Starting the game with a F!Human to force myself to romance Cullen and just met Solas. My first thought: Nooo let me go re-make my character I want to be an elf again!

 

 

On an unrelated note, any guesses on whether Solas went to sleep pre-Chantry? And how long he's been awake? I'm trying to remember if he has any Chantry-related dialogue other than saying "are you serious" when you ask Varric if he's with the Chantry in the beginning.

I speculated earlier it was Skyhold, as I think it's Morrigan that tells you it was actually a favored and spiritual place for the elves before the fortress was ever built, but I'm honestly not sure. Then again, how else would he know the fortress is there? Unless he has wandered at points or awoke earlier than I thought - all of which are very possible.

Flemeth talks about having to dance until the music stops, I theorize that she cannot do whatever she wants to do until the 'music' of the imprisoned old gods is stopped perhaps that is why she took Urthemiels soul from Kieran and maybe she has collected the other old god souls I'm not entirely sure. But perhaps this relates to Solas and the Dread Wolf supposedly imprisoning them, though I'm still not entirely sure what the forgotten ones are and how they relate to the old gods and why (I assume) the dread wolf, Mythal and Urthemiael all inhabit one body.

About Solas approaching the Dalish-- I keep thinking of Zeus and Hermes.

They came down from Olympus disguised as mere mortals to see how humanity was holding up. Turns out humans were total freaking cannibal dicks and Zeus was so PO'd that his little project had failed that he started to smite them right then and there. Luckily Hermes convinced him to go two for three and they decided people weren't a.. total disaster.

Perhaps Lavellan is Solas's Hermes? LOL

I like to think that the Solas thread is 60% weeping over fictional boyfriend breakup, and 40% mad conspiracy theory. There would be posts all over the walls, with little strings attempting to connect the dots.

Looking over the timeline in the wiki, I would say if Solas slept before the fall of Arlathan, then he definitely predates most of the chantry stuff. [Sort of, it seems to mostly group everything together into the 'ancient' age so I might be reading it wrong as far as any precursors. Certainly before it was a force to be reckoned with.] 

 

As to when he woke up, its hard to say. Solas acts like it hasn't been very long, but if you are immortal you might have a somewhat warped sense of time. I would probably lean more to him waking up within the last couple of years though. Otherwise you'd think he'd find someone more reliable than Cory to be his orb activator. 

 

I think it was someone in this thread who speculated that maybe Briala unlocking the eluvian mirrors [and also binding them to a password in his name] might have awoken him.

I think over a lot of years someone can forget about something "important" like the Vallaslin. I guess it was like they started to say, that those marks aren't slavery marks anymore, they see it as a prove they stayed strong and got out of slavery. Then after years things like this change. It's like that in every culture. Things change. The dalish kind of want to be the children of the ancient elves they look up to and they may think those marks just show them power and is a symbol that they belong to each other. Even rituals change over time. And I am not sure, but 1000 years are a long time.

It is the same with their talking, like mentioned before, the old elvish may differ alot to the modern elvish. the meaning of words may change, and if they were negative years ago, they may now be pretty positive.

 

I realized in the smaragd graves, there are so many wolf statues. In every camp there is one. And beside one of those statues there was a notice about a man who wrote he could sleep very good under the protecting eyes of this statue.

I was thinking about the course of Thedas history and thinking that magic always seems to ruin society -- it sounds like Arlathan had a lot more in common with Tevinter than anything else.  Even with everyone doing magic, it probably came down to those who could do magic the best were the ones in power.  Apparently the elven "gods" were Arlathan's magisters.

 

Also, the whole blood magic thing -- honestly I think Solas was being intentionally naive in that conversation regarding the elves.

Briala unlocking the mirrors is from the Masked Empire correct? Is that worth reading - both generally and in terms of getting more Dread Wolf info? I heard there was something about servant of Fen'Harel in there (I may have even heard it in this thread)

Have a crazy theory he went after flemeth when he did so he could have a say in how mythal uses the inquisitor

I would say so! It deals more with Empress Celene and Briala, but it is written by Solas's writer and there's more than a few implications you can gleam about what ends up happening in DA:I.

Whether Felessan was Fen'Harel's servant is up for debate, as they leave it ambiguous. He tells a lot of fables to Briala, and speaks relatively favorably about him. General consensus is that he was either working for Solas, or he was working for an unknown entity that might be an enemy of Fen'Harel. 

Weekes is still not wanting to clarify Felessan much, so that seems to mean that whatever happened at the end of Masked Empire is still relevant.

I guess he could still feel the same for Morrigan (in the sense that he doesn't want Mythal to amass more power), but I don't think it's directly related to the inquisitor (though that would be sweet - and a bit creepy because then you're bound to serving him)

I think around Page 5 and onward is where the prompts are being posted after the game was released. Quite a few aren't sex related either, so it's a good as spot as any. I also remember tumblr can be a rather good place for it, found a few good prompts there that I later used for roleplaying sessions that were immensely fun. We could all also start one for the forums, so people who don't want to visit the kmeme can see them as well as people who aren't fond of tumblr.

Yeah, I tried that one after a reload but it just didn't fit my character.

 

Why why why didn't we get a fade to black scene?!  I would have liked more, but at least a fade to black would have established what their relationship was without having to rely on environmental banter that may or may not trigger.

 

But hey, I guess that makes it easier for my Inquisiter to get over it.  *shrugs*  "Oh well, all we did was kiss a few times."

I assume in my mind he would have done it to fight flemeth from controlling the inquisitor rather than control him directly but now I know its in the morrigan decision it oculd be wishful thinking.

I recorded a videos with Solas talking to Lathellan and after this they make their way to the skyhold. I just love this scene. the soundtrack is incredible. I just don't know what kind of smile it is he gives Lathellan or the whole scene.

 

Why does it just need hours to upload it to youtube >_< It even doubled it's time while writting to 1000minutes D= That is so horrible. Does anyone know how the other people can upload it so easy to youtube? Fraps is pretty big, but I just can't compress it without getting bigger XD I still want a good resolution

given his deception and the power dynamics some people may have felt used or taken advantage of or generally uncomfortable by the whole thing and so the writers decided to err on the side of caution

I just read the codex on Solas after the end of the game, with all of Leliana's updates.

My poor Inquisitor. She's probably even more confused now, with Leliana saying that Solas was deceiving them the entire time. If there is dlc or an expansion in the future dealing with Solas, I have no idea how to even make her react. In my head, she still loves him but is so hurt and confused and wishes she could hate him. 

 

God I hope it doesn't take 3 years to get closure on this.
