I picked the "I love you" option and it broke my heart </3

 

As did I, my dear, as did I. And, as I like to describe it, it crushed my heart into a million tiny little pieces. I really don't think I've ever experienced as many different emotions at the same time as I did during that scene.

If I'm being honest, I was angry at Bioware for making the romance at all (since it was added near the end) because I felt like I didn't get the "happy ending" everyone else did (and let me point out, I don't mean "sexual"). And then it switched after the ending to sort of pure shock and immense disbelief because it just really did blow my mind that he was Fen'Harel. That hit me out of no where. And just seeing him so conflicted, I just wanted to help him! BUT I COULDN'T AND IT WAS SO FRUSTRATING. 

So, to sum up: anger, shock, amazement, appreciation, and frustration. But there's some happy mixed in there too. GAAAAAHHHHH. Dammit Bioware. Don't you dare mess this up in the future. That is all.

I just talked to him and it went into a cutscene where he's trying really hard to drink tea (he hates it  ).

 

If you don't have high enough approval then just go through his dialogue wheel and ask all of the questions. He's such a nerd that his approval goes up every time you ask.  

Did that in Haven, he hasn't had anything besides Corypheus to talk about.

First of all, I will agree with you 100%. After he broke up with me, I was in shock for a good ten minutes. My hubby turned to me and asked if I was OK because I'd gone completely silent from fangirl mode. 

 

Suddenly, I felt like I was going to cry. No joke. But yeah...

 

Second - where did you find out that he was the wolf? I've had my suspicions, but I wasn't sure.

doing some quests for the people of the crossroads helps too (food, Potion for the one lady, Blankets, finding a healer and letting him talk her into going)

I don't remember having any cutscenes. I think when I first got Skyhold I must have had decent approval with him since I had already asked everything and I let Cole stay. I did conscript the mages though and execute Alexius which might have hit him hard early on.

 

I did Dorian's quest in the tavern early and he said I was his friend, but I haven't had any scenes with him since then. The only characters I have had scenes with consistently throughout my PT is the advisors, Varric, Sera and Cole.

 I see what you mean about playing along so he can break the slave tattoos to her. He thinks telling her the truth is like one last gift. (My Lavellan kept the tattoos, Dalish power! Mudblood and proud! I don't know where I was going with that :-\) 

Still, he definitely was leading her on. I mean it couldn't have been "Let's not go to a place that will make you think you're finely getting a smexy scene but instead go talk somewhere private but less romantic. Okay, so I love you and want to share some heartbreaking information with you. Yes, those are slave marks and yes I just made you play the whole game with slave marks. But I didn't share this to cause you pain, I'll cause you pain another way. It's over between us, but I love you. I didn't mean to hurt you, but went into this relationship knowing it would end up hurting you. I don't want to distract you from your work, regardless of the fact there's nothing more distracting then a recent and painful break up. Shhh, it's okay, I'm not going to explain any of this to you, but it's for your own good. I'll tell you later, but I won't actually. Oh BTW, this is our last real conversation. I don't like goodbyes and much rather put you through the pain and duress of being abandoned. And no cheating and using Cole to find me-- forget Cole, forget!"

I'd watched the post-credits scene by the time I hit the Temple of Mythal, so seeing the Fen'Harel statues and hearing him get all defensive to Morrigan about it I was like. "Yeah. Yeah you WOULD be defensive."

here is a question, more related to the elven gods. If hypothetically they were something like powerful spirits, why do others regard that as not making them also deities? Why couldn't powerful spirits also be regarded as a goddess or a god?

Yeah, after the end of the game I felt... really sad.  The fact that I got the romance achievement right after my Lavellan's boyfriend broke up with her gave me hope that there would be something more later (Fenris, anyone???).  Right as she was about to walk into her quarters after the party, I expected Solas to show up in her dreams or appear to say good bye at least.  But there was nothing.  As the epilogue and then credits rolled... I was a bit shocked.  Then there was the teaser at the end which didn't give me hope so much as baffle me because I HAD NO F*CKING IDEA THAT SOLAS WAS THE DREAD WOLF 

 

I feel better now though about the romance and genuinely appreciate and adore it.  Like others said, talking to you guys helped me "heal" a bit and hope for something better and potentially beautiful to happen for Solas/Lavellan (whether it be happy or sad).
