So... I have a Trevelyan that wasn't getting along with Solas for a while, and in the interest of scientific curiosity, I decided to poke at him a bit:

Asking him if he cares about anything other than the Fade:

Solas: How many would listen? Most of the poor and oppressed do not want to work to improve their condition. They want only comfort, an affirmation that they are good for being poor and oppressed. I might reach a few, at most. But... you are right. That is more than I reach doing nothing. I suppose I am just tired of fighting.

Somewhat offtopic, but I was wondering why I haven't been able to get any of the cool Solas banter people have been getting in this thread and the spoiler thread, and apparently there's a banter bug that makes it so that you get very few banters while you're playing. They're looking into it though! Seems like it's affecting quite a few people, so if you're one of them, you might wanna post in this thread just so they can collect more information: http://forum.bioware...k-at-it/page-17

For the 50+ hours I've played, I've only gotten 6 banters total :/

Wolves mate for life. This actual fact makes me believe that he will come back to her. Eventually.

 

Though you would have to think, since Corphy is around and the Archy (I believe he's alive no matter the option to picked) is similar enough to him. There has to be other magisters from the same event around.

I can see an enemy/rival power that wants to stop or make Solas pay realizing his attachment/love for the Inquisitor and using/harming them to get back at him. I mean if I was a villain with a bone to grind against the wolf I would go for whatever weakness I can find. A mortal lover that can be killed (or worse - I can imagine a really spiteful being knowing a 1000 tortures that would make death seem like a mercy. If Mythal has her fountain it wouldn't be hard to believe that the Forgotten Ones have them too.

 

I can picture an agent of theirs torturing Lavellan so badly that the memories are quite vivid and easy to find in the Fade. And they were left there on purpose for Solas to find. After all, wolves mate for life and I won't believe that he would at the very least check on her from time to time. Could you imagine his response/horror to finding a memory of her bloody, broken, and tortured. Just to be healed and repeated over and over again. For extra effect and heartbreak having a demon (I could see Remorse or a Despair demon that focuses on broken hearts) wear his face and be the one harming her.

 

I fully admit that I have sick mind and really want a post game mission (like the last games had them) that has the party members trying to rescue the inquisitor from something. Let the LIs, regardless if they are a party member or not join in.

 

But seriously, imagine the look on Solas's face if/when he finds a severely beaten and tortured inquisitor LI. The feels.

These conversations remind me of Zevran, who also had some amazingly scathing comments for wardens he wasn't fond of (especially if you had low approval and tried to romance him). I can't believe it, but I think Solas and Zevran are tied for my favorite Bioware characters, now. I never though anyone would match Zev

Solas: Who would I attack? A gate guard? What if he felt sorry for the poor knife-ears under his watch? Or the lord who rules the city? Would his death at an elven apostate's hands lead to better treatment for elves? There is no simple solution. I think you know that. Why attack me for knowing it as well?

Thanks both of you. I've been running on little sleep since DAI came out. Solasmance left me crying so much (and I didn't even finish that playthrough) that I restarted with a human female bow rogue to romance Cullen.

 

I'll play another Dalish later but I'm torn on doing a mage (again because I fell in love with Knight-Enchanter and I enjoyed playing a dalish elf that was just way too kind, caring, and self sacrificing for this wolrd) or doing a dalish warrior to see his response to her becoming a templar.

 

I do miss Blood Mage spec. I -always- played with a blood mage spec and since your companions now comment on it I would loved to have seen everyone's responses to a blood mage.

And I have seriously been driving myself insane thinking about what in the world is going to happen with him in future games! They won't just leave the story arc, right? They obviously set up for something further with his character...

 

I'm just afraid they might sort of butcher his character from the romanced perspective. I don't know how many of you have played Mass Effect, but something that really upset me was the way that Thane's romance and the insights it gave into his character's personality in ME2 were totally ignored (for the most part) in ME3. It broke my heart more than anything else that happened...

 

I'd like to believe that the DA writers are not going that same route. I would be sad if they some how made Solas into this villain-ish character in future games that shows very little memory of the relationship he had with Lavellan. That would crush my heart. </3

 

I feel like I need to play through with all different types of characters and interact with Solas to get a better idea of what will be most likely to occur with his character in future games. Obviously, if there's an aspect that only those who romanced him got to see, it's less likely to appear in future installments, and that frightens me.

I do and I don't. On the one hand, I want so badly to know more about them and the culture of Arlathan. On the other, most of them were apparently bastards.

Wow I didn't realize me posting about the whole spirit Cole solas levellan thing would be a thing. I don't even know if Cole actually says anything about it, someone on another thread said they heard Cole say something that seemed like he was talking about Solas.
I think most of you guys get a little to carried away, the whole game doesn't center around Solas and Levellan, though it should. There are other races and romances.
With the whole reincarnation thing, it's not like levellan IS some spirit Solas was in love with, more like she either posseses a similar spirit/soul to what the actual spirit was. Or, she has that spirit/soul inside her. Blah blah probably not true at all. I think Bioware isn't that creative.
I feel like the fans come up with better ideas/lore than the devs do sometimes. Well, not bashing them, not that there lore isn't great because it is, I mean like we kinda go more in depth and look at it from different angles.
