Yeah if it turns out that the scene was indeed "Flemeth killed by Solas" no way she's properly dead imo

 

1) she's flemeth come on

2) DA staple

3) immensely powerful

4) probably has like 9067 horcruxes scattered across thedas

He just seems so sad and hopeless in that scene. I'm terrified that he might just have given up and let Flemeth possess him for whatever reason. I know he said something about his people needing him, but...I dunno. Everyone seems so sure that Bioware wouldn't get rid of Flemeth like that.

That would be a really sh*tty way to end a romance.

 

Maybe it's possible that he's not dead, and Flemeth's soul lives through him in addition to his own (kind of like the OGB who I guessed had 2 souls?).  That way Flemeth isn't gone, but neither is Solas.  God, I sound like I'm in denial but I'd hate for it to just end like that.

He puts them up thereafter after each main quest I think, starting from the right of the door that leads up to Dorian and Leliana and moving right from there. I posted screenshots of them in order a few pages back, I'll go look for them

You think he looks evil in that scene? I thought the general consensus was that he isn't evil, though his plans for the world might end up being destructive. In the stinger he doesn't look evil, he looks broken.

 

And I get the sense that the majority of people were pleasantly surprised by Solas, and that the biggest thing everyone wants to know is wtf is up with that ending.

they make him look sort of evil with the glowing eyes and overly dramatic music and all, but I certainly didn't think he was evil. I'm just concerned others who didn't romance him might think so. But I'd be really happy if they didn't! That would make it more likely that he might be a more ambigous "villain" in future games (assuming he does go the route of trying to save the elves for the greater good but being ultimately destructive).

I have a feeling Flemeth isn't truly dead. She was clever enough to give Hawke the amulet as a backup in case Morrigan had her killed, its possible she has another backup somewhere that has just enough she can recover (but be weaker) later. 

But I don't see Solas as the type to give up. If our inquisitor would have died he would have still researched for an answer hoping to find one before the breach reached him. He's got a goal and he's already done way too much to achieve it to give up now. 'sides, he still has to set things straight.

Oh you're absolutely right, there is a way to do it easily. But whether or not it will be well received by those who didn't romance him is another story. And sadly, the opinion of the masses is a real part of what influences what ultimately ends up in future installments.

As mentioned here earlier, many people clearly believe the stinger scene was Solas being taken over by Flemeth. I'd like to pretend Bioware is trying to make him look evil so they can surprise everyone when he's not, but that's probably wishful thinking.

If we place his character on the alignment system he's more Chaotic or True Neutral than good or evil. its unlikely bioware is going to make him actually evil. They may be trying to highlight the bad to give us the most impact at the end and make us want more. If he was shown being all cuddly and good and everything was sunshine and rainbows it would be no fun.

I am so happy to hear someone else believe that! I honestly thought something similar, but I worry that sometimes my wishful thinking gets in the way of reality. >.< So good to know others think that too! (keeping in mind I'm posting in a Solas-specific thread...)

The problem that I'm having with the Solas as Villain thing (even a morally ambiguous one) is that he IS super-cuddly! Is it just because I romanced him? He hates people who prey upon the weak. He always thinks through all of the implications of an action and strives to follow the most moral path, while acknowledging that there are no easy answers. He doesn't strike me as a "for the greater good" type of person, at least not in the way Anders was. He was horrified by the breach. It caused damage to beings on both sides of the fade, and in the stinger you can see that he was barely keeping his grief over having caused it in check. Solas just doesn't strike me as antagonist material.

 

Perhaps he's trying to bring back the elven gods to undo his mistake, and his regret over having sealed them away in the first place is blinding him to the problems bringing them back might cause. Perhaps we'll be able to reason with him, show him that there's another way to save the elves.

Hi everyone! I'm new here, and I was just wondering what the general etiquette is for posting fanfiction around the community. I'm currently working on a fairly large project that I would appreciate some support with (with Solas, of course, featuring as a romantic figurehead).

I don't know if creating a completely new thread with the story would be seen as "bragging" or something of that nature, so I'm really hesitating to do it. I've got it posted on FFnet and Archive of Our Own, but I'm looking for other places to post as well. Thought the Bioware forums might be a good place to go searching. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I find it hard to imagine Solas as an antagonist, I mean.. he's a powerful being and a skilled mage, but what would he do? Bind an army of spirits / demons to his command to try and fight the people who are trying to stop him? I don't think he'd do such a thing, he's so against binding spirits in the game.

Alright, I just had a thought.

Let's say that Solas' goal is to free the Elven Pantheon. And let's say he succeeds. However, I think we all understand by now that sometimes, the elven gods aren't exactly.... Nice, per say. In this hypothetical situation, what will they do? What will Solas do?

 

It is in my opinion that the elven gods will punish our favourite Pajama elf. Maybe even kill him. That is not a nice prospect. But I think that Solas would see it as a way to atone for his mistakes. Maybe he'll see it as a way to finally make things right. He did say that "he should pay the price".

 

But anyways, just wanted to get that out there.

 

On an unrelated note, does anyone have any pictures of Abelas? Cause I can't find any.

I agree with you! I just wonder if others who didn't really spend much time with his character would agree. (and being someone who now can't physically bring herself to create anything but a female elf inquisitor, I will probably never be able to understand what other players think). But it does seem like, from postings from people who did make him into more of a "rival" character, he retains that sort of "everything is more complicated than good and evil" sort of attitude. Which I like to think is promising for what they'll do with his character in the future.  /crosses fingers

I don't think they'd kill off the character we just met, plus you can't just reveal that he was the fricking DREAD WOLF and then just kill him so quickly. That would be completely lame, especially after all the build-up we've gotten regarding the legends of the Dread Wolf.

after saving the wolves from the demon I was side questing along and after a while I noticed that the wolves weren't attack me any more, they sometimes even helped! I know Solas said they'd be grateful but I wasn't expecting that

 

I'm in danger of falling back into Skyrim habits; there's a part of me that believes if I just jump hard enough I can get to the top of the hill.

make it look like the "dread wolf" isn't dead but has been possessed by Flemeth's (or Mythal's) spirit so he (Solas) is not really responsible for his actions anymore?

I don't think he would ever be a direct oppositional character. If they play the long game, then I imagine he would appear randomly throughout the story and have a similar role to Morrigan. Just his end motives would be antagonistic to ours. 

 

If it is a DLC type solution, we'll probably have to stop him [or attempt to stop him] from freeing the elven gods. I have a feeling that they will be freed no matter what- its just too good of a plot line to use, and Dragon Age needs a steady flow of calamities. What I would like is if maybe we can stop Solas from doing it himself, and but perhaps have it come too late. Or have a third party, such as Flemeth, break them free if Solas backs down.
