At first I was like: horraayyy!!!
And then I was like: noooooooo!!!

I can just imagine him laying there having his adventures in the fade and some woodland creature decides to come up to him. Then, all of a sudden, SNATCH! He has dinner and a some fur.

I'd have to look back, BUT MAYBE! Though I'm still concerned with the 'not writing a straight white male character'. (Did it say love interest? I can't quite remember) I'm like... I'm really thinking he's writing Scribbles or something. And I can't really imagine him writing more than 3 love interests. So with Scribbles (possibly, it could be a major npc instead), Iron Bull, and Solas as contenders... ... ... well, it is something to see what the future brings.

I wonder, if you become close enough to him(and possibly needing to be a mage as well) if he will be able to take you into the Fade WITH him using his technique. I think that could make for a really amazing "new world" kind of scenario, especially if you have a romance going with him. It could be SO COOL!!

I have to say I wasn't interested in Solas' character much...but his interview won me over! It's great. I'll definitely have to find a party to work him into.

I'm wondering if how one views the Fade affects how the user's magic manifests itself?

possibly. it certainly seems to alter how the Fade is for you when you go in it.

 

These are fun ideas that I hope we'll get into further with Solas, but they might be difficult to prove either way.  I feel it might be a little of both.  I don't know if he would have had the ability if it hadn't been innate, but perhaps he would have more trouble like Feynriel had if he had been afraid.  Magic is almost entirely reflective of the mage's will and mental state, and the Fade also responds to that.  

 

I don't think Solas is incapable of changing things in the Fade, all mages can manipulate the Fade to some degree.  This is demonstrated a few times in Asunder.  Dreamers' ability is just much stronger, and they can consciously enter the Fade at will, without lyrium.  But even Feynriel had no real control until he went to Tevinter for training.  Since Solas is more interested in observation, that on its own might be why we aren't seeing him do anything major.  Then again, we don't quite know what Rift Magic does... 

maybe Dorian will have some interesting dialogue with Solas over the Tevinter dreamers (there must be some there since Feynriel had to go there for training)

 

Just thought I'd pop in for the first time to share some thoughts.

First of all, I'm a total nerd when it comes to personality types. (INFP, in da house!)I even did a video on the personality breakdown of Anders in Da2. So, when it comes to intuitive v. thinking, it could go either way for Solas. I would lean towards intuition, myself. But, as said previously, we will just have to talk with him to make certain of that.

 

I like him because he reminds me more of myself: Introverted dreamer who favors comfort over fashion and whatnot.

Also, not sure if it has been discussed previously (I'm new here) but didn't PW's interview compare Solas' understanding to the Fade like that of lucid dreaming? I have books on dreaming (Yeah. I'm one of THOSE people) and one of them says that 73 percent of the population has experienced a lucid dream but it only is common for 5-10 percent of those people. I have have one or two every few months so I guess I would be in that percentage.

 

I don't know why, but that makes me like him more. I hope he's as good as I imagine him to be or I will be real upset.

in MBTI, it's intuitive VS sensing, and thinking VS feeling, not intuitive vs thinking. unless you're thinking of dominant cognitive functions..? 

I actually had my first ever lucid dream (where I controlled it and everything) about 2 weeks ago but that would be an offtopic tangent..

That reminds me - has there been any speculation since the reveal on how Morrigan might view him?   It's been about 20 pages since I went to bed last night and I'm a lazy so and so.

 

I'm thinking her reaction might be interesting because if he can pick up memories from where a person has been, is that anybody or just dead ones?   If you had something to hide and he could pick up on it just by going to one of your haunts, that would be a reason why such a person might not like him very much.

I haven't read anyone speculating on how she might view him, not even in other threads!

 

So, what if Solas is the companion that sticks with you until the end no matter what? Considering his reasoning for joining the Inquisition and how important his knowledge is to the cause, I could definitely see that!

I can see that - first of all his knowledge is going to be important and probably indispensable to the Inq, and make the difference between salvation and destruction and he knows that. Second of all he is brave and selfless

 

I wonder if they'll release a team picture lithograph, like with ME2.
