Speaking of new artwork...
okay ya'll know I'm always up to doodling something so that wasn't a good transition...
...but I was trying to brighten up a screen-shot to see what Solas wears in his vest/ sash/ belt thing (AKA MY FAVORITE OUTFIT yaassssssss) and it looks like he has some sort of knife...

I mean, I don't know really what to say other than a knife is useful (and that jaw bone thing still looks like a jaw bone thing) but would you agree it's a knife or something-something else? I horrendously upped the contrast in the pic but... ... what the heck is that?

I must know for draw sake!!!

Regarding the knife, Solas has one outfit where he's wearing an animal skin. It's probably easier to just find an animal and skin it himself than going back to civilization to shop. Plus as protection/determent since I suspect he'd want to use magic as a last resort.

I don't know if it's a knife. Do you mean the shiny metal thing? When I was messing around with the other picture, I thought it was a belt buckle.

Yeah, it looks like something is off. But it doesn't exactly look like a belt either.

Yeah, the shiny thing! I always drew it as a simple belt in the past, but now that I've lightened it it looks like one of those hunting knives you put in a leather holder thingeh. (my vocabulary is failing me tonight) I mean, I find it a strange place to put it, but I guess every part of his body is prime real estate (HON HON HON) when he's carrying around his life. I think of MGS3 and how The Joy/ Snake had a knife on their chest.

OK. I see what you mean. It does look like the knife Ispan posted, but I think it might just be one of those weird visual stretching/compacting things that happen to skins when characters bend in certain ways. But it would be cool if it were a knife.

I feel like the 'it is a mystery' ghost is appropriate right about now.
Yeah, I mean, why not have your knife on your like that if your backpack is full of more important things? (Unless that's actually a REALLY BAD place to put a knife and I just don't know it. Other then the possibility of it being uncomfortable if he rolled over in his sleep.)

Baggier pants or Solas will forever be stuck in his 'all the fur' outfit as I JUST coined it. Who am I kidding? I'll be tempted by the tight pants.
But it's cool that we can cross eunuch off the list of 'thing Solas might be', right next to ancient elf and necromancer. Cause, yanno, it's just as important.

Mordin was essentially the analogue I was thinking. I suppose they didn't want to be that spot on with it, though. Especially considering they have the same writer.

Oh yeah! I forgot PW also wrote Mordin. Even more excited for Solas now.

Random question alert!

 

How are you guys pronouncing his name?  So-lahs, Sol-us, So-less, So-liss?  It occurred to me that I've been saying "So-liss" but I'm not certain that's proper pronunciation & is probably a Mordin thing I need to shake.

(the 'as' is not always pronounced with the hard A)
