I keep hoping its Solas that steals Flemeth's power, because it just destroys my heart to think of her finally finding him... only to discover that its not him, just someone who looks like him. I have imagined the scene in my head before, her screaming that she would kill Flemeth, that she was a monster and she would never forgive her. Even worse if she drank from the well, since she could be controlled by Flemeth.

What if no one is dead or possessed? What if Flemeth is giving the power left in that body to Solas, or giving her soul over for safe keeping until a new body can be found? After her scene with the OGB and Morrigan, I find it very hard to believe that such a driven and bitter woman would allow another to carry out her revenge, or set it aside for his needs. It could be that she gave him her power, 'dying' in the process to bring him back to full strength, and then BAMF'd off to another one of her 'amulet' locations since we've seen she has contingency plans for these sort of things.

 

To think the alternative (that damned video title) is way too heartbreaking and would make me seriously consider the reason why he'd be a romance in the first place if that ****'s going to happen to him no matter your choices lol.

possessing the body of my character's love interest is just way too squicky for me to even consider. I think he took her power to make up for his orb or she gave it to him. I think if she forcefully possessed him there would have been more of a struggle or something. He wouldn't have caught her body and gently laid it down like he planned it.

So Solas says...

 

"The failure was mine, I should pay the price." <--hints that he could potentially be willingly giving his body and power to Flemeth (and that sounded not as gross in my head  ) because he gave up.  The orb was broken, he wanted to give up on "trying" to help and causing more chaos and figured the best way to stop himself was to sacrifice himself.  After all, Flemeth says you can't force a soul on the unwilling.  Which... no.... that can't happen 

 

But then they say:

"But the people... they need me... I am so sorry."

"I am sorry as well, old friend."

<--- He and Flemeth come to a mutual understanding that they need to do some sort of power exchange (???)  Solas gains her power because the people need him and recognizes that he can't give in, even if he makes mistakes along the way.

 

It reminds me of a dialogue between Solas and Lavellan (paraphrased) that kind of gives me hope that the second interpretation that's been floating around is the true one:

Solas: "What will you do with power of the Well once Corypheus is dead?

Lavellan: "The war proved that we can't go back to the way things were.  I'll use the Well help move things forward."

Solas: "You would risk everything you have on the hope to make the future better?  What if it isn't?  What if you wake up to find the world you shaped is worse than where you started?"

Lavellan: "I'll take a breath, see where things went wrong, and try again."

Solas: "Just like that?"

Lavellan: "If we don't keep trying, we'll never get it right."

Solas: "You are right. Thank you."

Lavellan: "For what?"

Solas: " You have not been what I expected, Inquisitor.  You have... impressed me.  You have offered hope... that if one keeps trying, even if the consequences are grave... that someday... things will be better."

Now that I watch it again, he looks at her a split second before green comes out of him (fade stuff?) and then catches her as she falls and takes a power into himself. It makes me feel a little better and makes me believe it was he taking her soul.

meh, i find it hard to believe they would write off flemeth for a character that has only been in one game....  if its not flemeth possessing his body, then at least its the mutual shared body thing....  If not, then what a lousy way to write out flemeth.

And I think it's hard to believe that they would introduce the Dread Wolf just to have him be taken over. I don't think either of them are gone. Flemythal has her ways, and some people didn't even off her in Origins, so...I am partial to the theory that she gave him her power, myself.

If Solas was just an average mortal, then I would be concerned as to Flemeth possibly possessing him. But I honestly just think that even if Flemeth possessed him, we'd be able to excise her.

 

Then there's also these reasons:

I've watched the scene with Flemeth and Solas so many times now, but the only thing convincing me that Solas is still Solas because of how much more we know of him because we romanced him compared to everyone else. We know he's not just a wry elven mage who spent most of his time alone and wants nothing else to do with anyone, that his only goal is to close the Breach. I can understand that other people might interpret the scene as Flemeth taking over Solas' body because he seems so much more guarded towards a human inquisitor (don't know if it's the same for dwarves and qunari as well) and you see so much more of him through the romance scenes. I haven't played any other race so far except for elves, but the fact that you can punch him as a human and the dialogue posted earlier... well it seems to me that you'd have a way harder time connecting to him if you're not playing as an elf. So he could fit so much more easier into the villain role in that case.
