyes focus enough to read the text, POOF my time is up.

Is there a "pattern" to these dialogue options? Like, the left side is always more direct or angry, and the right is always more diplo and/or charming? (just as an example.) If there is a pattern, then I can just choose the "emotional" response, I feel is fitting for my PC, and not worry about reading the text. So far, I have had two of these; the first I missed completely, because I didn't know it was being timed. And the second, I just clicked something so as to at least get SOME content and use, out of those dialogue options. LOL! I got lucky though, since it seemed fitting enough for my PC, in that moment.

I have exhausted all my dialogue options with Solas, and have flirted with him when allowed. But one question:

Spoiler

Thanks in advance, to anyone wanting to help this old tortoise out. ;)

Wait...what?  There's timed dialogue? I haven't seen any, or maybe I'm just especially decisive lately with my current mood and all. But I don't remember anything like that...

[/quote]

 At least I "assume" those certain dialogue moments are timed, since the first one I got, I was only half way reading through the text, and then the wheel just disappeared. :P The sad thing was, it was triggered by something Solas said, right after getting into Redcliffe Village, for the first time. Oh! And I did miss another one, with one of the elves, mussing around the village.

Hopefully I can figure out, if there is a pattern.

As for the Solas question, do you remember if this is something I should be concerned with? Am I over thinking? *chuckle* Probably am.

*EDIT* BAH! Quote catastrophy!

It would have been cute if there was a cutscene where the inquisitor faked a broken arm or something just to see solas :3

Eh, there's a side benefit to that. You picked him before he was cool. ;)

I already decided I was going to romance whoever the male elven character was before they even announced DAI :3

I don't mind him dumping her. It's the most realistic, anyway. Sometimes you just get dumped, for a good reason, or for no good reason, and it's the end of the damn world, until it isn't. I sort of like the story idea of a God come to earth and falls in love with a mortal and it's so very tragic and intense and..you know. It's very Greek.  That always ends bad. :)

coldwetn0se, I'm not 100% sure but I think it's rather like it was in DA2... that is, the top option is the nice, diplomatic one, the second is usually snarky (or at least wry lol), and the bottom option is usually blunt. It's not as exaggerated as it was in DA2 though, and I really have no idea if it applies to the banter interjection moments as I haven't gotten any of those yet.

 Okay....now I am starting to wonder if I have a "bug" then. LOL! I am getting the impression, that this whole "interrupt" style dialogue, isn't/hasn't happened for others now. Dammit! With my pathetic eyes, this would be the bug that I get. HAHAHA!

Thanks for the info though. Much obliged. ;)

Have a biscuit. Shortbread. :)

Being so in love with my Solas playthrough now, I've decided to delete and completely restart it with my canon DAO/DA2 keep save imported (I switched my saves up for variety, but there is no way this is not becoming my canon playthrough).  I'm only ten hours in so no big whoop; I like to scour every crumb of every quest when it's on my main run.

It really is hysterical sadly, since next to the advisers and Cassandra he plays the biggest roll in the story - albeit from the shadows. I can understand why he wasn't given more exposure in the marketing hype for the game, as like you said they'd have to be SUPER careful about what was said in order to protect his eventual reveals from coming out too soon, but in terms of actual gameplay content? It's rather sad. I have to wonder what would have happened if they didn't have that extra year... Would he have had almost nothing at all? It's rather sad to think about, the same goes for Cullen as well. As much as I also love Bull and understand why he was the marketing darling along with Cassandra and Varric, I really don't see why he should have gotten more content than a character who was so integral to both this and the next part of the story. Ah well, no use crying over it, and I wouldn't wish lesser content on Bull's fans either.

He does have a good amount of cutscene time in Cole's content, though.

Holy crap! Sable????

Hah I didn't say it's my favorite ending, only that it's a realistic one and I don't particularly mind the angst. Something about a tragic, forbidden romance just seems very...piquant.

Is it just me, or does Solas barely blink? I'm going through my screenshots and I don't think I've gotten a single one of him with derpy half closed eyes.  Levallan and Lelianna on the other hand... :l
