And yes, I noticed that last night.

 

*waves*  Hi!  I finally got over my BSN exhaustion with the release of DA:I.  Trying to avoid spoilers, though I'm torn between coming here and squeeing, and hiding in the darkest cave I can find.  Oh well, I'm already spoiled for some stuff.

I have a question:

I've just gotten Solas' final romance scene, and I talked to him about it in Skyhold - his "harden your heart" comments are ridiculous for my Lavellan specifically, she's a soft-hearted lil baby, but whatever Solas, whatever. I know there's a banter with Cole, and I know the postcredits scene because I spoiled myself for it but I don't know the actual ending of the game. I do know the final romance scenes though. And I know Solas evidently vanishes during the final mission or something. Dunno how.

 

Now, I know OTHER romances get a scene on the balcony after everything's over. Do Solasmancers get anything from him now in the story? Like, a line at the final battle? A mention? I know there's no more Scenes but please tell me I get at least a line or something.

If I recall, once the final battle is over and shortly before he disappears, Solas will say something like "know that what we had was real." But that's it as far as I know.

Pretty much the same for me, I didn't noticed that dialogue and my Lavellan did eventually come to at least somewhat like Sera enough to call her a friend, but if she had been told that? Yeah... She'd have never spoken to Sera again. I'm hoping my Trevelyan playthrough will help me appreciate Sera because after interacting with her with my Lavellan I honestly can say i really don't ever want to bother with her again...

I had no idea it would be referenced in dialogue... by baddies, Josie, Sera... maybe other people lol? I wonder what would happen if vallaslin-less Lavellan ever saw her clan again, only now she's bare-faced. I can't imagine they'd be too thrilled! She must be the first Dalish in all of history to go in for tattoo removal...

Also, am I the only one whose heart breaks at Cole's words? "She is bare-faced, embarrassed, and she doesn't know. She thinks it's because of her." The way he phrases it is so painfully intimate jfc, it's like she's naked.

Rambling about Dalish things:

I wonder what her clan would think about removing the vallaslin if they didn't know the truth, is it like being a bare faced Turian? That moment when Solas removes it and Lavellan slowly opens her eyes is so intense especially if she has a lot of facial scars, it makes her seem quite raw and naked. If she's a very proud dalish imagine how she feels when Solas just up and leaves after he essentially removed one of her strongest ties to her clan which is now scattered. She's lost a lot of her links to her people (unless she drinks from the well I guess). This whole romance arc sullied the ending for me because all her followers were so happy and optimistic about the future and I was watching the end scenes like 'EVERYTHING HURTS AND I'M DYING'

I just headcanon that Solas is very secretive with his relationship with Lavellan. Sera may be obnoxious, but she notices a lot, so it's no wonder that she would put two and two together, even if it's only for fun.

I think Solas and Lavellan have the luxury of being very private with their relationship because he can just... pop into her head basically whenever he wants, lol.

About her opening her eyes being very intense - this bit almost made me wish I had given my Lavellan vallaslin that covered more of her face! She had the under-eye wing-like symbols. I'm picky with facial tattoos and almost made them near-transparent, I'm glad I didn't. Although her without vallaslin was still A Lot for me to look at. She looks more grown-up now.

The vallaslin from what I remember are a right of passage into adulthood and the process of putting them onto one's face is highly steeped in ceremony and tradition, where the applicant cannot even make a sound lest they prove themselves unworthy of having them. I really, really can't see her clan - as open to new ideas as they're presented as - taking well to learning what they originally were or that she no longer has them. Many would argue Solas was lying and she was weak for listening to him, or that regardless of what they used to mean they have importance to the Dalish culture now. I don't foresee many, save the Keeper possibly as I've always felt they knew more than they let on as keepers of the history, taking kindly to it.

I've actually had the same, I doubt it's a bug. It's the banters you can pipe in on, the first I had was in the prologue when Solas asks about you being dalish. I was still reading the options when it cut me off and he said something along the lines of "Silence, then? Very well."
Reloaded to get the chance to actually reply, but it's made me paranoid about answering quickly in the banter-style conversations.

THAT'S IT! THAT was the one that I first got as well, and I missed it for the same reasons. Hell, it took me nearly two seconds just for my blasted eyes to focus on the text, then I start reading and *poof!* Gone. I didn't reload, since I was unsure if it would repeat. Dammit!! I should have reloaded. LOL! Curse my self.

Well, unless they decide to extend the amount of time, it is on the screen, I think I will be SOL. /head-desk. *chuckle*
